This is some real funny shit ,Prince cant play guitar what a crock of shit and I'm sorry to say but anyone that thinks that he cant knows nothing about guitar. I know people seemed obsessed by conspiricy theorys but this takes the buscuit. Would non of his ex-band members or anyone else not out him,like people that dont like him or other top guitarists such as Steve Vai,Clapton and many others that have stated their admiration for his guitar work,I mean do you think these guys couldnt tell he was faking it or are they also faking there guitar playing.

Anyone who truly believes that Prince fakes his guitar work on stage needs to read the recent cover story of him in Guitar Player Magazine. In that article, the author, who is one of the magazine's senior editors, raves about what a "shred-monster" Prince can be on stage. He also raves about the way he plays funk on this tour. If anyone can detect finger-synching at a live show, it would be a senior editor of Guitar Player Magazine.

Also, anyone who's seen the Musicology tour knows this charge is baseless. For instance, he plays different leads during "Controversy" every night. In the shows I've seen, the difference has been radical on some nights. And, as someone else pointed out, the acoustic section is different every night.

Those of us who have followed Prince for 20+ years understand that people have always tried to discredit his guitar playing. There have always been plenty of people in this country--most whom I suspect are macho white heterosexual male bigots--who just refuse to believe that Prince is as good of a lead guitarist as he is. I don't know if its because of his race or that he's not macho enough or that he doesn't feel the need to rip through a every pentatonic scale at lightning speed on every song he records, but I've known plenty of jerks in my lifetime who have just refused assess his guitar work objectively. I had hoped that this kind of narrow-minded crap died with the '80s, our country's last golden era of bigotry, but apparently it still lives.

This is ABSOLUTE bullshit. It doesn't even deserve a response it's so stupid. I'm a guitarist of 15 years experience and I can tell you that Prince plays every lick, one only needs to watch his hands.....fucking STUPID DICKHEADS who say he can't play!

It's only natural that with Prince having the great year he's having, these kind of stories abound. Sorry, I always wanted to use abound in a sentence.
Anyway, it's just the usual SSDD. Prince is so talented, so he must be faking it. He looks so good, so naturally he's had plastic surgery, and so on and so on.
Prince ain't perfect, but he IS a musical genius. The sooner we all accept that fact and move on, the world will become a much safer and wonderful place. Or not.

Let me add my little emoticon to the mix. This thread is hilarious. Well, if Prince fakes his guitar playing, he's damn good at it. I've never seen anyone's fingers be that in sync with those of the behind-the-scenes person on every single song. Prince really is amazing! Now, I don't usually use this expression, because I hate it soo much, but I'm going to have to make this exception. "This dude is a HATER for real!"

ok im settling this now.... how long has he been in the buisness over 30 years.... if he really lip-synched or faked playing his guitar he would have gotten caught end of story 30 years is a really long time... he probobly wouldnt tour as often as he does if he faked playing live... truly sad.... thats it now, no more replying end of thread lol
