Purple Rain screening in nyc... Anybody going to the Purple Rain screening tonight in nyc? The UrbanWorld Film Festival is showing PURPLE RAIN as a part of its festival. It's showing tonight at 7:45pm and a special midnight (12:15am) screening over at the Loews 34th Street Movie Theatre (34th Street in Manhattan bet 8th and 9th).
I've never seen PURPLE RAIN on the big screen. I can't WAIT! Hopefully, it's a good print...

The 7:45pm screening was fabulous! In fact, Warner Bros reps (I think or Festival organizers) had some cameras there to videotape interviews and take pictures of the audience as we sang along to "Let's Go Crazy"--which opened the movie. We were told by a rep before the movie started that our singing along to the opening of the movie was to be sent to some satellite feed so we would be heard LIVE.
Pamphlets with printed lyrics were handed out to the audience as we entered the theater and the response was OVER-THE-TOP! Folks were reciting lines to the movie as it played, singing along with the songs--clapping after most songs ended (as if we were at a concert) and at the end during "I Would Die For You" and "Baby I'm A Star"--Folks got up, clapped, and danced in the aisles or their seats... Haven't had such a good time in a movie theatre in ages.
