'The Marrying Kind/If I was man in Ur life'...sound hip-hop? ...this has been on my mind for some time now, and I’ve seen threads with questions about Prince and hip-hop…I know there isn’t much rap or other things musically that make these songs ‘hip-hop’ but am I the only one who thinks ‘The Marrying Kind’ and ‘If I was the man in your life’ does have some kind of blend of hip-hop in it? I always find myself bopping my head to these songs, can’t hardly pinpoint what it is...anyone got similar ears, or know what I'm talking about??? I don't know about "The Marrying Kind", but "If I was the man in ur life" definitely does. Thank God, though, Prince left his rapping days behind. Not very fond of it.

Yeah, "If Eye Was The Man In Ur Life" has a hip hop flavour to it in the bass line and syncopated snare and kick drum. | |
