I know the album "Come" isn't a big favorite among us here. It get's very little discussion. I have mixed feelings about it, but there are a few songs I really like. "Dark" is one of them. I think it has to be the most beautiful ballad he has ever done. I like the horn section and the organ a lot. What do you think?

Even Solo... even though it can be insanely meloncholy.. there something about listening to his voice like that... sends chills all over... I like it

The album was on a whole MOODY I guess... for lack of a better term... perhaps it turns some people off because of how "heavy" it is in a way... nothing light about it.

But sometimes we all get in that frame of mind where things feel pretty morbid and dark... so yea, that aspect of the album is there, but I don't think it's a flaw... I liked it for what it was... but thats just me

I thought the Come album was one of his better records in the 90's. It flowed well and the songs were smooth laid back Prince especially the title track. The only get your head bangin' was Loose! and that song was hot to death. The Come album get 4 out of 5 stars in my book.

Love it , love , love it. I think PAPPA is a classic, The title track is his sexiest but above all SOLO sends chills down my spine, if ever a track showcased his vocal ability this would be it.

i think "COME" is a great album. it has very strong ballads. Pheremore, Solo, Dark, Papa are my fav...

Hey, Hey, Hey, the Come album was awesome. It went gold along with The Gold Experience. That should say something about its popularity.I prefer the Dark remix on the Crystal Ball album. I read somewhere, that was the version that Prince was more satisfied with. Nevertheless, The Dark is a great song. the horn arrangements on Come, the title track are magnificent as well.

Agreed. I kept this CD on the shelf for over a year until I picked it up again and it kicked my ass. All of the songs are good (except orgasm) and the title track is an epic of greatness....

Yeah. I agree. Come is a very cool album. It has a nice dark atmosphere about it.

The only 'song' I don't like on there is Orgasm. But the rest is absolutely fine.

It was a real shame 2 have 2 see the album go down like it did when it was really a very well done thing.

The original DARK is also much, much better than the remix version on Crystal Ball.

I agree the original "Dark" is better than the CB version!

"Dark", great ballad with depressing lyrics, yet the music seems 2 lighten the mood of the song. The horns and the bass are an excellent touch 2 the track.
Overall, "Come" was a great album, I used 2 visualize wonderful videos 4 "Pheromone", Loose",and "Letitgo" as opossed 2 the ones that were actually shot. The album had strong commercial potential, and 2 me had a darker, gritty edge 2 which would have made great singles, regardless of what others may say. It's all about how U market an album.

Actually, I am still penetrating Come. It's a difficult album and I don't think it was exactly suited for mass consumption. It's oh so heavy at times and takes a lot of effort. However, I'm slowly beginning to realise its brilliance - with the help of you guys!

Seems to me that I'm listening to old Stax stuff, Al green or Otis.
It is really, and I mean REALLY a piece of art !

I could never understand how people could like the song "Solo". To this day I can't get past the first 30 seconds without wanting to cut off my ears or poke hot ice picks in them. God that song reeks. To each his own, I guess.....

Me, I think Come was one of his better albums of the 90's. My fav off it would have to "Papa". For some of us, that song hit close to home. Overall...it has mostly good songs, minus solo & orgasm, IMO.

I liked every song except COME. I liked the version from the beautiful experience video with Nona Gaye or the 18 & over version on CB. I know it goes against the grain but I liked SOLO AND ORGASM. I can't understand why people gun on orgasm. If you listen to Madhouse, you'll hear those orgasms and the Guitar track is the same as Controversy.

I really enjoyed the Come album, my favorite tracks are Dark and Letitgo. Dark has a sad and pretty feel and Prince's vocal reminds me a bit of Al Green at times on the track, which is a great thing.
I love the arrangement of Dark, but didn't care for the remix version. The original version is very powerful, and the remix robs the dynamics of the arrangement and Michael B.'s great drum work.

On another note, I love the album version of Come. I first heard it on a bootleg of the DNA lounge show, and then heard it on the Beautiful Experience video. The new jazzy arrangement, and Prince's vocal melody on the new version actually made the song much more appealing to me.

count me in as another who thinks the COME album is great.

i love listening to it on headphones and especially totally cranking up the volume when 'Loose!' comes on

Just imagine how great an album this would have been if he'd wanted to deliver one to WB at that time, including the original version of Come as performed on the Act I aftershows, the Universal Love remix of Space, So Dark instead of Dark, Poem instead of Orgasm and one of the Letitgo mixes instead of the album version...

I personally like the album. Haven't listened to it in a while though...will now!

I love this album! Especially the title track, dark is my second fave.
