I have a love-hate relationship with these comparison threads...

I like to read them, but feel shitty that I'm comparing two entirely separate emotions with eachother...

So normally I just ignore them.

Except for today... I'm starting one of my own.


So... how do these two songs compare?

I love both of them, but I'm gonna have to go with "Sometimes...".

Yeah, now that I'm thinking about it more, I'd definitely give it to "Sometimes it Snows in April".

"Condition of the Heart" is from the album Around the World in a Day... the layers of background vocals... the piano... the use of his lead vocal... mmm, mmm, mmm. The lyrics... "Every day is a yellow day"

"Sometimes It Snows In April" is from the soundtrack of Under The Cherry Moon, and titled Parade. The soft intro, the beginning lyric "Tracy died soon after a long fought civil war".

I think each song stands on it's own merits... they're both beautiful and I love hearing them... I don't think I could like one more than the other... but, if I had to choose.

I'd go with "Condition of the Heart".

Both are pure genious... but there's something that makes me choose... Condition Of The Heart.

I'm going to have to go with "Sometimes...." on this one. "Condition..." annoys the piss out of me.

It's one of the best ballads ever written.

Sometimes is just too perfect, so it wins for me.

Though I love Condition.

they're both soo beautiful! depends on what mood i'm n..Sometimes is about loss...and Condition is about longin..and i'm usually n the longin mood so i go wit condition!

This is a hard one! I love both songs so much. But i will go for Condition Of The Heart today.

Sometimes... is one of the best written songs of his back catalogue IMO, it's fictional, yet conveys a truth in it's emotion, very intense - it envelopes the listener.

Condition is a little schmaltzy, but I love the build up of the song to the first vocal line.

I'm saying Sometimes is the better crafted song, but Condition is a trip.

Reminds me of my great-grandmother who passed away.

But, I do love Condition of the Heart. Especially the line about money buying you everything and nothing.

I think I like the Title of Sometimes better. I also kind of associate this song to UTCM.

I also love both songs but I have to give it to Condition...

April is a good song, but a bit too sappy.

I love the humour in Condition...the self-references, the references to Susannah, and yeah the opening is long but it's one of the most unique and classical songs he's put out there.

You can really feel the frustration and pain in his voice when the woman left him for "a REAL Prince..."

April, is sweet and sad, but a bit weepy. I know the message remains but taken out of context its a bit lame, wiping away some dude's last tear...some dude named Tracy...sorry

This is a hard one! But I gotta go with Condition. Sometimes feels like a true snowstorm in April...unexpected, beautiful and melts the minute it hits the ground.

Condition is an epic. Just has more weight somehow...and takes more chances musically.

I definately prefer "Condition Of The Heart". "Sometimes It Snows In April" bores the hell out of me.
