where are the damn cd singles!

i think Prince and Sony have done a great job so far with Musicology but i think they have messed up in 1 area and thats the singles chart...since there are so many radio stations releuctant to play Prince (mainly top 40 and even Urban somewhat) the only way Prince can have a hit single is by releasing a retail single for Musicology and Call My Name but he hasnt with either song and as a result Musicology failed to chart at all and Call My Name is losing steam already on all formats except Urban A/C..now many people woulld say who cares about a single? it all about selling albums!..well i think by having a song in the top 40 in sales it would make radio programmers take note that maybe they should be playing the new Prince song and therefore getting the album more attention..i mean the other countries are gonna get a cd single of Cinnamon Girl why shouldnt the U.S?.. this has been a great year to be a Prince fan but i think it's a real shame that none of the singles from the album will even chart at all in the hot 100...i hope maybe with the upcoming singles (Cinnamon Girl?) Prince will finally get a cd single out there for people to buy and maybe it will have a chance at becoming the 1st hit off the album...

Do people besides us buy CD singles? They're almost as much ching as a full LP, so only peeps who need those B-Sides buy 'em. Right?
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

i dont know i think they were around $3.99..but they are worth it when you put a few extra tracks on them....then maybe people will buy the cd single instead of downloading the song off the net

All I ever see are import CD singles anymore, at $9.99 on up. I would buy all those "virtual" b-sides on CD pronto, just for the sound quality alone... downloads blow, at any bitrate.

Is it true that the Musicology CD given out at the concert is at a bitrate similar to a download, whereas the one in the stores is full CD quality?

No. The Promo CD is perfect quality.

Prince should have given the singles at the concerts away too and really messed with the top 40 singles chart smile

Even though Physical Singles are on the way out, I think it was a mistake for Sony not to release
any for Musicology, particularly the title track prior to the album's arrival. Basically they should
have gone with an "Every little helps" attitude with regard to CD single releases, as the singles
chart kinda feeds off itself and radio play, with one influencing the other. At least if he'd
released an actual single (particularly if it had a non-album b-side) all the fans would have
rushed out and bought a copy. Plus you know we wouldn't have been able to resist if there'd
been a maxi-single too. Something like....

single:
1. Musicology (single edit)
2. Magnificent

maxi-single:
1. Musicology (single edit)
2. Musicology (funky house mix)
3. Musicology (12" remix)
4. Musicology (extended version)
5. Musicology (livestudio mix)
6. Musicology (funky house dub)
CD Rom bonus: Musicology video

That's a relief! I thought it sounded fine, but I have never minded the dowloaded songs either (although I can tell the difference, but I was raised listening to Prince CASSETTES, so I guess I'm naturally lo-fi).

Is that a pic of CJ in your avatar?

I have been wondering where the singles are myself. When I go to the record store, I never check the singles because I am always looking for something old. But with the new Prince album, I have been looking for singles in case there is a B Side. I have noticed a very low selection of singles for EVERYONE.

As far as becoming a NPGMC member, it's too much trouble. You have to download the song, which takes too long.....if it even finishes downloading in the first place. My computer is always giving me problems anyway putting spam in the favorites in the hard drive. I'm always having to run my recovery disk and wipe everything out. I don't have a CD burner for my computer anyway. This means I would have to unhook the computer and move it over across the room to the stereo system, pull that big ass entertainment center out to get behind it to plug the computer into the stereo. Not to mention sorting through all the wires. It's too much damned trouble. Now if it were the "old Prince", it would be worth the trouble.

I will always buy the CD Singles even if there is no B Side because I am a collector/completionist or perhaps just sad boxed
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.
