Eventhough we all dug it, the bumping and grinding, gyrating, cursing, and screaming- it was really Prince at his emotionally disfunctional best. We "Raved unto the joy, fantastic" - but he was really very unhappy through those years. If he said these words, maybe his self proclaimed spititual rebirth and new stage persona would seem more geniune, and less self righteous..... he can only go forward...
The road you choose to walk in this life, is a road that leads to the next.....

Prince sez:

"I have a responsibility to (young fans) to perform in a manner that I would like my children to be performed in front of[...]"

wouldnt've hurt a bit to have thought of this years ago, mmm? it ain't exactly like all the younger folks are comin outta the woodwork nowadays. been havin youngsters diggin what you do for years.

...oh so jive. i ain't buyin it. talk to the hand

lol Everytime I see one of his interviews, I think of how I was corrupted as a child, listening to what my grandmother called "that nasty music." I appreciated the corruption though!

As an aside, I wonder why he doesn't just say he has stopped performing so suggestively because it's against his religious beliefs. That seems like a simple enough answer that anyone could appreciate.

It's funny that Prince now says that sex isn't important and that promiscuity is evil and monogamy is the best way to go.

Of course he has come to this "realization" only after fucking and getting his dick sucked by countless supermodels, actresses, and other beautiful women. I'm sure if I went through that much pussy, I'd get a bit tired of it as well and decide to chill a bit. More importantly, he is older and his testosterone levels are dropping rapidly.

That is the real reason that he isn't into sex that much now, but he isn't intelligent enough to realize that, and instead he feels like now he sees "The Truth" that dirty lyrics are bad and that sex with multiple partners is EVIL. If he had stayed with one woman twenty years ago, maybe I'd listen to him at least a little, but as it is, he just looks like an idiot and a hypocrite who didn't practice what he is preaching until he got old and tired and less virile.

Prince is a musical genius, but I don't know how he would fare on an IQ test. I love the guy, but sometimes I see why much of the general public views him an an eccentric fool....it's because he is one.

I agree. I was in my early teens when Prince was at his nastiest, the "Dirty Mind/Controversy" era. To tell you the truth, I learned a lot about sex from hearing certain words and sexual terms.

When I first bought "Dirty Mind", I saw the warning sticker. I listened to the album and the only cuss word I could recognize was damn...."You're gonna have to fight your own damn war". I would sneak and find dirty magazines and read the "Hot Letters". From the letters, I recognized some of the terms Prince was using and kind of put the pieces to the puzzle together as to what that meant, in addition to asking friends in school.

Parents will not talk to their children about sex. If it weren't for Prince and dirty magazines, I wouldn't have learned a damned thing.

I totally agree with you that Prince should have thought about that years ago. Teenagers are the main record buyers. Look at the music industry today, you can definitely see that teenagers are the main ones buying it. Our generation was the teenage record buying public that made him the star he is today.

If he doesn't want to be nasty any more, he needs to just say he doesn't want to be nasty anymore because of his religion. If he is confronted about his raunchy past, he just needs to say he was wrong. But Prince never says he is wrong. Personally, I think he's wrong now for going along with his religion and never questioning it and becoming so judgemental. He was better then for being himself and going against the rules.
Andy is a four letter word.
