Anyone else hope that Prince will lay off of politics in future releases? I hope so. Maybe Im the only one but I hope his music goes back to the fericious and stays away from USofD and Dear mr man. I like dear mr man, but we can move along now (Insert something clever here) | |

don't get your hopes up. I know ronnie talk to russia, sign of the times.....etc. Since he doesnt talk sex so much, his focus is getting to directed to politics imo Call my name, cinnamon girl, dear mr man, us of div. its dipping into too many songs. (Insert something clever here) | |

I don't mind hearing his thoughts on issues, even if I don't agree with them.
It sure beats another insipid ballad like 'Call My Name'. You got a problem with Annie Christian, Sign O' The Times, Dance On, and Money Don't Matter 2Night?   | |

i think his outlook on politrix and whatever come off as naive at times, but you have to admit: it's a helluva lot better than just hearin about 'im wantin to do a girl all the time. | |

"rage" as in rage against the machine? now you're talking popcorn and grenadines (apples n'oranges, as it were) here--rage did a fine job in puttin world views in their stuff. i dig those guys. at no time do i ever feel i'm being "beaten to death" with whatever topic they put forth in their songs. once again, don't hold your breath. the cat ain't scaling anything back anytime soon. | |

I wouldn't mind it if he became a bit more outspoken AND direct about policical/social/ecomomic matters. Show concern about the problems AND offer ideas about solutions (no more of this "ain't no use in voting" stuff).

The problem with most politically themed songs is the aging process. Like pop, they get old and dated very quickly. He may never duplicate a SOTT again, but what was covered in that song can be seen today. The same is said about Marvin Gaye's [/u] What's Going On. I'm not asking for him to generalize topics or dumb down his music, just find a way to make his point heard, and have it be relevant ten years down the line. Jeux Sans Frontiers | |

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Prince has been singing about social/political issues since Controversy. Why would you want him to "lay off" the themes that define every human's life (like it or not, your existence -- along with every other living, breathing animal on this planet -- is based on political choices made by politicians and lobbyists)? Since he's dropped the hardcore sex stuff, I'm praying he'll go at least 70% political on his next disc. 30% romance, of course. Why would you EVER want him to "lay off" the political stuff? Yes, totally. Politics are your LIFE, dude. I'd be perfectly happy with a Prince CD featuring NOTHING but political lyrics.
