Anyone who thinks the Wilco album was good is obviously new to Wilco (as in, a fan as of last album). It is not very good.
1. Dave Douglas - Strange Liberation 2. Goodie Mob - One Monkey Don't Stop No Show 3. Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat 4. Angela McClusky Lenny Kravitz is a joke.....

How about any five. Musicology wasn't even a real hit with him giving it away. Sad just sad.

Haters Erm....at first I was fairly certain that you were kidding...but then I came around to the frightening possibility that you are in fact not speaking tongue-in-cheek. So which is it? I mean, I dunno. Everyone has their opinions, and so it's just as valid for you to say Musicology is the "album of the century so far" as it is for me to say that "Soul Sanctuary" makes me want to internally bleed to death. But....can you seriously say that there is not another single album in the last 4 years that you think is an artistically "better" album than Musicology? I can't imagine how small your CD collection must be. Not trying to harsh, just trying to wrap my meager mind around it. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

1. Janet Jackson: Damita Jo
2. Usher: Confessions 3. Outkast: Speakerboxxx/Love Below (That's probably what I know, but Musicology was probably the most creative R&B album of the year, in my opinion.) Check me out and add me on:

No offence chief, but you are only half certain I was kiddin cause you are American. Musicology is pretty average “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists”

Okay, just a warning: the next person on here who makes assumptions and cracks jokes about the fact that I live in America is gonna get a rant of epic proportions. I think you're trying to insinuate that Americans don't understand sarcasm or something like that - am I right?
Perhaps if you had put a little emoticon like this after your statement, it would have been more clear that you were joking. And I know you were kidding, and I know you stated "no offence" (what a durling old world spelling!), but I gotta say that I do indeed take offense. I don't see what me being American has to do with anything. Another thing that has been bugging me recently is that people from other parts of the world on here have made sweeping generalizations and assumptions about my and other orger's political views, etc. simply because we're "American." So do you think that all Americans are gung-ho on the war in Iraq and think George Bush is a great man (a la Britney in Fahrenheit 911)? I know that you didn't insinuate anything about my political views or anything like that, so on that point I'm talking about other recent posts that have done that (by other people, not you!) But I really would like to know what me being an American has to do with not knowing whether or not your statement about Musicology being the greatest album of the century was in earnest or in jest. You might want to include more contextual clues next time if you're going to rip on people. I probably am overreacting, but whatever. No offense. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Right ok, you seem to be making an issue out of nothing. I meant nothing by it.
It was a throwaway comment about Musicology, and again about Americans. Yep, I was jokin about the sarcasm thing- I've known people from the states who say this is true. Whilst I take it with a pinch of salt, I believe there is nothing wrong with having a joke. Just like when people of other nations call Scotland part of England or think that we are all haggis eating bagpipe players- I just laugh. Though I do like a bit of haggis I didnt read between the lines on your comments, and I urge you not to on mine Oh, and the Americans on this board do anything but perpetuate stereotypes. The P & R forum has some genuinely insightful debate on the US political situation. a couple of albums better than musicology for the record are the scissor sisters debut and tical 0: the prequel by method man “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists”

Actually, Musicology is my favourite this year, and its been a good few years since I've been able to say that about Prince.
Runners up? Morrisey Sissor Sisters Keane Tears For Fears George Michael .

I think I've bought more albums to date this year than I did in all of 2003, but only one of them (besides Musicology) was actually released in 2004 - "Penance Soiree" by the Icarus Line. This album is quite a stunner - extremely intense Stooges-style rock, highlighted by a nine minute borderline-psychedelic freakout called "Getting Bright at Night". My only complaint with this album is that there is too much of it - 53 minutes is just a little too long to be bombarded by all this relentless aggression.
I like Musicology well enough, but it's not an album I can see myself regularly coming back to in the future. [This message was edited Sun Jul 18 15:59:56 2004 by flipwilson]

easy done...
Rejoicing In The Hands - Devendra Banhart The Milk Eyed Mender - Joanna Newsom Van Lear Rose - Loretta Lynn Get Away From Me - Nellie McKay Devin Dazzle And The Neon Fever - Felix Da Housecat and i wouldn't be surprised that the new Bjork album squeezes a place in the top five once i hear it although i have to admit that 'musicology' is solid, if at times unremarkable, pop album

Why is everybody listing Outkast? That waslast year. Nonetheless, a great album!
I've bought a lot of albums I really like this year, but so far this year, there have only been 3 albums that I love: Talkie Walkie - Air Van Lear Rose - Loretta Lynn Me and Mr. Johnson - Eric Clapton Of those, Van Lear Rose is the best. Musicology is a good album, but it's not my favorite of this year. But there's still a lot of year left, unless you're talking Grammy year -- their eligibility period is for music released from October 1, 2003 - September 30, 2004.

Very disappointing for me, because their first album was one of the best I'd heard in quite some time. They shoulda stuck with SpyMob doing the instrumentation.

Ok... COSIGN to AMEL LARRIEUX...She released probably the best album of the year, and folks are just NOW starting to listen to it... Bravebird is the shit... Also, Sweetback is the most slept on band..(glad I am not the only one who pushed everyone to buy the first album "Sweetback" 1996)....but as far as my list thats superior to Musicology: Bravebird-- Amel Larrieux Van Hunt-- Van Hunt Stone Love--Angie Stone The College Dropout--Kanye West Patience (UK version)--George Micheal honorable mention to holdovers "The Black Album"--jay-Z , and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below...u know who. (dont trip, they put out a slammin album.), and Kiss of Death--Jadakiss one. Tsk Tsk, What a pity...sometimes Life can be so shitty....

Although Musicology is the album i've listened most this year (and most likely will), there has definately been better albums released.
They are just not as important for me personally. Well, ive spend tens of hours with these albums: The Shins: Chutes Too Narrow Badly Drawn Boy: One plus One is One Dead Moon: Dead Ahead Wilco: Ghost Is Born Leatherface: Dog Disco Johnny Cash: My Mother's Hymn Book + Life-compilation + plus several totally amazing finnish bands.
