If Prince would have kept the song Koo Koo for himself and not givin it to Sheila E do u think this song could have been a hit? ..its got a very cool & unusual beat to it..the video got some airplay on BET but it never took off for Sheila

Koo Koo is one of my favorite associated artist tracks. It has a total sort of SOTT type vibe to it. I think it would have done well If P had kept it. The 12" version is great too!

It's on her 3rd album, simply titled 'Sheila E.'
(Which admittedly is the hardest one of her albums to track down on CD)

Me too. I love this track. I remember the video with her and cat...very fun. It's a stand out on a sorta lack luster album. B-Side is great too. Though I can't hear Prince singing it.

But a kiss on the lips is better than a knife in the back...if you ask me.

I think "Koo Koo" is a mediocre song.Good message and cool groove, but it lacks a strong hook/chorus,which makes it a poor choice for a single.Sheila's album had much better choices for singles..."Faded Photographs","The Pride and the Passion","Love On A Blue Train".

But to answer your question...no,I don't think "Koo Koo" was destined to be a hit, even if Prince had released it as his own single.

Very mediocre. In fact, below mediocre.
