Malcolm Jamal Warner rap on the Cabaret Metro "import" -- worst Prince live moment EVER

Oh man....has there ever been a worse moment on a Prince bootleg?!??

I was listening to the Cabaret Metro boot yesterday when I suddenly had to rush to the bathroom. You know what I'm talking about. There was NO time to hit STOP or PAUSE on the CD player, so I had to leave the music playing. When I got out of there, I came back to the living room to discover that the Malcolm Jamal Warner rap (don't ask) was at the very end, and there was a group of people outside in the hallway right by my door??!?!?! Thank fucking god I'm moving soon; the other people in the building must think I have the world's worst taste in music!

i don't know if he rapped or not, but i saw Prince at the Aragon in Chicago on the NPS tour, and he dragged Sinbad's bleached, fat, lame ass out onto the stage with Doug E.

i'm officially submitting that as worst Prince live moment ever. but i imagine the Theo rap is probably pretty horrendous too.

I am not kidding.

I am not clever, or sadistic, enough to make up such a tragedy.

It actually happened. Is that Guide 2 Prince Bootlegs site still down? It talked about this, I believe.

Now, I don't encourage anyone to seek this out (a -- it's a bootleg no-no and b -- it fucking sucks). But if you should ever stumble across this recording (from like 92 or 93?) check it out.

It will fucking blow your mind in its terribleness. It actually makes you wish Tony M. would just bust in and pull out Jughead. It's THAT bad.

I thought that Tony M did rap on that show?

It's a pretty shitty sounding soundboard too.

He should have been.

I think I might have believed in God before I heard that boot. But I can't remember; parts of my brain were destroyed upon first listen.

They should have named the boot "Caberet Labotomy"

Mr. Kurtz I presume... big grin

But any of the Paisley shows where he let DVS rap would have to be in the mix for worst live moments ever.

Let me humbly admit some ignorance here, but what does DVS stand for, or who does it represent? I'll gladly take your word for it being the worst performance at a Prince show ever. I won't even try to look it up.

He is a rapper that Prince kept around for a while. He eventually became the lead-rapper for the Funky Baldheads. It is him rapping on the song "Daisy Chain"

Hey, in the midst of this thread, can we hear a little gratitude that Prince seems to finally have realized that he and rap are like mashed potatoes and cough syrup; sure you can put em together...but it ain't gonna go down well! cool

Over the past three years, I don't missed the canned beats, the fake horns, or the rap...

The MJW rap is hideous indeed! I think Tony M called him up...probably so he could look better? LOL

But the overall show is pretty cool, Buddy Miles joins the band

Its an Act 1 aftershow, march 93 I believe

I just regurgitated the contents of my stomach into my mouth, and thru the horror of the visuals that entered my mind i actually swallowed again! Damn he's an evil little bugga when he wants to be. Why can't he just be content in his genius and not feel the need to pull untalented MF's up to the mic to ridicule?!
JUST CRUEL!
reminds me of a scene from the 2nd season of wiseguy back in the late '80's: Kevin Spacey, playing Mel Profit, (after being insinuated towards as being short) does something purely evil & knocks an opponent down a ladder of rungs, then turns to him cooly and says: "who's bigger now?"

I was at this show (pressed up against the stage) and witnessed the MJW rap firsthand. Not only was it lousy, but I believed he was also a little liquored-up!

I wish there was video of this (I remember seeing the pro camera in the balcony) because Prince was making hilarious faces during the performance. He would make exaggerated winces like he was in pain. Very funny...MJW had no idea what was happening behind him.

The rap went on too long for Prince's taste and he started looking quite annoyed. The crowd grew impatient, too. Eventually, Prince motioned for someone to take the mic back and it finally ended. Fantastic night.

For those that don't know, the Metro is located across the strett from beautiful Wrigley Field. Go Cubs!
