Where's Trench Coat?!... I Wanna See It Again!

Does anyone know the last time P broke out the ol' trench?

I think it's an important part of his wardrobe and image!

(P if you're reading this... break out one wit them studs.)

prince said that he dosent wear that trench anymore and i don't blame him. people want prince to go back 20 years ago. if prince were still singing and dressing like the 80s he would become a cliche of himself.

If Prince still dressed like he used to, he'd look ridiculous. He's 46, let the guy grow up already.

Well hey, I wore pants back in 1984, and I'm STILL wearing them, when I have to.

So, what, he's still wearing those fucking make-me-laugh pumps. And makeup. And lace.

His excuse doesn't wear so well.

I realize he can wear whatever he wants and whatever, but to insist that he stay away from those things that made him famous - shit - it's just stupid. Why not just say "I'll don one when I feel like it, now shut the f up."

or whatever.

I'm always right.

If we applied your logic:

P would have to rid himself of that cheap-ass Hohner guitar... and PURPLE!

The trenchcoat was just one of many Prince looks. He's always changing his fashion sense.

I can understand both sides to this. It would be like a parody of his earlier self to wear it, but it would be cool to see him break it out once or twice to surprise people.

Trench coats were his trade mark from the "Dirty Mind" to "Purple Rain" era but he has never stopped wearing them. I've seen him in trench coats several times since "Purple Rain". In the "America" video and in the movie "Under The Cherry Moon" he wore one. In the movie "Sign O The Times" he wore a black leather one". In the "Ryde Devine" he wore a white one. At the opening of his first appearance of "The David Letterman Show" he wore one. On a promo pic for the "Jam Of The Year" tour he wore a white one. I'm sure there have been times after that.

He never retired the trench coat, he just doesn't wear the signature purple one anymore. I really miss the "Dirty Mind" and "Controversy" days with the underwear and trench coat. Now those were the days!

I'd feel pretty sad if he broke out the coat, like he was trying too hard to hang on to former glory neutral P don't need that, let that relic stay in the past...
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

Did'nt Prince were a trench coat or what looks like one in the rave DVD just as he came out and played Purple Rain?

I think If the trench coat does make a come back it should be an up dated version.

purple, paisley and heels will always be trademarks of prince. but purple trench coats are soooo dated. i'm glad prince has been evolving. there is nothing worse than some middle aged rock star living in the past. prince said about the trench coat, " we don't wear this any more!"
20 years from now if prince were to tour and then put on the trench it would be cool.
and when was the last time any one, even conservative business types wearing trench coats?
would you put on a member's only in 2004?
