Love Thy Will B Done

mmm kay so i dunno if this is the wrong forum or not but if it is let me kno....soo n e 1 ever heard that marika song Love Thy Will B Done? it was co written by prince. i just go my cd n the mail 2day and i haven't gotten thru the whole album cuz i keep listenin 2 this one song...its really pretty...c...sounds beautiful.

Love, thy will be done
I can no longer hide
I can no longer run
No longer can I resist the guiding light
It gives me the power to keep up the fight
Love, thy will be done
Since I have found you my life has just begun
And I see all of your creations as one
Perfect, complex
No one less beautiful or more special than the next
We are all blessed and so wise to accept
Thy will, Love, be done

Love, thy will be mine
And make me strive for the glorious and divine
I could not be more, more satisfied (satisfied)
Even when there's no peace outside my window
There's peace inside
And that's why I no longer run (I no longer run)
Love, thy will be done

Love, thy will be done
I can no longer hide
I can no longer run (no, no, no)
Love, thy will be done
Thy will, Love, be done

No longer can I resist (no) the guiding light (guiding light)
The light that gives me power to keep up the fight
I couldn’t be more satisfied (no,no)
Even when there's no peace outside my window
There is peace inside
And that's why I can no longer run
Love, thy will be done (thy will be done, done, done)

Love, thy will be done
I can no longer hide
I can no longer run
Love, thy will be done
Thy will, Love, be done

Love, thy will be done
I can no longer hide
I can no longer run (no, no, no)
Love, thy will be done
Thy will, Love, be done…
Thy will, Love, be done…
Thy will, Love, be done…

I've never actually heard Martika's version, but I have heard Prince's & the NPG's versions, and I like the song very much.
If I want your opinion, I'll beat it outta ya!

The amazingly talented Rahsaan Patterson did bv's on Martika's version.... he emulates prince so well without even trying... and he is a big prince fan himself.

Martika's version is o.k.
I was surprised when it didn't become a hit after it was released.
I also thought that it sounded very much like a Prince song, but at that time didn't relly KNOW it was a Prince song.
THe only part in the song I didn't like is the part that she repeats "Satisfied"--a little over done, like she wsa compensating for not having much soul.

Ofcourse, it could have been becuase she wasn't comfortable singing a song about vaginas, which it obviously is about.

Always loved this song (and it was a hit here in the UK), and one of my fave P live moments was when he played it an aftershow gig at the Astoria in London. George Benson and Chaka had already guested and then he counted off into a rollicking version of Love... Was listening to it on a boot yesterday funnily enough, and it still makes my hairs stand end up.

I agree.. Prince's version is beautiful. & I'm a little embarrassed to say I have a greatest hits CD by Martika.

Yes, it has Toy Soldiers plus the other two songs Prince contributed for her album Martika's Kitchen & Spirit, some other versions, remixes, not a bad al bum, IMO.

Didn't become a hit? Martika's version was pretty popular in the US from what I can remember. I don't have my Billboard Hits book handy, and I know it wasn't a top 5 hit, but I'm sure it was a solid top 40 hit...

My musical tastes have matured with age, but I really enjoyed the "Martika's Kitchen" tape (well, that's what we bought back then...cassettes!) Of course the Prince influence made it that much more enjoyable.

I like both versions of "Love..." It's a lovely song.
