djstretch, it's obvious Ur heart is in the right place. U care 4 the Xperiences that Prince is going through. However, Eye have 2 agree with the rest. This is Prince's personal grief. Allow him the privacy 2 grieve in his own way without having 2 worry about being in the spotlight. If U truly care 4 what he is going through, then do something that will impress upon him the dignity and respect his fams have 4 him. Donate 2 an organization that his mom cared deeply 4, in her name. Eye do believe that the inner city schools in Minneapolis could use donated items and monies. Buy a bunch of art supplies or school supplies 4 the kids at the inner city schools. Leave Prince 2 grieve without a fam presence. Let him just be him this time and not Prince the star.

Prince doesn't need "our" presence there in the form of a few fans to know he has our support and prayers right now...when my sister died I didn't notice anyone at the funeral except for my parents and siblings...to this day I couldn't tell you who else was there, not from memory anyway...so having fans present as some sort of show of respect won't accomplish anything, cuz trust me folks, Prince will NOT be thinking of us in any way, shape,or form at his mother's funeral...(God, just typing that is sad...)...and the LAST thing he needs is some over-zealous fan thinking he/she HAS to go and speak to Prince to let him know why they're there...or worse yet holding up some stupid sign for him to read...let Prince find his own way of dealing with this...don't insist on making your presence known right now.

If you want him to feel "our" support as fans, follow the advice of many who have already posted on here, and find alternative means to express your condolences...cuz there are many, and they will go much farther to expressing support and love than anything your presence at his mom's funeral could possibly do.

as for the notion that "nobody is looking for Prince", why oh WHY would they talk about "fams" being present??? the mere use of that word indicates that they're not looking to say goodbye to a person who touched them; they're looking to identify with Prince - wrong time, WRONG PLACE.

I could see if Prince himself passed away, and fans/fam showed up. He is a public figure his mother was not. Besides if a few people feel they should show up, then who's to say a few hundred people(strangers) wont show. This should be a private service for prince and the family. I am sorry to hear of the the physical loss of both his parents.
