TRC Blitz(Portugal) review {{{Prince is Prince Again. The rediscovery of identity assumed in the moment he declared total freedom from discographic corporations is a narrative current implicit in “The Rainbow Children”, but it doesn’t make his first original album since 1999 a conceptual album.}}}
No, what makes it a conceptual is another finding- Prince delivered himself, more than ever, in the hands of GOD. The Rainbow Children are people of the nation that urges to be constructed, where the reencountered identity and the divine harmony will allow the living in the Everlasting Now. Respecting the hierarchy: God, the Saviour (that is, man), the woman, and children. The story is almost told, when the album is still on its half. It’s the bigoted fervour of NEW MAN that never disappears. There is a little bit of everything in TRC starting by the title-theme, ten minutes of spacial jazz, or spiritual rock-jazz, or free-jazz, where it still remains room for a song thread. “Muse 2 the Pharaoh” warms up in an organ, developing by the sweet aleatority of which Prince knows the secret. “The Work pt.1” is a petard Funk sobbed of James Brown/”Sexy MF” crop, with horns hanging loose, the same horns that make “Everywhere” an incandescent celebration. In Prince´s divine kingdom project, conceives without sin, but with flesh. The copula begins celestial in the very beautiful and ethereal “The Sensual Everafter”, becoming much more material in “Mellow” where the seduction lyric game humour remembers, with relief, that behind a new Prince, there is still a Prince with a dirty mind. Potential singles come after – “1+1+1 is 3”, magisterial funk electro minimal, that could have been taken of “Lovesexy” white chaos, while “She Loves Me 4 Me” exhales tenderness around a classic Princeness soul structure. “Family Name” establishes the direct relation between the rainbow children, the African people and the slavery, with declamation by a computer voice. “The Everlasting Now”, hard and pure funk odyssey, gets near geniality during eight hot minutes, that seem to start in the moment the second part of “Kiss” ended. The end arrives sentimental and apotheotic in “Last December”, literally in the name of the Father and the Son. It continues to worth to notice PRINCE. Hard is to find the albums – in this case, order through Internet seems to be the best solution. ( 7 / 10 ) Jorge Manuel Lopes

This is great and all, but I have some news that I'd like to report. I heard from a friend in LA that Mayte was contacted by Prince to attend his mothers funeral. I also heard that she declined because he reportedly asked that she did not bring Tommy Lee. Now, I was told when Prince and Mayte got married that his mother was not all that fond of Mayte, but was asked by Prince to accept her.
Just thought I'd share Smooches;) Smooches;)
