Norway TRC Review: Unflattering Review of TRC in Norwegian whosepaper (not posted on their website yet)
I sent TRC to the most important papers where I live and today the first review appeared in Dagbladet (Norway's second largest). It's generally a negative review, but with a nice, big picture to go with it, '98 NPS style. Headline reads "A sad destiny" graded 3 out of 6. The reviewer's main beef with TRC is that it just sounds too sketchy and unfinished. The title track is described as sounding like the less memorable moments from the "Hair"-soundtrack. And the robotic narrator gets his share. All in all, it's not a complete butch (the article's subtitled "Prince! He's alive, but just barely:"), but it's clear that he's not too impressed. At its best, TRC sounds like stuff P's done before. In this guy's opinion. So it's pretty much a typical "he was better in the eighties"-review, but at least the name's not an issue this time around. Also on the upside, he didn't mention the mumbo-jumbo JW-meets-Farrakhan-meets-Adolf Hitler-type lyrics. Let's hope for a bit more love from the international music-papers. | |
