I went back and checked and nowhere does she claim Prince mom was a prostitute. She said his mom ran from one relationship to the next to feed her drug habit. Big difference there, and this could certainly be true. I don’t think the entire book is a pack of lies.

Prince(r.i.p.) said similar things about his mother in the beginning interviews of his career. He didn't paint a flattering picture of her that's for sure. In fact he paraded his father around more than anything.

Could you tell us how she calculates that she was Prince's hairdresser for 29 years, because many of us doing research find that not to be the case. Why do you reckon she put his mom.on blast like that?

Discussing the contents of the book is what this thread is all about. So staying on topic would be appreciated.

Not a good idea to discuss stuff that is NOT even in the book.

Kim in her book claims Tonya Thompson walked out on Prince in Dec 1988, and she started taking over as hairdresser. According to available records, Tonya Thompson was still doing his hair in 1993; she took over from Earl Jones who did his hair up to Diamonds and Pearls (album). So Kim takes credit for Batman, Graffiti Bridge (album, film), Diamonds and Pearls, Love Symbol album, and his Act I and Act II tours (1993) for which Tonya Thompson is credited.

Nobody from the inner circle has called her out yet? I think I get why there are 2 more books on the horizon. I mean none of the other hairdressers wanna make claims, nobody, it's all crickets and tumbleweeds. That's what's the most strange.

Folks who worked for him may not be buying books as they have their own memories and busy lives. Tresha Williams is a cancer survivor with her own business, family, book. When people called Kim out for auctioning Prince's hair, she wrote a note saying there was a misunderstanding (the auction house disagreed). Prince's family are knee deep in financial and legal issues, and are likely seeing Kim as we have been, a sincere person who cared about Prince.

Tommy Barbarella, a member of the inner circle cautions,

"No one was close to him. So for anyone to say they were is [bullshit]. If you really know him, you know that."

http://mspmag.com/arts-an...arbarella/

It seems likely that Larry Graham was a confidant, but Larry isn't going about boasting how he was Prince's confidant, or selling fans 'the truth'.

As the money train has taken off, I am proceeding with caution in my readings. Duane Tudahl put 20 years of research into his book, and that is something worth reading.

All that has been true for all the other instances that didn't stop anybody from saying their piece. I guess we'll have to keep waiting.

True, but may take a while. I read a book sometime ago called 'The Sociopath Next Door'... "The covetous sociopath is the ultimate wolf in sheep's clothing."
A fascinating read by Martha Stout.

I haven't seen that many of his associates supporting the book. I did see Shelby's name pop up on one of Kim's FB lives during the Celebration. The one when she toured the Riley Creek tunnel. Shelby posted a positive comment and Kim gave her a shout out so I assume that she supports Kim as well as the book.

I don’t think we an assume it means she supports the book. As far as I know she’s not out there telling people to buy it. My guess is she probably hasn’t even read it. Shelby is positive person who doesn’t seem to have a negative bone in her body. I can’t see her publicly speaking out against anyone.

Looks like Funkenberry is back and will be podcasting again. I’ll be curious to know if he says anything about the book.

Kinda surprising that Neal Karlen was praising Kim as someone who "accurately captured Prince's voice" towards the end of this podcast: https://www.minneapolis.o...e-fifteen/ .
