OK I’m confused. Why is she writing about this? WTF does it have to do with her? It’s totally false advertising as this is NOT what she said the book was going to be about.

Wait til you see what she wrote about his Mom. sad

Let's just say there is sooo much wrong in this book that I don't know where to begin. Kim must be living in her own time, because her timelines are way off.

What she said about his mother isn't cool and can't be backed up. mad

She said Mayte had the miscarriage before the baby was born, Mayte said she had the miscarriage after the baby was born. Who you gonna believe Mayte or the hairdresser?

She said that she couldn't see Prince the day he died because he had already been cremated. NO, he was cremated the next day after the autopsy. Then she said she called Sheila E who told her the memorial service at PP was the next morning, Again not true because that service was on Saturday.

She has a problem with Tyka spending some time with her brother after he passed, and she didn't get to.

She said she was there when the baby was born in the hospital, somehow I don't believe that. She said that when the Drs. were talking about putting a tube in the baby, she told Prince about her brother who had to have a tube and he kept pulling it out, Prince told her not to make him laugh, that he is suppose to be serious.....

I don't believe her on 95% of her book. Her work timeline is off too, Earl Jones was the hairdresser then Tonya, some of the stuff Kim is claiming is their work.....

.

What a load of rubbish this book is. I just read it but wish I didn't.
.

Apart from all the points above (and I agree with them), here's a few more:

.

– The cover says "29 years with Prince" but inside she claims she was hired on Christmas 1988. Now I have no idea why she felt necessary to lie in the first place, but at least she could've made sure that her statements in the book actually support that lie. No matter how I calculate, from December 1988 to April 2016 is only 27 years and 4 months, not 29 years. So even her own statements inside the book contradict the title of the book. Brilliant, isn't it? While of course we all know that neither the 27 nor the 29 years can be true. In reality she must've started sometime during or after the Diamonds & Pearls Tour. That's 24 years the most.
.
– The book is 187 pages in total, but contains only about a 100 pages worth of actual text we might be interested in. The rest is blank pages with some recurring ornaments (most probably from an ancient CorelDraw version) she calls "graphic design", pages with names of hairstyling products, some dreadful drawings P (I'm not referring to Debbie's costume designs) and other nonsense, just to fill the pages.
All this is just to try maximising the income by spreading what could've been a 250 page book into 3 volumes of rubbish. Disgusting.
.
– The writing is terrible, even with the help she got, it's still full of stupid lines like "P was in control of the Monopoly board playing chess while everybody else played checkers". She even repeats something like this later, and by the third mention it becomes a chessboard with Mayte being treated as the queen on it – Berry obviously has no clue of the role of the queen chess piece...

.

Badmouthing not only Prince's, but Mayte's mum, as well as Manuela, is of very poor taste, in my opinion.

.
She's talking about P routinely juggling 2-3 women, yet on another page she says that far fewer women who claimed to have slept with P actually did.
.
Some of the things she gossips about are most probably true but that's no excuse for the rest which are obviously either made up or just hearsay she's trying to pass on as first hand experience. She's totally discredited herself with this one and I've no idea how much support she will get for the next volumes.

.
I had zero intention of buying this but now even the pirated pdf will go to the trash where it belongs.
.

It does explain alot though. Sometimes I used to wonder if Prince was downright evil because of the way he used women and rejected the loving, awesome ones. Now i don't think He is evil at all but He was how He was because evil was done to him and he was deeply wounded. I have empathy for his suffering and a deeper appreciation for the alchemy He did taking something horrible and creating something beautiful in this world. He himself kinda alluded to the fact that his relationship with his mother was troubled from the earing scene in the Purple Rain script . It would be interesting to know who's decision it was to remove that part in the movie and why. Maybe it wasn't Kim's story to tell but it doesn't seem like anyone else is going to and Prince and his mother are both gone now. Maybe some people will be judgemental but maybe someone else will recognize themself in the story and change the course and/or path in their life. If it saved one soul, would that make it Ok?

I did come away with a better understanding of him and the possible reason behind some of his behavior. I found myself questioning a lot that was wrtten, mainly the stories about he and Mayte. The way she had described the book in her interviews, she made it sound like she was going to paint him in a more positive light and focus mainly on the good and I felt she spent needless time talking about the more negative traits of his personality. I came away with the feeling that she didn't have much respect for him or the people in his life She had also said in interviews that the book would be full of stories of her time with him on the road and that ended up not being the case. I was kind of disappointed about that. Glad I didn't buy it and downloaded it fom a link someone shared in a group. I'm hoping that someone who worked closely with him and seems to have love for him as a person like Shelby J or Elisa Fiorillo Dease will eventually write a book about their time with him. I've really enjoyed the stories they have shared in interviews and they seem to have genuinely cared for him.

Thanks for the review...u saved me some cash. Is there any suprise that this trash was self published? Somebody told her trash and lies sell, unlike the sweet stories she was telling in the interviews shortly after his death.

But P's hair was very dark in the earliest photos. Did he dye it while very young?

Photo's is not a good source of a person's true hair color especially old photos and i doubt he dyed his hair when he was young

Steve Parke hasn't been happy with KB because of the picture ordeal where she didn't get his permission.

I hate that I even have to do this, because my time is better spent elsewhere, and just giving it attention is against my instinct, but I need to clarify, FOR THE RECORD: while I did do some pro bono design work for Kim Berry during the very inception of her book project (I was enamored with Kim's personality and storytelling, as I think many of us were), my name, credited with graphic design work, appears IN ERROR in any and all copies of her recent book release. I asked several times to specifically NOT be credited in any way when I WAS briefly on board, so to see my name attached to this project NOW, which I had absolutely NO HAND in, is troubling, and I felt the need to share this publicly. Thanks for your time.

^^THIS I also downloaded the pdf. Wasn’t shocked about the womanizing part because we know that’s true. But she has no damn right to talk about his mother! That‘s the one thing that really pissed me off

I left a review on Amazon but they wouldn't publish it. lol lol

😄😄 I also saw some people getting really exicted on her instagram page and thought: y‘all are in for a surprise!
lol lol lol lol

What scene? 😳 yeah it wasn’t her story to tell and we don’t know if it’s even ture but even if it was...she should’ve just let that part out of the book. If prince would’ve wanted the story to be known, he would’ve told it himself.

But this is only part 1, It's still Part 2 & 3 left.

So part 2&3 are confirmed?? I don’t think anyone will buy the next books

Can't go by album covers and black and white pics. For some reason they liked to darken his skin in his early albums for some reason, I've seen outtakes for the controversy album and there was a huge difference

Lighting can change colors of anything. Just like his eye color changes in different pics. Plus Prince(r.i.p) is also a lot darker in these pics than his normal liteskin complexion.
