No, I meant Mayte, all we know is that she unfollowed Kim on IG like any big girl would. To heck with correcting any lies or typos. Or maybe its true, she had the miscarriage before the baby. That is not what she said in her book though.

Just a question, and I need a logical reason for that, why would Mayte say that the miscarriage of the baby was after ahmir died if it wasn't true? Honestly, I really don't get why she would lie about that.

And a reason for not correcting Kim would be, that it's not worth it. Remember when Steve and the others called her out because of the photos? And she didn't really react, just kept going and the photos are a more serious thing.

I don’t think Mayte lied, I think Kim had a sloppy editor, if she had one at all. Mayte can continue to pretend these things are above her, but as someone who forked over money for Mayte’s book, I’d like a confirmation, but maybe I’m just entitled.

If she or Kim haven't responded yet then that's that. Think what you like. They each have their own set of fans. They both know by now whether it was an error on anybody's part or the truth. I first read it as an error and I'm leaving it at that.

I actually enjoyed this book - I seem to be in the minority. I don’t know I believe she was present when baby was born but I do believe she was there when poor mayte was on bed rest. I could be wrong and she was there when little one came, I don’t know, I certainly wasn't there. I wish some of the teasers at the end had been expanded on. There is plenty of prince being a dick in there. That’s important as he wasn’t a god he was a human and I think most of us are the not so good way than the other most of the time! The contrast between how she speaks of m1 and m2 is fascinatingly blunt. M2 I’m surprised at I have to say. That incident was cold. Wouldn’t you be grateful to even be provided with that kind of service in that situation? You’d have to read the book to know what I mean don’t think I’m allowed to write anything copyright infringing. [Edited 4/26/19 17:23pm]

.

Honestly, how can you believe someone who starts her book with a blatant lie already on the front cover? And while it's true Prince could be a dick sometimes, can you honestly believe that while he was in the hospital with his dying son, he was having a laugh with his hairdresser and said to her "quit making me laugh when I'm trying to be serious"?

[Edited 4/28/19 8:52am]

Prince was such a dick that he gave Kim a job as his personal hairdresser when she was fresh out of school -- he had already done 3 films, won an academy award, grammies, released many albums such as 1999, Purple Rain, Diamonds and Pearls, Graffiti Bridge, Parade, yet he took a chance on her, eventually even helping her start her own business.

She claims Prince always dismissed his women, but even a casual Prince fan knows that isn't true. Vanity left him and chose not to take the lead in Purple Rain -- she left because she wanted more money (being an A list actress and all); never mind that Prince financed the film personally (80% out of his own pocket; 20% funded by Bob Cavallo his manager); Prince pitched a finished film to Warners, and could have lost all his money had they not bought it.

Would Sheila E agree that she was dismissed, having worked with Prince years after they ended their romantic relationship; Devin Devasquez wrote a book claiming she chose to leave Prince; Carmen chose to leave and pursue her own career; Manuela Testolini filed for divorce, not Prince.

Tamron Hall speaks of her friend,

"The only other person I spoke with or speak with more than Prince is my mother," she explained. "This is the person I communicate with more than anyone."

She explained that he did so many great things for so many people—beyond just music—but he always did it in silence.

"There are just great things about him I wish I could tell people, but he wanted them to stay private. He didn't want people to know all of the ways he helped other people. He did it as this silent angel including how he helped me, in my life, on many occasions." - E News, April 22/16

[Edited 4/29/19 16:00pm]

There’s video on YouTube of Carmen being interviewed shortly after Prince passed and she was in tears, and they weren’t phony tears either.

Misty Copeland, American Ballet Theatre Principal Ballerina:
"Working with Prince - experiencing his brilliance, his attention to detail, but also his belief in me - boosted my confidence immeasurably... He gave me confidence I hadn't felt since I was a young dancer. One of the things I most value about our friendship was that he helped me realize my worth at ABT." - Misty Copeland, Life in Motion
American Ballet Theatre is one of the most renowned dance companies in the world; Mikael Baryshnikov was Artistic Director from 1980-90.

I agree! This part of Kim's book is so off the wall and opposite of what Mayte said.

The few interviews this week at the Celebration that Kim did, I'm surprised nobody asked about it, even the fans that were there. Is nobody else questioning it?

She doesn’t need to but if a blatant lie had been told about me I’d clear it up that’s all. Others might not care about it, I would. With all the free and easy and immediate ways of communication, why not?

You mean along with all the other lies essentially constituting the whole book. Are we to expect D'Angelo to tweet that Kim didn't participate in his conversations with Prince. Sometimes a reader's intelligence is good enough; a pregnancy date is the least of the book's problems.

Again, it was not an error. It is what Kim also told Ruth and she's not the only one to dismiss Mayte's timeline of events.

Mayte has the right to talk about her own pregnancy. The hairdresser doing so, and writing about all sorts of negative family issues, even between Prince and his mother in-law is gossip and slander. Why I have cancelled Kim Berry.

[Edited 4/30/19 5:43am]

Also I‘ve never heard anyone publicly state that Mayte’s timeline was off. The only thing I found out was the pills and whine thing. Some people here ( a few years back) posted articles from I think 1996-1998 and one article indicates that „aspirin“ and whine incident happened AFTER Ahmir died. There could be many reasons why Mayte’s timeline was off about that one, and I personally got better things to do than to speculate on that. But the thing about the miscarriage was never openly addressed from others and I still can’t think of any reason why Mayte’s Version wouldn’t be true.

One thing I say about people’s timelines being off is this, and that’s a pretty simple explanation: Sometimes people just remember certain things wrong. It happens all the time.

Yeah, for sure. But it's Mayte's story and life with Prince. Don't think.she needs to justify herself. Up to us to believe what we wish. Her 29 years is easily fact checked but she chooses not to anyway. She tells us Prince would be proud... we know that's not true. I'm just glad Kim wasn't my hairdresser. Judas Priest.

Kim isn’t dumb. She made sure to give all these interviews where she said mostly good things about Prince and got teary eyed. And then show up at all the Celebration events posing for pictures with “fams”, joining “fam” Facebook groups etc. Still I don’t understand how someone could read this book and not have their opinion of her change. confused

Yes, I find it disturbing. The only reason why we read and show up to events is because of Prince. I hope the family and estate will protect Prince's legacy from such people. Her book is full of God references, but all I felt was a flaming Judas.

It's the emotion of the whole event. It's always emotional at the Celebrations and the fans want to feel close to Prince. Rubbing shoulders with the associates, buying merchandise, painting their nails purple, will do the trick.

I'm sure some of them are pretty rational people who outside these events would even say they'd never fall for that stuff. It's the heat of the moment. That's why I always say some associates capitalize on the emotion around his death. Kim's just one of them.
