I thought it was a great listen! She shared some interesting stories I hadn't heard before and I felt she gave good insight into Prince's mindset and their relationship at that time. I loved her story about them snorkeling in France and it's nice that they shared those moments together and she seems content to have those memories. I also thought it was interesting what she said about him having someone contact her right before he passed about working on music again and her saying that he was finally going to meet her kids. It sounds like that was definitely in the works. I would have liked to hear her talk a bit more about the songs she said were written for her. I don't know that I recall her naming "Come Home' before. I love that song and I had assumed that she was the inspiration behind it. I'll have to listen again when I get a second. Thanks again for sharing! |

I loved the additional detail Susannah gave during this second talk with Toure. She is very forthright and open about her relationship with Prince, and gives good insight into the man that he was - both the good and the bad. I'm glad she clarified the longevity of their relationship as well. I had figured it continued - allbeit in a more distant form and more on her terms - well after December of '86. Also interesting that he was flying her over to Europe during the SOTT tour to stay with him.
*
I also find it fascinating that he was still asking to see her and wanting to spend time with her as late as 1993.
*
I do hope at some point she writes her full story. |

Oh, and one of the funniest parts of the interview....
*
Toure: "was Prince a good kisser?"
Susannah: "yes, he was a good kisser"
Toure: "how did he kiss?"
Susannah: "umm...well, I don't know how to...do you want me to show you?"

I agree Pink!! SOOOO many songs for her. I'm surprised she does not mention "Forever In My Life" when she talks about the songs, as this is one that Prince publicly confirmed to be written about her. Clearly, he wanted her in his life long term. Such a shame that he could not be monogamous or vulnerable - two very important pieces needed to sustain a relationship. |

No. Prince called her at 10:00pm when she was about to put her young kids to bed. He asked her if it was a bad time. She said no, I'm about to put the kids to bed, but we're here. Their conversation didn't go well because Prince did not want her to use The Family name for the new record. |

I think he wrote songs for every woman with whom he was more seriously involved - even some for his "flings" ( a la "Bedtime Story" or "Palamino Pleasure Ride"), however, there are no doubt many "Susannah" songs. He communicated and expressed his life experiences through his music, so it makes sense that the women inspired certain songs. |

I think he wanted to be that way at times but he just wasn't cut out for monogamy it seems. I thought it was interesting that she said that he called her to come over because he needed a hug from her. Also that she said he told her he was going to come back for her. That piqued my curiosity a bit because he was in relationships with various women at the time it seemed, namely Mayte. I appreciate her honesty about their relationship and her willingness to admit that it had it's ups and downs. I thought she was very real about everything. |

She tells it straight up. Yes, Prince was clearly not happy by 1993. The fight with WB, changing his name that June, and dating many women from 1990-95. I thought it was interesting that he stayed for an hour - I think there may have been a bit more than just hugging going on during that visit Brings to mind his song "Had U", which he wrote in '93 |

This made me tear up a bit. Because Morris Day recounted some similar things about doing some new music with Prince and touring.
Some serious life lessons continually learned here. |

Yes, it is extremely sad that he was reaching out to many of those who he had been close to in the past and reconnecting and/or making amends not long before he passed. I love that he helped Brenda, Susan and Apollonia monetarily and also reached out to Susannah to help her financially and to work with her again. It shows that he did care about their well being and wanted to maintain relationships with them. |

Not to be knockin Susannah....but she reached out to him for money and he gave her a LOAN, it is in the Estate papers, and they were working on getting that money back from her. Don't know if they did or not, but he didn't reach out to her to help her financially and he didn't just give her the money free. |

Thanks for sharing this entertaining and revealing interview. One of my favorite Prince songs is ‘anotherloverholeinyohead,’ and I like her background singing in it. [Edited 1/4/19 8:17am]

Yes,I appreciated the little details that she shared as well, even revealing that he loved to eat yellow cake with chocolate frosting lol. I don't recall her talking about the breakup before this interview and I was a bit surprised that she went into such detail about it. It does sound like he was going through a hard time around '93 from what she said and I found it interesting he reached out to her like that. It does leave you to wonder what was going on. I want to hear the interview again because I was distracted doing something else while listening. |

He did! I remember his personal chefs talking about making him chocolate chip cookies and lemon cake. He was looking slightly pudgy during that performance on the Alma Awards with Sheila. I remember people were talking about it. He looked like he had a little belly. His clothes were looking a bit tight during the Welcome 2 Chicago shows too. He seemed to be eating very well around that time. |
