I remember seeing that posted somewhere. He told her to write back to him iirc.

sorry I just updated the post above with it

I see that he wrote that he loved her and to please write. Thanks for posting it.

Yes, that card has been posted for awhile. So sweet, and very telling I think.

Yes, it is extremely sad that he was reaching out to many of those who he had been close to in the past and reconnecting and/or making amends not long before he passed. I love that he helped Brenda, Susan and Apollonia monetarily and also reached out to Susannah to help her financially and to work with her again. It shows that he did care about their well being and wanted to maintain relationships with them.

Not to be knockin Susannah....but she reached out to him for money and he gave her a LOAN, it is in the Estate papers, and they were working on getting that money back from her. Don't know if they did or not, but he didn't reach out to her to help her financially and he didn't just give her the money free.

I'm not sure what the date/year was that Prince loaned Susannah money, however, Wendy stated that 6 months before he passed he called her to get Susannah's phone number. So, regardless of the details on the financial side of things he waa trying to resume contact/communication with her not long before his death. This coincides with her discussion about his Engineer calling her on Prince's behalf to send her his song lyrics.

I thought it was a great listen! She shared some interesting stories I hadn't heard before and I felt she gave good insight into Prince's mindset and their relationship at that time. I loved her story about them snorkeling in France and it's nice that they shared those moments together and she seems content to have those memories. I also thought it was interesting what she said about him having someone contact her right before he passed about working on music again and her saying that he was finally going to meet her kids. It sounds like that was definitely in the works. I would have liked to hear her talk a bit more about the songs she said were written for her. I don't know that I recall her naming "Come Home' before. I love that song and I had assumed that she was the inspiration behind it. I'll have to listen again when I get a second. Thanks again for sharing!

I agree Pink!! SOOOO many songs for her. I'm surprised she does not mention "Forever In My Life" when she talks about the songs, as this is one that Prince publicly confirmed to be written about her. Clearly, he wanted her in his life long term. Such a shame that he could not be monogamous or vulnerable - two very important pieces needed to sustain a relationship.

She did mention Forever In My Life, after Come Home

Yes,I appreciated the little details that she shared as well, even revealing that he loved to eat yellow cake with chocolate frosting lol. I don't recall her talking about the breakup before this interview and I was a bit surprised that she went into such detail about it. It does sound like he was going through a hard time around '93 from what she said and I found it interesting he reached out to her like that. It does leave you to wonder what was going on. I want to hear the interview again because I was distracted doing something else while listening.

He loved sweets! I'm surprised that he never gained weight

yeah, I probably tried to keep that under his foot. There was a 2000s period interview where he talked about having gained a little weight. You can see it around the ALMA award show and a few others at that period. I little stomach pouch.

I was not connected to the people that were at Paisley Park (in the media photos) when he passed, outside of Sheila E. So knowing that all of those people were there but not allowed access pisses me off a bit.

He did! I remember his personal chefs talking about making him chocolate chip cookies and lemon cake. He was looking slightly pudgy during that performance on the Alma Awards with Sheila. I remember people were talking about it. He looked like he had a little belly. His clothes were looking a bit tight during the Welcome 2 Chicago shows too. He seemed to be eating very well around that time.

Thanks for sharing this entertaining and revealing interview. One of my favorite Prince songs is ‘anotherloverholeinyohead,’ and I like her background singing in it.

Toure kept asking which songs she inspired the lyrics of, but she did better recalling the ones she sang background vocals on. Lots of the Dream Factory/Camille era.

But let's not try to change the narrative to P reached out to her to give her money, like you did in your post, because from the paperwork, that's not true....

What we do know is she asked him for money and he gave her a loan, made her sign an IOU, the Estate knows the exact amount that is owed to them and it is in the paperwork, whether she has paid the Estate back, or whether they let it go I have no clue.

Now he did give money to Brenda, Susan and was going to for Apples but Apples wouldn't give her account number out. He gave them each 15K, and that was not a loan, that was a gift.

He may have reached out to her for other things, and just because somebody gave him her number doesn't even mean they connected.

He was looking very good and healthy for those shows too. I watched show 2 of Toronto last night and I noticed he was very filled out. Amazing show as well! I was thinking he wore the orange suit at the Grammys in 2015 and the yellow tunic with the moon phases for the AMA's in November 2015 when he came out with the guitar. His face was looking very thin then. At the Grammys,I thought his face looked a bit more filled out.

he was looking thinner around this time forward though. It could easily be bigger clothing.

2009(LotusFlow3r era) he was looking thin and a bit unhealthy too...to me.

Yeah,no doubt he was thinner than say 2013. He appeared to start losing weight in the summer of 2014 and then it looked like it would fluctuate but he was never full again like 2011 and '12. He doesn't look as thin here to me as he did at the end of 2015 at The AMA's,at least in the face and he was even thinner by the time of the NYE show in St. Barts. I thought he looked extremely thin and gaunt during the Lotusflow3r period too. Especially at Montreux. I saw the clip from him at the Grammys in 2015 earlier and when he came out he didn't look too happy and like he was hobbling a bit. He looked like he may have possibly been in pain to me.

Yes - this was written in Matt Thorne's Biography as well. Crazy that they all had to go to the warehouse to record on the day of the wedding. Prime example of the "never or rarely a day off" situation that so many associates/band members have discussed over the years.

Not trying to change the narrative. Susannah stated that Prince had heard that she was really struggling, and he offered to help her. It's also possible that Bobby Z, Paul Peterson, or someone from the old camp contacted Prince on her behalf regarding monetary help. I don't see Susannah personally trying to contact him to ask him for help. They had not spoken in several years due to their feud over the issues with the fDeluxe record, so I would think she would not have expected him to help her at that time.

*

Susannah specifically stated during this interview that Prince's Engineer called her after the Moline incident to tell her that Prince wanted to record with her again, and he was sending her lyrics to review. She stated that the Engineer told her Prince wanted her to look at them as a start to the process. Prince often reached out to people via his associates.

Yes, I think that is just unacceptable, and really a low blow. Regardless of the time period, those people meant a lot to Prince, and were all a huge part of his life and career for many many years. Just bad behavior in my opinion.

I thought that was funny what she said about Bobby turning to her and saying "This is your fault isn't it"? I was thinking that she mentioned that in the interview that aired previously. From the way she described it,it seemed to me that Prince was so excited to record the song that he wanted to get it done right away while he was still in the place he was in emotionally and as a sort of apology to her. Then the trip to New York and buying the ring afterwards, then the trip to Paris. He seemed to be in a vulnerable place at the time.

Yes, it really showcases how Prince needed to play the music not only to communicate his feelings, but also to relieve himself of whatever emotions he had built up internally. Quite amazing really. I also loved that quote from Bobby, because it demonstrates that they all knew this about him as well.

*

I think there may be some deeper detail with their fight and what led up to their temporary split, because he also recorded Go and Sexual Suicide in the same sessions (per princevault), which refers to his woman cheating on him and/or wanting to leave him.

*

It really just makes these songs all that more special, because he truly was "in the moment" with the music and lyrics - like a real "day in the life" of this man and his feelings. So great!

Susannah did state that Prince was extremely generous with helping her during a very difficult time. She and Toure are also friends, so I'm sure he was respecting her privacy. This was not a "let's try to get every detail" interview. He was being considerate and giving her time to clarify certain parts of her relationship with Prince without being too intrusive.

WTF?
What privacy?

It was in the Estate filings.
