Right, I understand that. But the discussion was focused more on the time that she spent with Prince, the music they recorded, and their relationship. It was not to get details on a loan amount or documents she signed for the loan. I personally could care less about that, but to each his own.

But what I am saying is that "friends" cant get to the truth on any subject by interviewing a "friend" and never asking the hard questions. Toure failed by not following up with hard questions about what SM said about anything in her interview.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Exactly! I got the sense that he had to get it out. I agree there was possibly something deeper going on. Those songs are so intense too!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
But why the need for "hard" questions?? This was not meant to be some type of interrogation. It was two friends, both of whom knew and loved Prince, discussing one's special relationship and history with him. It wasn't meant to delve into the details of her financial situation.

I really love that song. He sang it with such intensity everytime - even in later years.

I'm done with these people trying to change the narrative to what they want to believe and not what really happened. It's in black and white print in the Estate filings.

You just said that they haven't spoken in years, and yet there is an IOU on file with the court. You are speculating. Notice where you said that Prince's Engineer called her after Moline....but before you made it to look like Prince asked for her number so HE could call her.
How much are these people being paid for these interviews? Are they doing it from the goodness of their heart?........DOUBTFUL. $$$$$ There is always something in it for them. Always. $$

Huh? You are the one who brought it up in the 1st place, Post #20....You tried to change the narrative and you were called out about it.

You just said that they haven't spoken in years, and yet there is an IOU on file with the court. * Did you even listen to her discussion with Toure?? Susannah stated the last time SHE personally spoke to him was when he called her to discuss using the name of The Family prior to releasing the first fDeluxe record, which would have been at some point in 2010-2011. * You are speculating. Notice where you said that Prince's Engineer called her after Moline....but before you made it to look like Prince asked for her number so HE could call her. * Wrong - that is not at all what I stated. I said that WENDY stated in an interview after he passed - when she was asked the last time she had spoken to him, she stated, "about six months ago when he called me to ask for my Sister's phone number. It was a very normal conversation." That would have been around October of 2015. Obviously, Prince did not call her directly, but had his Engineer contact her April of 2016, which she stated during this interview.
I never said there wasn't a difference. The fact is, Prince did not have to do anything to help Susannah, but he obviously felt compelled to do so - gift or loan - it doesn't matter. What he gave her at that time obviously helped her out of a tough situation.
How much are these people being paid for these interviews? Are they doing it from the goodness of their heart?........DOUBTFUL. $$$$$ There is always something in it for them. Always. $$ * What Susannah does with HER own possessions is absolutely her choice. As she stated very eloquently in her interview for RR auction - the items served their time with her, and she was ready to pass them on to another who would appreciate them as a devoted fan of Prince. The items would not have the same meaning to her daughters, who were not around nor do they understand that time period for her and Prince.

PennyPurple said: Huh? You are the one who brought it up in the 1st place, Post #20....You tried to change the narrative and you were called out about it. * I changed no narrative at all. As I said to you, I highly doubt Susannah personally contacted Prince to ask for money - show me the proof of her initiating contact. Again, more than likely, a mutual friend/past associate reached out to him about her situation. Although, in the 2014/15 time frame it was well publicized in the media, and even here on the Org that Susannah was having major financial difficulties. A friend of hers had also set up a GofundMe page for her as well. So, I have no doubt that Prince knew full well of her situation without her having to contact him. * PennyPurple said: But Toure didn't fail to ask if Prince was a good kisser, and she went into detail about that..... * Right, because the discussion was about her relationship with Prince. AGAIN....did you even listen to the discussion?? So, Susannah saying, "yes, he was a good kisser" is her going into detail about it?? Oh, okay. I guess we have completely different definitions of the word "detail"....

I get it. Would Toure have been my choice to interview her?? No. I would have much preferred that she have another longer sit-down with Questlove, who is part of the Princ-o-pedia pack, knows the Prince history/music, and would ask the great questions.

Seriously Violet? Stop trying to change the narrative, to what you want it to be. THAT is the problem. It's in Black and White and it's filed with the COURT. AND YOU ARE THE ONE WHO BROUGHT IT UP ON POST 20.
You don't know what you are talking about...but you always think that you know everything. What a joke. [Edited 1/4/19 20:23pm]

Oh yes PennyP....those "black and white" documents filed with the court tell us soooo much, don't they? Can you post where in those documents it states that Susannah Melvoin personally called Prince to ask him for a loan?? Can you post on what date she contacted him to ask for said loan? Can you post the details of their conversation? Doubtful...very doubtful, because loan documents typically don't provide information of that nature. * Violetcrush post #20: Yes, it is extremely sad that he was reaching out to many of those who he had been close to in the past and reconnecting and/or making amends not long before he passed. I love that he helped Brenda, Susan and Apollonia monetarily and also reached out to Susannah to help her financially and to work with her again. It shows that he did care about their well being and wanted to maintain relationships with them. * Susannah stated in this interview that Prince "had heard that she was struggling" - she did not say "I was struggling, and I contacted Prince to ask him for help". Susannah also stated in this interview "after Moline Prince's Engineer called me to tell me that he wanted to record with me again". Prince's Engineer would NOT have contacted Susannah without Prince's direction to do so. * SO AGAIN....NO NARRATIVE CHANGED AT ALL HERE

She said she was with him, although not living with him, six out of seven days a week. Then suddenly she’s so lonely she up and leaves Minneapolis and goes to live with her sister? Nah, didn’t happen like that, and I too, found myself with a headache trying to fit several different “realities” she came up with together. I hope she gets her stories straight before the next interview. I don’t know why she’s ashamed to say he broke up with her, it happens to most of us.

She said he wanted her to leave the house, because he wasn't ready to cohabitate. Like every single one of his relationships - he wanted to "have his cake and eat it too" - literally and figuratively it seems, based on the interview. She stated that it broke her heart. Regardless of the fact that he was with her 6 out of 7 days of the week - who would want to sit around knowing that the person they love is most likely with another chick - even if it's just one night out of the week?? Not me. * Also, she wasn't just referring to the physical time she spent alone. She was explaining that, because it was always "his way" and there was essentially no two-way communication or any discussion of feelings, being in a relationship with him was very lonely. She said when he moved to LA for two months trying to get her to come back to MN with him she told him she couldn't be alone anymore. He responded, "you won't be alone. I'll be there". But her point was that she always felt alone with him, because he could not let his guard down and have a normal relationship.
I completely understand why she packed up and went back to LA. However, based on his efforts to get her back to MN he clearly didn't want to lose her.

Susannah did state that Prince was extremely generous with helping her during a very difficult time. She and Toure are also friends, so I'm sure he was respecting her privacy. This was not a "let's try to get every detail" interview. He was being considerate and giving her time to clarify certain parts of her relationship with Prince without being too intrusive. What she failed to say is that she’d started a gofundme asking for money and was on Facebook bitching about not being paid well or correctly when working for Prince. If I saw it, I’m sure he saw it or someone close to him saw it. I love how people like to re-write history but their were fans who witnessed these things. [Edited 1/4/19 21:31pm]

Wrong. A good friend of hers created the GoFundMe page during the time when her Ex was not paying support. Susannah did not start the page.
*
Yep. She did have a "made shitty pay at Paisley Park" under the Former Employer section on her FB page. Every single person in his camp back then has stated they made very little money while working with/for him - everyone. Prince made millions though. Not saying he didn't deserve it. However, it seems he could have "shared the wealth" a bit more during that time.

Yes I was just listening to the live version on C-Note. The version at Montreux 2009 and Zurich 2011 are two of my favorites. The ones that he did with 3rd Eye Girl were nice too,I thought and I loved that he played piano for them. I think the rehearsal that he shared with 3rd Eye Girl with the melancholy piano outro is beautiful.
