I do love me some Jill, but let's not forget the panty scene from Graffiti Bridge cuz like... Or maybe it's because she has survived being objecified that she is very BOOM about this topic?

where am I suggesting PurplePenny hates you? why would I assume that

.

I'm cool with PP and wouldn't put that thought out there, I also remember you two being in cohoots in the Prince is Political thread, where U said 'politics doesn't divide...' lol remember? So I know you and Penny are cool. Why would you suggest I'm insinuating hate?

And even if you two are the best of friends you would have the right to set her straight if she really did say that. It would be unbalanced to not do so right?

.

The phrase "don't hate me (or that)" - is ALSO a joke. Other people say it too.

Similar to "that don't suck" when you like something.

I think these photos are beautiful, and don't seem to be objectifying. Just nature, beautiful.

So this isn’t a still shot or pose, this in a movie and the character is in motion in the film? If she is in motion it might read differently. With all the Hollywood sexual business I have to wonder if the director asked her to pose that way and what was she/he trying convey. Young young girls often sit in less than typical adult lady ways. In the movie is the girl alone in a private moment? What movie is it?

You'd have to see the movie to get why that young lady's pose would remind me of that movie. It wasn't this shot I was referring to but the content of the movie.

An African American woman living away from her family in Los Angeles yearns to be recognized for more than her physical attributes. In cultivating the friendship of a male office mate, she aspires to a relationship where romance is not a factor, seeking someone who can "see her as she is," rather than see only what he wants to see. —Samuel B. Prime

Producer: Claudine Mitchell, Dankwa Khan. Screenwriter/Editor: A. S. Larkin. Cinematographer: Charles Burnett. Cast: Adisa Anderson.

16mm, color, 51 min.

Yeah...that's not what feminism is about. Whether you are a man or a woman, you will never, ever not be judged.

But I'd expect a man to miss the point.

I know your other comments, and you are one of those who blame women if they get molsted by men if they wear "the wrong" clothes. YOU are not the one to tell any other woman what she has to wear to not get judged.

And you just degraded me for being a man, and that I don't get the point of feminism, while I am the one of the tow of us, who doesn't judge a woman by her clothes.

And you just told a woman what she thinks - or should think - based on nothing but assumptions you have drawn from the bullshit in your own head.

THAT is the ultimate anti-feminist (and totally dick) maneuver.

Dismissed.

But that is the thing with 'movements' now a days... people only have so much information on 'movement's until more is revealed.

I don't think she is unbalanced in her reaction

I'm confused, so a few days ago criticism for a young woman that she preceived as not following #metoo mandates, now doesn't have any support for #metoo? Alrighty, then.

I don't think she's against the #metoo movement, at all. I think she is making an important distinction between women who have suffered real sexual assault and harrassment, and those want to use #metoo as a catch-all airing of grievances against men.

Being whistled at on the street is not the same as being raped. One is sexual assault and the other is not. Losing a job because you won't submit to a superior's sexual advances is not the same as a guy you are not attracted to asking you out and backing off when you say "no." The former is sexual harrassment, the latter is not.

She is arguing for women to handle their business wherever and whenever possible. To be able to say "no." To not allow themselves to be objectified - which means not being pushed into the "sex sells" game. And, if you do decide to play that game - to own it and not be a big, whiny baby when people call you out.

Because standing up and taking responsibility is the real power.

So what's the issue with this young lady choosing to pose as she posed?

Jill apparently feels that it's a pandering, exploitive pose. If that is her opinion, she has a right to express it.

She is entitled to her opinion but it contradicts with her own practice. Why judging other artists on things Jill does/did herself?

This is my normal life. These marital standards cannot be recreated with money.

We all have the right to express our thoughts. Given that Lil Kim, like 20 years ago did a pose that actually emphasized you looking directly at her covered coochie, looking at this photo I'm not getting the same vibe. Maybe it's a prespective thing. I don't know this person music but my first impression was it's a power/confidence stance.

"Contradicts her own practice" when? Has Jill done a crotch shot recently?

Maybe she has regrets - and is trying to help others to avoid the same mistakes she feels she has made? (Though I do not remember Jill ever sitting like this.) Maybe she feels women should be beyond this kind of image in 2018

I mean…c'mon - Jill Jones (the album) came out over 30 years ago. People are entitled to change their minds. But I guess one woman's personal growth is another woman's hypocrisy.

Let me ask you this: If someone who smoked dope and tried cocaine in her youth had a child, would she be a hypocrite to tell her kid not to do drugs? If a woman who had an affair with her married boss told her daughter, "It's a bad idea to sleep with a married man and an even worse idea to sleep with a married man who's your boss, " would she be a hypocrite? Are the convicted drunk drivers who lecture kids on the dangers of drinking and driving hypocrites?

What Genesia said is spot on.... we grow up and learn, thoughts, attitudes and opinoins change, we see the world differently.

Maybe Jill should've made more of a reference to her own past artistic choices then she probably wouldn't be getting as much flak.
