True, with age comes wisdom. BUT (there's always a but) why take her anger out CC? When there are sooo many other artists that really, really has done much worse, then this young girl. Jill posed nude on her album cover. This album cover of CC, isn't even anything compared to what Jill has done.

That's the million $ question but unless Jill comes out with a defined reason why she has singled out this particular cover we'll never know the answer.

I don't think she's against the #metoo movement, at all. I think she is making an important distinction between women who have suffered real sexual assault and harrassment, and those want to use #metoo as a catch-all airing of grievances against men.

Being whistled at on the street is not the same as being raped. One is sexual assault and the other is not. Losing a job because you won't submit to a superior's sexual advances is not the same as a guy you are not attracted to asking you out and backing off when you say "no." The former is sexual harrassment, the latter is not.

She is arguing for women to handle their business wherever and whenever possible. To be able to say "no." To not allow themselves to be objectified - which means not being pushed into the "sex sells" game. And, if you do decide to play that game - to own it and not be a big, whiny baby when people call you out.

Because standing up and taking responsibility is the real power.

So what's the issue with this young lady choosing to pose as she posed?

Jill apparently feels that it's a pandering, exploitive pose. If that is her opinion, she has a right to express it.

That is the gist I’m getting as well and agree it’s her opinion
And she has the right to express it.

"Contradicts her own practice" when? Has Jill done a crotch shot recently?

Maybe she has regrets - and is trying to help others to avoid the same mistakes she feels she has made? (Though I do not remember Jill ever sitting like this.) Maybe she feels women should be beyond this kind of image in 2018

I mean…c'mon - Jill Jones (the album) came out over 30 years ago. People are entitled to change their minds. But I guess one woman's personal growth is another woman's hypocrisy.

Let me ask you this: If someone who smoked dope and tried cocaine in her youth had a child, would she be a hypocrite to tell her kid not to do drugs? If a woman who had an affair with her married boss told her daughter, "It's a bad idea to sleep with a married man and an even worse idea to sleep with a married man who's your boss, " would she be a hypocrite? Are the convicted drunk drivers who lecture kids on the dangers of drinking and driving hypocrites?

Didn't she publicly took off her underwear in the movie Graffiti Bridge?

If she is trying to help others avoid the mistakes she made, she sure is not using the best strategy (negativity). Someone who used to "smoke dope" (to follow your example) should start with empathy, understanding, and invite the current smoker to a different approach. Definitely not shaming one on social media.

What Genesia said is spot on.... we grow up and learn, thoughts, attitudes and opinoins change, we see the world differently.

Maybe Jill should've made more of a reference to her own past artistic choices then she probably wouldn't be getting as much flak.

...and that gives her the right to go on social media to denigrate another artist? If I don't want you to make the same mistake I made, I sure would address you privately and find a positive way to reinforce my point. I wouldn't humiliate you publicly...unless you start messing with me wink

Honestly, I don't believe her goal is to help someone else not make the same mistakes, I'm sure a whole lot of other people see it as something else too. First, one has to acknowledge their own miserable mistakes before they can be preceived as someone reaching out to help someone else. Maybe she has and whoever keeps passing her comments around leaves all that out. Then shame on them. Otherwise...it sure looks odd and random.

This is an issue, when it comes to a lot of 'sexual' things.
People have varying opinions according to their 'morality'

on what is too much, wrong, pandering etc

I mean if you saw someone at the beach in summer in a 3 piece suite and not a bikini or briefs etc we would think something is wrong with them, and if someone went to the beach and judged a woman that looked like Jill in that last picture(while wearing beachwear) then something would be wrong with them. Similarly if someone came to City Hall McDonalds or Pier 1 looking the same in beachwear we would say it is inappropriate.
.
But I see anything wrong with the Lovesexy photo. Nothing.
And I don't see anything wrong with JJ last photo either. BUT the why she used that photo for the cover would be the reason. Even though I see it as art.

I think there is a big difference between nudity and blatant 'in your face sex'

The phrase "don't hate me (or that)" - is ALSO a joke. Other people say it too. Similar to "that don't suck" when you like something.

I think these photos are beautiful, and don't seem to be objectifying. Just nature, beautiful.

Jill has more flesh on show in that photo than Camilla has on her album cover. Hypocrite? I think so.

The epitome of, quite frankly. On Amazon, her album, I Am, with this full nude body shot has an EXPLICIT rating due to her song titled F●ck You Til You're Groovey (or some such ish). Further, perhaps I am naive, but when I look at CC's album photo, I see a young, beautiful woman in a colorful dress.....I don't immediately suspect this is a nod to her coochie. Jill's scrutiny and judgement of this artist and her album photo is rather petty and unnecessary, imo.

Point is look what Jill has done and she's ranting and shaming another artist for a cover photo and the other artist is fully clothed.

Personally, nakedness does not bother me. These photo's do not bother me. What Jill is doing now, bothers me.

Jill always seems to over step her bounds. Like others have said, if she wanted to help or give advice to CC, then reach out to her in some private form. Jill didn't do that. Jill is known for her rants. Jill needs to sweep off her own doorstep, and teach her daughters, nieces, grandchildren, whomever to not do what she did, which is stab other women in the back for her own gain. For goodness sakes look what she did to Susannah and the other women, and she didn't care and it made her happy, she didn't care what pain she did to others.

Jill did no homework, since it’s a cover there is nothing sexual in the music at all but she didn’t listen to it she judged a book by the cover, which is what women do to other women all the time. The dress on the cover is part of the young woman’s culture in Cuba which again Jill did not do homework and comes off as ignorant .

Because it’s a number one album and single and she is doing promo now so Jill wants to jump on her so people will hear her voice. Not sure why she doesn’t jump on other females who are way more popular and in the light but that’s Jill and why none of her points seem to make sense overall.

Jill fails to mention how Cabello left a group because those behind the scenes were not letting her have a voice, wanting to do more risqué images within the group, which she felt didn’t need to be done she fails to mention she walked away from a group that sold millions had endorsements and tours to go solo and honestly had Havana not caught on she was in trouble because the first two singles prior to being scrapped from the album barely were top 40. So CC actually did something Jill never did, speak up at that age, walk away from money and success Jill never did that she hung around Prince as did other scantily clad ladies.

Posing in a suggestive manner really doesn't rank with your examples. All of those examples involve others and things that alter your brain chemistry. This is one photo in several hundred this singer will likely take. If she wants to school her she should do it privately.

I totally get your very valid point. It all still looks to me like a lot of grieving still and processing And “trying” to move forward. It has got to be majorly difficult For those that tasted his breath to move on. I ache for them because of that It was a blessing and a crippling for them. Imo.

Actually JJ posted like this regularly before Prince died

Even though I see it as art.

.

We are naked beings who put on clothing.

I think there is a big difference between nudity and blatant 'in your face sex'

Well, if it's on Hollywood Blvd it might be just another ordinary Tuesday.

LOL well yes, I should have indicated the Hollywood Blvd... and some places in NYC too lol

That Camila Cabello cover is tame compare to other covers that has come out. So I don't what she going on about. Some people will say the picture is artistic or high fashion, some will say it's pussy poping and highly sexualized. When I saw the picture, I thought it was a pretty cover. The dress is thick not very skimpy but she not all cover up either. I won't pose with my legs open wide like that cover because I don't it's elegant but I also don't think she is pussy poping in the pic either. How can she talk about someone else when she took a picture not too long ago where she has no clothes on and is singing some sexual songs as well on the record. Jill took these picture fairly recently so no one can say Prince push her to do anything and it's was taken in the 80's. What is her reason for doing these pictures?

There is nothing sexual about Cabello's record at all. The only time she even references "sex and intimacy" it is during a song called "Into in it" where she is going on about things and being "into them" and they are simple and then she sings "there's a king size bed I think we should get into it", now is that Jill's idea of sexually charged lyrics??? Because she doesnt even reference SEX with that, she doesnt sing lets get in bed and Fu** like most would from today be it in rap or even some of the RB POP artists. So again Jill posting this album cover like Cabello was saying "come get my P****Y" or even hinting that was her idea is stupid and so lame to be honest. I mean so much out there to make a case about that are blatant with it she shys away from propbably because if she jumped on someone like a Cardi B or Nikki M theyd jump on her ass all over the place, and Cabello can give two shits who Jill Jones is or her weak points.

Sorry but Jill is spot on. I'm still trying to figure out how modern pop culture got away with redefining feminism as coohie popping? Every single female being shoved down our collective throats is a pop tart with cotton candy for brains. I notice that there is a whole lot more diversity amongst the top male acts. Cabello looks and sounds like a carbon copy of a dozen others before her. Everybody now is either a Beyonce clone, Rihanna clone or a Nikki Minaj clone. Smfh.

It has little to do with what R. Kelly or Chris Brown do onstage because men are not historically the main victims of sexual exploitation. Authentic feminism consists of advocating for who we are, as we are and NOT how well we can emulate what men do. Our strength is that we are not like men, nor do we have to be, or want to be.

Feminism is supposed to be about the idea that our undervalued qualities are every bit as valuable and essential to humankind as our counterparts and should be respected as such. It is about fighting for society to recognize the value of what we bring to the table. Men already think that we are just walking, talking pussies, that is the reason that the women's movement was more about getting society to understand that we are people with actual minds, thoughts, opinions, creativity, resourcefulness, strength, etc.........

It amazes me that the trend is going back toward women's value once again being defined by their pussies. eek

So we're supposed to take someone seriously who came into the public eye in a negligee and police hat? Or left her panties in front of the Glam Slam?? This post of her's could only be better if G Spot was playing in the background while her bitter ass read this out loud.

Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

And I guess you just proved her point, no one will take you seriously if you dress
A certain way. No matter how much you have the right to do so. Jill exercised her rights early on in her career now she is exercising another right. She is entitled to those freedoms as we all are. I don’t agree with singling out
Anyone to make the point however.

Okay, I read this post several times now and I just can't resist to givin' my 2 cents. What I tried to explain in my last posts was this: I don't get what's so bad about women posing like this? You know why I ask this question? No one would call a man a slut for doing exactly the same, I mean, let's take Usher for an example, if he'd pose without a shirt, just showing off his abs, people would say: "Well, he's sure of himself." Another double standard, if a man poses almost naked for a magazine or is naked in a movie won't be viewed as a slut or an object, this guy would still have chances to be casted as James Bond or every other role his heart desires. Because he's a man, and most of the time, men can do whatever they want to, without facing consequences for their career.

THAT's why I say, a cover like Camila's can empower young women to do whatever they want to and fighting for it! Prostesting like this and making a point, and tell the society that, even if a woman displays her body like that, she's still not just an object. She's just sure of herself.

AGAIN: The society creates these standards, and the problems that come with it. But I say, women shouldn't back down just because society wants them to act a certain way. The society shouldn't be allowed to judge a woman, as long as she's not killing someone, you don't need to care what she does. Yesterday I read somewhere that a boy in school grope a girl under her skirt, the school reacted in the wrongest of ways, they changed the girl's clothes were changed to pants.

You wanna know what you teach not only girls, but boys too? You teach the girls: "If you dress a certain way, you get touched without your permission." And you teach the boys: "If a girl dresses a certain way it's her own fault."

And THAT's anti feminism, teaching women to behave a certain way, or else they are not allowed to complain about being called a slut. If you wanna go that road, good luck. Because it's a fucked up road.

Now y'all can go on and call me names, and tell me again that I don't get it, because I am a man, but I go by: "Everybody is free to do whatever they want as long as they don't seriously harm anyone." I think our society should learn that 2.

I'm not saying that women don't use this tool to sell their music, but men do the same and no one shits on them for that. So stop shitting on women.
