Really? Hmmm.

Personally, I think everything Prince did for Larry was out of admiration and gratitude. Yes - gratitude. I think Prince was in a very bad way in the late 90s and that it is just possible that Larry Graham saved his life - to say nothing of his career.

Yes, of course it was out of admiration and gratitude. That is not debated.

But Larry Graham still got the gravy as a result of his connection to Prince(we are talking about career)

What gravy? Gravy like getting paid when he toured with Prince in 1997? I saw those shows - Larry worked - and was great. Gravy like getting paid for Rave Un2 the Year 2000? Again - work.

I do not understand how getting paid for work is gravy. Larry's stature as (maybe) the best bass player ever was well established before Prince was anything, at all. Prince idolized him.

Had Prince given him the multimillion dollar estate in Turkey Cakehole, that would have been gravy. So I guess it all depends on your definition of "gravy." I don't think free rent in an ordinary house in a suburb of cold-ass Minneapolis comes close.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Honey, I don't care about what other people said. I care about what you said - and why you would make such a ridiculous allegation. BTW, Larry Graham is not even mentioned in posts 260, 303, 368 and 392.

You're tired, all right.

Ok now that the room is clear.
Can anyone with real objective insight share how they see where Larry Graham
Slothfully rode the gravy train. Or as ISLIJAG said
“Made mucho dinero” from working with Prince. Can any associate say that?

If no specific examples can be provided other that he worked and played bass then
I’m good and thx anyway!

Nope, LG doesn't get a free pass. He rode the purple train for years. He benefited from Prince, that is for sure. LG latched onto him when Prince was in a fragile state from his son, and didn't let go. LG and his wife lived in a Prince owned home, the JW's made out $$ wise from Prince, etc.

Nobody else gets a free pass here on this forum, LG doesn't either.

For me Penny none of those things are gravy train riding.
To me gravy training would be taking something of P’s watering it down and reselling it as my own. Or selling my association with him for profit to soon after death.
*
Did Larry stalk him out like M2? If so then I wasn’t aware.
But if they were already working together and he offered his outlook on life
And P took it then that is on Prince and his choice.
*
Prince housed many people, seemed to be his love language in a way, gifts. Larry isn’t the only benefactor in this regard. Princes choice, not gravy train riding imo. And perhaps that was part of his payment for working, he is older and knew Prince likes to work into the night and be at beck and call so I could see and older musician saying well I need to be close to home if we r gonna work into the wee hrs of your gonna call me to jam at a moments notice at 2am. Prince liked people at his beck, free rent in my opinion is a fine and well arranged agreement for that inconvienience.

*
JW made out to what ever amount Prince was felt fit to write a check for. He made well so I would hope he gave well.

*
I can not personally speak on any manipulation that may have taken place between the two men. Prince was known for his manipulating ways and I wouldn’t call that gravy train riding. Manipulating someone into doing something isn’t gravy training to me that is just manipulating.

Thx
