I love you Vashtix but that is a false statement. are you telling me, they ascribed Susannah to all those songs? The answer is no.

what are you correcting? And it still does not negate the Vanity origins.

Well Laurichardson is not unfamiliar with trying to rip others so...

It is the same things that has been discussed. She didn't say anything different from the first time she talked about it.

Did you read he interview? Quote:
Do you know who it was written about? The wooh is on the one!

Nothing different from what she said in the first interview where she talked about the song. And the response is the same. You are thinking in 'black n white' boxes. There are about 10 shades of gray.

There are no shades of grey here:
Do you know who it was written about? The wooh is on the one!

Yes, we want more indepth information and background. It was a quick answer thus gray

Well it isn't true that people 'conveniently' forget the others. But Prince only 'acknowledged' certain people. Any other 'unknown' woman that had sex with Prince, if she is looking for her 5min, should not be suprised if people don't give it much attention. . The thing is it was only certain songs that any inspiration was given too, not all of them. So there are many other songs about a woman that was never ascribed to Susannah. I can agree. We need to find Nikki and give her some love!!!!

Yes he did, and I believe it was partially why 'purple culture' was so addictive, and 30+yrs later It needs to be a college elective course. And I totally agree here!!! Speaking of I heard that university of Minnesota was putting together a symposium that may coincide with celebration next year, do u know anything about this?

But that is not what Jill is saying. She is saying she was around when the song was originally written and given to Vanity.
What if Vanity's brother in law produces the tape and some written correspondence concerning the song since he said she kept everything. Some of you need to realize that other associates are alive and well and they are not going to just sit back and let these two make up stuff or overstate their involvement.
Not sure why people on this board are okay with the overstating.

I believe Vashtix is being sacastic. As in W&L think Susannah was the only women in P's life so all songs must have been about her when we know he was seeing many others.

I am sorry but too many people on this board just make up shit and refuse to even read, think or look up anything to refrute their comments. I am good with " I stand corrected" It is not about ripping anyone some of you just cannot stand to be wrong which is odd because all of us are wrong sometimes.
I also never said the Revolution was cashing in by touring. Someone is going to have to help with vault material and they are not going to be doing this for free. Down the road people are going to be compensated and you can see numerous associates trying to get the gig.
It is going to happen let's stop pretending.

I have no idea how my original thread about the four ladies being banned from PP, has escalated into who wrote "wonderful ass"? Unless they got their asses out at PP and got banned (lol) this thread's gone off topic. {Sigh}

Again, you are not thinking outside of the block you are placing this.
But the brother in law has nothing about it from 1985 or 1986
What was Tick Tick Bang about in 1981 vs 1990, did inspiration change? Was it about something specific or someone specific? in 1981 and then other inspirations add onto it in 1990?

Yes, where is Nikki lol and then it would still have a dual inspiration lol

So the idea for the song changed a few years later? You realize that if the song was written about a lady's rear end unless her rear end fell off the song was still originally written about that women butt. I simply think Lisa is a goofball and is wrong on this one and you are determined that this song was about S+L come hell or high water. So think what you want to think and I will think what I want think. Oh you have no idea what documents or papers her brother-in-law has as he said she almost threw nothing away.

Not trying to deter the current conversation but I am thinking that since we are learning Prince and Denise were close over the decades there is much none of us know. I had no idea they were close over the decades. I have to say we have absolutely no real knowledge of many things. I am thinking of the famous line "you can't handle the truth." and I am admitting I do not think I can. [Edited 8/18/17 17:33pm]

You know, it is possible (since they were both around at about the same time) that Prince gave it to both of them. He could have told Denise that it was about her and that it was her song, but then (knowing how Prince could change his mind with a blink of an eye) told W&L that he had written it about Susannah. And if that is the case, then neither of them are lying, neither of them are making things up, they are both relaying the truth as they saw it and was told by Prince. Prince was a HUGE player and it seemed to be a part of his M.O. "This song is about you (for you)". I'm sure that statement made many a woman swoon right into his arms. [Edited 8/18/17 17:51pm]

It was mentioned Vanity used to play it preparing to go on stage during the Triple Threat Tour since Prince gifted it to her. Susannah was not around during that time.

Give it up Benni. You make sense. Sense never wins on the org.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
You talked about 'players' before, seems you studied a book on it or something. Why is this so hard to believe? Again, unless someone was in the camp in 1984-86 sharing paperwork with Denise's brother in law, there is a high probability that he doesn't have anything from that period.

Prince & Vanity communicated still. I don't think they were lovers still. I knew for a while that Vanity & Prince stayed in touch. Not many people from that 78-88 period he did not stay in touch with. Doesn't mean he continued to write songs about Vanity.
