If you believe Dez, there's a chance Prince never intended to keep The Revolution past 1986.

He gave the keynote at the Purple Reign Conference earlier this year which I attended, and when discussing his leaving the band, he said that in 1983, Prince told him that if he wanted to stay, he'd need him to guarantee a 3 year commitment. So, 1983-1986.

Meaning there's a very chance that Prince planned the entire "Prince & The Revolution" run in advance and always knew that he'd make a major change towards the end of 86.

I don't think that was the intent.

I don't think Prince knew what kind of rollercoaster of life would take place to be able to say that.

Listen Stanley, I am commenting on the topic like anyone else. The fact that you continue to follow me around and troll as though others such as Rogi and Morningsong didn't make similar comments makes me wonder why you are sooo obsessed with me?

No one is obsessed with you and I comment plenty on the nonsense of complaint about certain topics and still clicking on the topics anyway. Stop wasting your time since these topics are so beneath you.

Nah Stanley, I think I'm gonna hang around a lil 'mo longer and watch while these guys hand you your ass on a platter. popcorn

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Dude, what did I tell U about staying focused.
How could he have been tired of Purple Rain in early 1982 early 1983, when talking to Dez about a 3 year contract?

He had music recorded he did not have 4 albums worth of music that was done in 1984 1985 1986 recorded yet. It happened in the moment.
He might have had a couple piano demos that turned into She's Always In My Hair etc but not most of the other stuff.

If he was discussing a 3 year deal in 82 that would have taken that band to 85 you know right around the time when he said he was tired of the whole PR (that band) stituation don't you take as a clue that their time was limited.

We have no way of knowing how much music was recorded as we are finding out about new material all the time that know one has heard of.

I remember back when 1999 was out their was a rumor in all the black mags that there was another album that was suppose to come out after 1999 called "Underground"

You need to stop acting like you have spend time in the vault or know what was going on in Prince's mind at least I go by what actually came out of his own mouth without trying to insert my thoughts.

You are just as bad W+L with this nonsense

I think that Prince likely knew that he'd make a change after 3 years to keep things fresh.

It makes total sense the more you think about it.

If things were successful, then he'd change things up to avoid stagnating.

If things weren't, he could end it early.

I said late 82/83 when he was talking to Dez about contract renewal

Purple Rain hadn't even happened yet. So how could he have been tired of it.

It doesn't matter when the music started being recorded. The whole 'tired of it and ready to move on was by late 84. Purple Rain the movie was just about to start filming in early 83..

Dude, you should really stop. Get on proper time.

I think that is more of a reflective thought though. In the moment going 100mph in 1982/83 excited for the high of the 1999 'triple threat' tour. I think when he talked to Dez about that he wasn't thinking so drastically. Even if directions changed or their was a band increase etc
I look back and think the Dream Factory / Flesh years would have been the Revolution members with Sheila E Eddie M Family members etc a bigger musical unit. With all those wonderful sounds coming out.

So who took the pictures of Duff and Bruno Mars and his group at PP? A-Listers get a free pass - that's a given. B, C, D and No-Listers? They don't get the VIP treatment. IMO there are people who are on "a list" that the family (the heirs) will tolerate but that is about it. There is also probably a "don't want anything to do with them" list, too. If we think there have been a lot of lawyers the past 16 months, wait until the vault is organized and ownership of each song is tentatively determined. I think a lot of these people are going to want a piece of the action, unless they signed off on any rights years ago.

I think someone said it was in the picture taking area for the guests who buy the VIP tickets. PP takes their picture and you can buy it, or have it downloaded to a flashdrive.

Co-sign. There may be a move to push certian people out now because people are going to try and make copyright claims. ( Look at Ian Boxhill) Althought treating people like dirt never motivated anyone to not sue.

Hi, I've been around since the 2nd album. I was speaking to his relationship(s) situation at the time. Not musically or friendships. Prince was talented at making women feel unique/special. I'm sure Wendy reporting back to Susannah was prohibitive to his game. Not the main reason for breaking up the band, but probably a nice benefit.

--Could be because Devin Devasquez said she went out to a couple of PR shows to meet Prince and that she saw Wendy and Lisa and wanted to be introduced but he refused to introduce her and she never met the band at all. She had Wally to escort her to Prince's hotel suite and she hung out with him.

I said Pr/Band stiuation he had already started working on the idea for the movie while on the 1999 tour. So he only had contacts for the duration of the project. Read what Militant wrote as he is correct. I think you cannot accept the fact that Revolution was just hired hands for a few projects.

Re-read your own posts and quotes.

.

.

1. Jill & A6 were Banned. CORRECT.

THEY WERE BANNED BY PP PERSONNEL named by Jill (don;t remember their names)

.

.

2. The Revoultion asked to have Jill "kept away or separate from them". CORRECT. Per Jill's quote you referenced.

.

.

3. #1 and #2 ARE SEPARATE CONCEPTS!!!!!!

.

.

what do you not understand??? .

Her banning from PP was by different parties from the Revolution who did Not "BAN" her but asked to have "kept separate."

.

.

BONUS POINT: If in fact the Revolution had "BANNED" Jill, there would be no reason for them to ask to keep her "separate" since she wouldn't be in the building.

.

In fact, #2 suggests the Revolution didn't even know about #1 (i.e. that Jill was banned).

.

Hopefully this is simple enough for you to comprehend.

.

.

I won't get into the Melvoin thing. You have nothing to do with the Melvoins or Prince so anything you say is pure speculation.

.

.

And you keep accusing Lisa & the Rev of "trying to get $$$ of the estate". This is potentially libelous. They aren't doing any such thing. They are performing as a band which is their right to do and they pay the proper performance roylaties.

.

.

Lisa is giving her OPINION On certain songs. So what if she's incorrect? All she really said is they were "thinking about the Melvoins' asses" when they recorded that version?

.

.That doesn't PRECLUDE the fact that P wrote it about Vanity.

.

See.....2 things can be true at the same time!!!!! Get it???.

.

Also, even if she were outright lying about the song, it doesnt' gain her any more $$$$.

Who do you think asked for them to be banned? Do you think Graceland people even know who Jill Jones is? She did not take a picture so why would she be banned from the celebration events ( her words not mine)? Who from Graceland would care about her being there?

You are getting caught up in semantics . Separate and banning in this case are really the same thing. (The Revolution did not want her around them and the PP people had her banned from the premises thus insuring she would be around no one. How are these two things different? The in result is “ We do not want you here and we have fixed it so you will not be participating in events at Paisley Park. In other words you are not being allowed in the building and we are all working together to make it happen since a meeting was actually called to discuss it. Oh and we are too stupid to even communicate exactly why. It is very juvenile and silly.

See below again.

Drama. I was informed the next day that I could not attend any events at Paisley. Me, Apollonia,Susan & Brenda. Do I care? No. Does it make me angry that I was also told that Hucky called a meeting prior to all of this informing our security that the Revolution wanted to make sure that I was kept separated from them during this event at Paisley?”

Hopefully this is simple enough for you to comprehend that this is the way I see the situation. You do not have to like it or agree with it.

I won't get into the Melvoin thing. You have nothing to do with the Melvoins or Prince so anything you say is pure speculation.

I am free to speculate all I like but I actually use the things people have said out of their own pie holes so not to much speculating is going on.

.

.

And you keep accusing Lisa & the Rev of "trying to get $$$ of the estate". This is potentially libelous. They aren't doing any such thing. They are performing as a band which is their right to do and they pay the proper performance royalties.

I am not talking about them performing as a band. It is obvious that they are angling to work on re-masters and trust me they will not be doing it for free.

.

.

Lisa is giving her OPINION On certain songs. So what if she's incorrect? All she really said is they were "thinking about the Melvoins' asses" when they recorded that version?

.Maybe she was thinking about the “Melvoins” but according to Jill she was wrong and it was just a way to put herself into the mix. If something is not true it is not true and there is nothing wrong with people who were around at the time pointing it out.

.That doesn't PRECLUDE the fact that P wrote it about Vanity.

Apparently it does for the Lisa because that is not what she said in the media.

.

See.....2 things can be true at the same time!!!!! Get it???.

No, things are either true or false.

I am done with this conversation. I have right to my opinion on the situation as you have a right to yours.

I am not talking about them performing as a band. It is obvious that they are angling to work on re-masters and trust me they will not be doing it for free.

.Maybe she was thinking about the “Melvoins” but according to Jill she was wrong and it was just a way to put herself into the mix.

Yes I'm done as well because you just proved your limits in cognition.

.

.

you just showed you don't understand the concept of things "NOT BEING MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE".

.

.

i.e. 1) Prince DID write WA about Vanity

and

2) Lisa said they were referring to Susannah and Wendy WHEN they SANG IT

.

.

Since you don't understand that both these things can be true at the same time and neither negates the other, you clearly cannot have rational arguments.

.

Good evening.

Good evening.

That is not what she is saying from the Star Tribune.

http://www.startribune.com/revolution-keyboardist-shares-untold-stories-from-prince-s-soon-to-be-reissued-purple-rain/428738003/

1) Who knew they were famous for their flat asses? WTF

2) Was Prince writing about his own butt ( because if you listen to the song that is not the case)

3) She is saying the song is about Susannah. Jill is saying the song was written before Susan came along for Vanitiy. She saw Prince give the song to Vanity.

4) I honestly think Lisa does not have the foggiest idea who the song was about and is really just a goof ball.

I think the song was about Vanity and he just asked Lisa to sing on it and this is no different than " The Beautiful Ones" What she is saying is simpley not true.

“Wonderful Ass”

“Wendy and her twin sister, Susannah, are pretty famous for having nice butts. And Prince did have one of the world’s cutest butts. Prince was dating Susannah, and I was with Wendy. It was us being goofy about our girlfriends. I sang co-lead with Prince. It was a happy-go-lucky time.”

Apples wasn't in the movie because she was something special. P needed someone to take Vanity's place ASAP. It wasn't because she was a great actress, or had a great singing voice, because she was neither of those. She was just in the right place at the right time, and P was in a pinch.

Vashtix said: Surely you are entitled to your opinion. I don't find Appolonia attractive because I prefer natural aging as opposed to plastic and I am sorry to say she is old and patched up. Desperately trying. I have nothing against Brenda and Susan. Jill could use some love. Appolonia has made poor decisions when she decided to gang up against Mayte. She lost my respect for her ever since. [Edited 8/14/17 16:25pm]

That does not mean she is patched up and not part of an important time in the Purple History.

Apples was in the movie; Apples is singing Take Me With You Apples is the one in Appolonia 6 in the movie.

I may not be a fan but that is just as true as all M1 was in the 90s . I do not have to be a fan but their contributions cannot be denied.

.

They all deserve to validated for their part over the years and that includes Apples. Especially because she was in the iconic movie. It was Apples as the beautiful love interest.

Being in the right place at the right time can make people significant. Just ask Kim
