how great is that voice, listened to the whole thing 3 times now and she really has something unique in that voice. Whether this CD sells 10 copies or millions she , P & the NPG should be very proud of this album.

I'm not a technical wizard, but I bought a few of the songs from Amazon, and then I chose to "download" instead of listening in the Amazon cloud, or whatever it is, and it automatically transferred it to my Itunes account. That being said, I didn't download the whole album, just People Pleaser, Yellow Gold, Nothing More and Story of You and I. The others sounded kind of cheesy to me. Agree with others though, this is the best protege album in who knows how long. Not amazing, but acceptable and will be played again. Can't really make too many more observations now since I'm in the middle of making dinner.

Is it only available as an mp3 download or is there a physical cd?? I can't find it on amazon Peace in the House of Prince.

Looks like just a mp3 release at the moment.

I'm not buying an mp3-only release. Surely they can release it on some kind of physical format. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Just finished listening to this on spotify and I've been pleasantly surprised by it. Some very good tracks here. Much better than Bria Valente's 'Elixir' in my opinion.
I think I'll buy this one.

i'm listening, love what i hear. her voice is soft but nuanced. very jazzy. def gonna buy this. wish it were on CD hardcopy somewhere

First of all having to buy the album in mp3 format was annoying. She uploads a picture of her album on her fb and then releases an electronic version without announcing when the actual CD is going to be released? Wth. I guess it's their way of making fans buy two copies of her album. Anyway I quite like the album. I can definitely see why it's compared to Janelle Monae's music. But maybe the anticipation was too high, the wait was too long, I don't know, I can't say I love this album. To me the biggest highlights of the album are Long Gone, Nothing More and When Stars Collide. And I think I actually prefer live versions of some songs like Yellow Gold and If I Was A King from HOB. But how funny is that all three songs Prince co-wrote sound a lot more interesting than RnR Affair. Though I wouldn't call this an alternative hip hop-soul, or whatever she said her album was going to be in an interview. Imo, it's just a "funky-pop" album. Like so many others already have pointed out, it's not her voice, it's her singing. It doesn't have a consistency of hip hop and no I don't find her singing soulful at all.

I'm really enjoying this album. Prince did a good job with the production and Andy did a good job with the singing.
In 'If I Was King' I could hear various flavors from some other songs, in this track. Like that 70s track 'Funky Town' by Lipps Inc., some of Tom Browne's 'Funkin for Jamaica', some Graham Central Station Funk, and love the last 4 minutes that sounds like a New Orleans vibe, and some parts with the horns reminds me of Prince's track 'Pfunk'. Actually this song has the type of vibe, singer Alice Smith would sing.
'Yellow Gold' and 'When Stars Collide' - Both songs has the vibe of her song 'Hooked' from Andy's first album.
"Nothing More" does have a 'The Love We Make' Prince vibe, but Andy seems to carry her own sound in it. Kind of like how she does in her songs 'Conclusions' and 'Sometimes' from her first album;also feel the same vibe when she sings 'The Calm' and 'Long Gone', both which are beautiful ballads.
Story of You and I - Has a Prince 'For You' flavor.
Andy's singing style sort of reminds me of singer Billy Miles<--one of my favorite artists. Both have a distinctive singing style.
'Superconductor' - definitely a Prince vibe all over it, but I feel a Janelle Monae vibe in it too.
'People Pleaser - Love the bass/horns and funk of this track, and I could actually see Erykah Badu and Jill Scott singing this song.
All in all, really like ...no actually I really love this 'Superconductor' album. Good job. What I also like, is how you get to capture the sounds of the instruments in the songs;the instruments stand out, and doesn't sound over-produced or cluttered.

i'll give it a c+ i don't like every song, for instance the song "superconductor" sounds way too much like it was meant to be a prince song. she just sounds silly singing it to me. but i do like some of the other songs, and i think she gave it a really good try. it must not be easy trying to do what prince wants. be kind, be a friend, not a bully.

As I have this album on repeat, it sounds more and more like the sister to P's Musicology album. It is a bit better than Bria's Elixir and Tamar's Milk and Honey. It has definitely grown on me. Check me out and add me on:

I listened to all the clips on Amazon and they do nothing for me. Sounds really safe. Training wheels safe. I really like People Pleaser, it's "nice" and all, but I can't see myself purchasing it. But glad so many people here enjoy this album.

Am I the only one who hears plenty of JOTY in When Stars Collide, this definetly is Nelson penned. I now want a real CD so I can see who wrote what. Still a damn good album, buy it, it won't hurt that much. Jeux Sans Frontiers

I seriously think my heart is gonna burst with excitement & happiness! Andy & Prince- thank u so, so much for this absolutely fabulous, magical, musical storybook! I am somewhere in orbit listening 2 it on constant repeat! Oh, & I actually managed to do the whole itunes/ iphone thing on my own! haha U got 2 understand me & technology dont go, I really do belong in a Thomas Hardy novel.
First listen of Superconductor took me straight back to the 70's & Glam Rock. That quirky sing/speak part - 'We don't wanna talk about the ones who say we're living in a dream' immediately made me think of Blockbuster by Sweet! Loved that as a child. Also, with the harmonies I get that 'feel good' vibe of ABBA. In saying that, it also sounds very current yet incredibly 1980's Prince. The kinda music that as a child growing up the 80s, would fill me with such a feeling of hope & wonderment 4 the future, that anything was possible & I could do anything. It's mad, but this song makes me have that feeling as an adult, as if I heard this years ago & it's almost like a memory from the past. Most importantly, it makes me wanna dance & I love it! Was wondering about the scary deep voice as I can't make out the words, but is it meant 2 b the 'banished ones' willing this album to doom?! haha
Such beautiful guitar playing on Long Gone, ah it's so sweet! Getting a real chilled Norah Jones feel from this one. I really enjoyed the natural & almost vunerable aspect of Andy's voice in this one. She sounds young in it & to me it feels very honest. Tear jerker for sure. Speaking of tear jerkers, from the moment The Calm begins, the lump in my throat starts to build. This is such a very beautiful song & I canny handle this one for some reason! Then 'Hold me, kiss me'... & these tears just flow...guess it just must b my foolish heart
Yellow Gold is my song 4 sure! I'm taking this along 2 the next soul night & getting the dj 2 play it! That soul crowd will LOVE it! This one is a mega, mega tune!! Has a sound like Drizabone & it's soo good! Nothing More- wow, how romantic is this?! I love the lyrics & the emotion in the song. All those little magical Princely sounds take me away & leave me wandering about some enchanted garden or something! The guitars on this r just amazing. The solo with the electric guitar kills me and then the harp like sound at the end, is this the 100 year old guitar? Yes, this one is perfection indeed. Has that feeling of moving thru space & time... indescribable.
If I was King is so up-beat & happy! That great rhythm is making me bounce & smile. Then those INSANE horns bring out this King's whole majestic kingdom 4 a street parade?! Man, I wanna be there at that party! ha ha. I adore the accoustic guitar on Story of You & I, it's so clean sounding. ' Story of u & I, has been hiding, hiding behind the moon'- this is the kinda thing that melts my heart. This song is about deep, deep love. With this & some others on SUPERCONDUCTOR, I keep getting a strange feeling that the story is about being happily in love, which I'm sure Andy & Prince r with each other, so why do I pick up such a feeling of melancholy & longing within some of the music? Or is it just me?
Also, what I don't understand is why everyone was saying Andy was moving away from that 'coffee house' neo-soul sound of her first album. Story of You & I, Long Gone, The Calm all confirm that she still has the same style, but has grown & developed that sound & taken it further. Doesn't mean she is turning her back on her original style, in my opinion she's is only getting better & better at it. And finally, When Stars Collide is simply delicious, Yum! Now this track is the stuff that dreams are made of! It's almost like a prayer. Now let me close my eyes & drift away on these waves of starlight & love...

that really is a great way to decribe it as it does have that live , organic feel. The difference is that Musicology still had a lot of cheese on there!.

It's a very nice album. Prince's best work in years, both in terms of songwriting (I'm pretty sure he wrote all the songs, despite claims to the contrary) and production. 7/10. "How embarrasing to be human!"
