According to amazon.com the audio-cd and the special edition audio-cd will be released on december 3th...

don't know exactly what's so special about this special edition... (it's called "superconductor usb" but is in fact an audio CD with the black/gold cover"

Pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this album, particuarly some of the lyrics but overall production was enjoyable.

Or if it is then he might have given more freedom for the engineer(s) to shape up the overall sound.

hmm, i find it hard to believe that prince only wrote "superconductor" "long gone" and "the calm"

on this album.

not that i think she can't write a song, she already wrote her debut album, but the lyrics to these

songs are kind of a tell in some places.

for instance "if i were king" is directed to a female love interest. coupled with the title, that has to

be a prince penned tune.

unless she's gay. that could explain it.

but i don't think so. instead of this being 1/3 prince, i think it's more 3/4 prince and the rest andy

with prince contributing musical ideas to whatever songs she wrote.

the album sounds good. it sounds mellow. it doesn't sound contrived.

this production reminds me a lot of very early prince "for you" coupled with later prince, a bit of

"musicology" perhaps and then laced with some 80s sounding melodies that are nothing like the

song prince produced in the 80s but more like the smooth soul, sade kind of sound.

if this is the direction prince is taking with his own new album, i'm pleasantly surprised because

these songs, although they have many princely elements, don't sound like the kind of songs he

has been producing for the last 6 years or so.

there's a shift in style and execution and it's one that sounds healthy and mature to me.

don't really see why so many people hate on andy's voice, it's quirky and pleasant enough. it's

not bothering me at all.

only song on this album that i (still) don't like is "people pleaser", it's rhythm just irks me.

I couldnt have said it better. The first 5 songs are start to finish amazing...Andy does them well but Prince would have killed them. I love the organic sound...it's a cross between For You and Musicology. I am glad that they threw away the computers.

Speaking of the 'For You' album, The track 'Long Gone' is like the closure to his track 'So Blue' from the 'For You' album

2- People Pleaser - 4 stars 1/2 stars

3- Long Gone - 4 stars

4- The Calm - 3 stars

5- Yellow Gold - 4 stars

6- Nothing More - 3 stars

7- If I Was King - 3 stars

8- Story Of You & I - Anybody else grossed out by hearing about her and Prince's sex life? 2 stars

9- When Stars Collide - 4 1/2 stars

In all I give the album about a 4 stars (out of 5). Not perfect, but decent songs. Great production. I would have taken out Story of U and I and replaced it with her cover of Oui Can Luv, then it would have been an even better album.

back in 2010 she was in minneapolis and she was refred to as His Girl Friend.

I was walking back to the Institute and when i got there, there were photographers everywhere taking pictures of this girl. She was in a limo that had some issues. The car was parked in our parking lot. while she was waiting for the other limo to arrive, the photog's were snapping away when the car came she got out of one and got into the other. She seems excited and surprised by all the photographers. She had a great big smile and I said to her, Hey you have great hair. She looked at me smiling and said thanks. Closed the door and off she went. Afterwards i asked the Photographers who that was and they said. That's Prince's new girl friend. I didn't know her name. I was more in awe that i had just seen ..... The magic of Paisley Park. I posted on the forums but everyone said i was ..... bla bla bla. The thread was removed. i just put it away in my head. When i she was first "announced" i was hey wait.... that's that girl with the hair.. and that was in 20Ten.

anyways... she was around alot long then your guys believe.

the album is the perfect example of ANDROGYNINE.

I never saw a thread on this artist on this site, prior to the one I posted back in August 2010, when I saw her perform on the Africa Channel, around that time period. When I posted about her in the non-prince music forum, there were no other replies on that thread. Anyway, about all that other personal stuff you mentioned about them, well that's not something I get into around here, but here's the thread I'm talking about, long before it was announced she had joined Prince's band.

Plus she did say in one of her recent interviews, she met him through some folks at the Africa Channel after she did that performance on their channel.

Wait. You're saying it's unlikely that Prince wrote/recorded 4 songs in 2 months? Are we talking about the same guy?

I agree with IstenSzek above - it's the lyrics that give it away. Most of the album is about an older JW wanting to get it on with a young, pretty girl.

I don't doubt for a second that Andy is much more talented than Bria, Mayte or (Heaven forbid) Carmen Electra. And Prince is definitely giving her much more room to maneuver than he gave others. But it's still him.
