Sounds good. It's the best thing Prince has been involved in for ages. Some of it reminds me a bit of FDeluxe funnily enough! I think I will have to buy this album...

There is a recording online of the listening party from a few weeks back and, even though the quality of the recording is not great, I think it sounds very promising... I'll deffinitely buy it and I hope there is a physical release too

Good to finally hear the samples.

There are some good ones and some so-so samples here...

Is it me or does Nothing More sound an awfully familar to another Prince song....???

So far I'm liking most of the samples. I can tell which tracks will be some of my favorites, but until I buy the music, I can give a better judgement. "Superconductor" and "Yellow Gold" definitely has the sound of a Prince track so far, from the snippets I listened to. Also liking the snippets to "Long Gone", "The Calm", "Yellow Gold" and "Nothing More". In "Long Gone" Andy's voice reminds me of another singer, but I can't place the name right now.

It also doesn't seem like she lost her pre-NPG sound/style, which is a good thing, because she expresses much of her original sound in some of the ballaes, which displays her creative skills as an individual artist, even though she's currently learning new and various, music styles working with Prince and the NPG band. Just my two cents.

I agree with both of you, The "Nothing More" snippet does sound like "The Love We Make". Oh and just to mention, the instrumentation at the beginning of her track, "Yellow Gold" reminds me of a part in Prince's song, "If I Was Your Girlfriend". I think "Nothing More" will turn out to be one of my favorite tracks on that album. Has a tinge of that bluesy sound in it.

'long gone' sounds great. Really enjoyed these samples - i thought that there were 10 trax?..anyways i'm there and will buy it. I know there's been a lot of bull around the project especially around the Chicago nonsense but the product sounds good.

Just a point of note..why push people pleaser so hard on the TV spots?, she is clearly in her natural zone doing the husky guitar ballad thing....simple marketing says mix up the songs a bit and perhaps just let the girl grab her guitar and play a slower number.

Likewise where's the video?-it should have been everywhere on social media by now, likewise the single should have had some kick ass remixes!

Ah, what do I know?!.

nah, FDeluxe are in a league of their own this year. They really did take the MPLS sound in 2012 and totally kicked P's ass all over the park. They are a MF'in' power house.

I plan on buying it and I like what I hear from the snippets, Mr. Nelson does not dominate the whole album as most were expecting, it will be digital on my end as a physical copy would just get put away eventually. She doesn't sound as if she's trying too hard to be FUNK artist, she is just updating her coffee house style with more instruments.

Listening to it...loving it so far! She's definitely not trying too hard on the album..she just needs to make her public persona seem more natural. You can definitely hear his influence on most of the songs I will say...very telling lyrics too hmmm...

Yeah, great so far and as I said in my first post, Mr. Nelson is present but he's not driving the car. It has MPLS style all over it, I'll glady say here that if people don't like it , fine it's their right not to but the burden will be on them to find a stronger album out within this genre, don't waste your time here bashing it just to get attention. A solid four stars out of five.

Yea this is the best protege album that he's released in a long time. Way better than Elixer IMO and definitely appealing to the 18-25 age bracket (of which I'm in) as well as older demographics.

Okay, so while I definitely agree that this is Prince's best protegee effort in many years, I can't say that I love this. I think the main thing that bothers me is that her voice really doesn't match up well with half of the songs on the album, which are likely the songs Prince produced. I think it would have been better to produce tracks that really showcase her strengths rather than highlight her weaknesses.

Here's what I love about this album:
1. People Pleaser (as we all have acknowledged, the horns are insane; I can excuse Andy's voice because the music is so solid)

2. Long Gone (this song is exactly the kind of music Andy should be singing)

3. Yellow Gold (this is the funkiest thing I've heard from Prince in years--definitely a welcome throwback to If I Was Your Girlfriend)

4. The Love We Make Nothing More (great revamp of a great Prince song; also I think Andy's voice goes well with this particular track)

5. Story of You & I (this song is simply beautiful)

Here's what I dislike about this album:

1. Superconductor (the best part of this song is the 16-second snippet that was posted on her website over the summer)

2. The Calm (coming after the great Long Gone, it just sounds like mediocre elevator music)

3. Yellow Gold (for the same reason I love this track--Prince should be singing this; Andy's voice doesn't do the song justice)

4. If I Was King (another big production song that just swallows Andy's voice; Also there is something quite cheesy about this song that I just can't put my finger on, Andy's vocal efforts at 4:09 are especially annoying)

5. When Stars Collide (yes it has some funky elements, but something is off on this one for me; it's run-of-the-mill funk; very skippable)

Overall, I would give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars. The strong songs are really strong, but the weak ones are really weak. It's worth the $7.99 download though.

Waah!! bawl Why is it still not on Itunes so I could've downloaded it hours ago onto my Iphone, instead I got 2 wait until my technical wizard comes home from his work 2 get the amazon.com version then he can transfer it! It sucks being so bad at technology!!!

lurking Have sneakily been listening to the soundcloud version of the listening party ALL day long!!! biggrin But it's obviously not the same quality. I will b sharing this amazing feeling I have inside later when I can hear it clearer! All I can say is that I am in love with SUPERCONDUCTOR already & I haven't properly heard it. Well done Andy handling the hecklers at that House of Blues with such wit, diplomacy & class! U go girl cuz this album melts my heart & U r gonna b a HUGE star!! Ur record is making me wanna dance & Par-Tay!! party Oooh, & make slow, sweet love! wink ha ha!

So far loving what I am hearing. Didn't get to hear all the tracks yet but
I can hear a tidbit of some Janelle Monae flavor in Superconductor.
Really liking the tracks I've listened to so far.

After 2 listens I think it's ok. The title track and When Stars Collide where the stand outs. nothing more reminds me of Colonised mind.

the two acoustic strums were really boring, long gone was the better of the two, story of you and I was the low point, very dull, you never know it might grow on me.

Very early score 6/10.
