The Original 7 tour?

I keep reading interviews where various members say they are doing a summer festival tour. Still no dates and its pretty much summer. I take it this fell through? I knew they couldnt keep it together but does anyone know for sure if its a no go or are they going to tour? I wish the imitation Time would do some new songs in their show.

I was just listening to Condensate today after not hearing it for awhile and man did it sound great. What fun and funky tunes. Perfect for the summer. Would be cool if the Original 7 would take these out on the road. More people need to hear this album.

Yes it is a GREAT album and to me the best cd I have heard in years!! I don't really have a problem if the Original 7 does not tour BUT I do wish Morris would promote it with his shows. I don't understand why he won't. I think it should be heard by more and playing it live could sell a few more cds. The whole purple clan has always been fucked up in the way they promote(or lack of) their releases. What a shame!! I do hope they release another cd though in the future whether they tour or not. We need more!!

Trendin' was supposed to be played at NBA games. I don't know if it was or not.

They actually said late summer/fall for tour... maybe. They never said it like it was definitely going to happen in that time-frame, only that they were considering it. Since those comment, their focus seems to have shifted toward new albums. They were in talks with Prince about collaborating in some way on some of his vault material for a future Prince project. Prince, they said, was receptive to the idea, so that's intriguing. Don't forget, as a band, they have their own *vault* material too and Morris seemed to indicate some confidence in that material coming out on a new O7/O6 project. Either way, my guess, based on publicly available information ( biggrin ) is that they are going to put out a new album and then tour behind that. But if that happens, I would think we are at least 3-9 months away from the project coming out. Nobody expected Jesse to suddenly leave the group and when that happened, I think it kind of took the air out of their sails a bit. As much as some of us want them to simply slap anybody in on guitar and play the new tracks, they don't seem to want to have a revolving door on guitar, and want to regroup with some certainty this time. On the plus side they seem really committed to doing it again and apparently they are in the studio to bring us something new.

You're doing better PR for the band than they're doing for themselves. That's the best write up I've read in a while. lol

I think there are 2 factors here:

1)If Jam & Lewis would ACTUALLY COMMIT 2 doing a tour!!!!!- Everybody knows they don't NEED the money!!!! But some of their cohorts do!!!! Jesse was tired of playing the "Hurry Up & Wait" game, so He made the BOLDEST move since P FIRED Jam & Lewis (playing w/D'Angelo & playing the White House w/Blues Greats is DEFINITELY Resume' material)!!!!! Monte & Jellybean r playing in "Part-Time" along w/Morris, so the only Person unaccounted 4 is Jerome (who no longer is part of "Part-Time").

2)If Morris had put "Part-Time" 2 rest!!!!! But MAYBE He knew a long time ago what MIGHT happen, so he was just covering His bases. Part-Time is scheduled 2 play a Casino here in August......

What I'd like 2 C happen??? I remember when Donnie Simpson went 2 MPLS on Video Soul & Jimmy Jam had been promising a FULL-ON Time Reunion. THAT was 1988!!!!!! It's TIME!!!! Hey.....a play on words!!!!!!!

cool cool cool cool cool cool cool

I always thought Jam & Lewis were the holdup, but Jimmy is the one who is always talking to the press about the group's plans. None of the others have said anything about it. Jam & Lewis are presently producing a group of teenaged brothers, and I guess they can't do that and perform. Terry is supposed to be the manager of the 07, so it's his job to get work.

I'm not sure of what you're talking about. I didn't say anybody had to do anything or that he should listen to me. In interviews the group said that Terry is the manager and takes care of day to day decisions and if it's something big, then the group has a meeting. They also said that Terry is the main person who has been trying to get the group back together. You sure are hostile and negative for no reason, I've said nothing to you. No one is forcing you to read anything, you volunteer to do so.

I just wanted people to know that it doesn't sound like a tour is the next thing we will get from them. Though they did seem to lobby hard for a slot on Prince's Austrailian tour. As longtime Prince fans, we all knew Prince would never do it, but the fact that they even asked for the job says that there is a desire in the group to get back out there. What would the lineup have been, had Prince said yes? What would the setlist be? They clearly had something planned. I wish it couls have happened, just because it would force the band to come up with something good.

I find it mindboggling that these guys would create a great album and it

seems Jam and Lewis didn't have as much of a desire to hit the road as

they make money in their sleep while the other members have to eat.

It seems like these guys could have found a way to tour get out at least

3 times a month.

They should still get the original 7 together and do some shows, you don't have to tour, do some shows, make a couple videos

team up with Sheila E or the Family and do some shows to promo and present the music live

I agree, they really could have made this work if they wanted to.Klymaxx has reunited (with original members Bernadette Cooper,Lorena Lungs, and Joyce Fenderella Irby) and already have a show scheduled for August 18th in Washington,D.C.

I said awhile back that the Original 7 should have teamed up with them and did a summer tour.Old School R&B fans love to attend shows like that.

Bernadette is sorta like the "female Morris Day" lol woulda been nice to see her and Morris onstage together, for a funky encore of "The Bird" or something.

Co-sign. A tour would be the icing on the cake, but a new album from time to time would already be great!
