Man, you can tell the WORKING musicians from the fans and bedroom rock stars around here. People have to get PAID. When you do music for a living, THAT IS WHAT YOU DO. When your money runs out, you have to go gig and make more unless you have money coming from somewhere else. Jimmy & Terry have BIG bank. They don't need to gig and don't have to take shitty club gigs. They live in mansions. I'm sure they feel that's beneath them. Morrisjust goes to work "part-Time" and gets his money and Jellybean and Monte are juggling projects left and right. Jesse basically said in so many words, he doesn't have the paper to put his life on hold indefinately for an O7 reunion and some of you jackasses are STILL bitching. What is he supposed to do? Go on welfare? I swear, it seems like some of y'all live in a Prince bubble, cut off from the real world. He is working. Its true, he didn't have to quit the project. I agree there. Still, he has to feed his kids and eat. I can't blame the man for surviving but apparently some of you can.

Morris Day and The Time are not making enough money to pay all 7 members. The replacement guys work for a lot less than you would probably imagine, so they can take lower paying gigs. Though I have to admit when I saw them a few weeks ago, tickets were $85.00 a piece when normally they play for about $25 a seat.

I agree, that would have changed the direction of EVERYTHING that has come after. But maybe had not thought it up yet. My question is why the need to say anything? Just take the D'Angelo gig. It was not conflicting with anything. He was courting this attention, and it did not go the way he wanted. Now he is building straw men (his family) to try and deflect. No one anywhere mentioned his family. He is trying to use his family as some kind of shield now. He made the announcement on an unmoderated public forum, people responded in kind. Don't like it? Moderate it or shut it down. Simple fix.
Working on the assumption that his version of things is true, (it does not really contradict with the O7/O6 said), It really does not change anything. He still could have avoided all of this by just going on with his life. No one would be the wiser.
What he needs to do now is call Dr. Fink to get a prescription for some "man the fuck up pills" because he has a serious case of being a little bitch.

I don't think anyone said anything about him not working. I think they are responding to the way he has handled all of his "announcements."

He didn't quit the project to feed his family. That's a REALLY lame excuse. Who would tell a man not to put food on his table? Jesse is ridiculous for even going there. He could work however he felt he needed to and IF O7 was able to tour and he was able to participate then great. If not then he could say at that point, hey guys I have to bow out. He left because he felt the wealthier members OWED him something, not to QUIT.

As a person who plays and gigs, I totally overstand where Jesse is coming from. I also wonder why Jam & Lewis haven't pulled more strings within the industry to help things really get rolling. [Edited 2/11/12 12:05pm] [Edited 2/11/12 12:06pm]

reading between the lines, i say he's been used as a scapegoat! he took a gamble & was brave enough to leave knowing he'd get it in the neck! nothing was happening with the o7 project, it all became a bit embarrassing. his frustration is clear & i'm betting the others are breathing sigh of relief that they can now use this as a convenient way of disbandment & all the while looking like the good guys i admire jj 4 making his choice to leave, he's clearly still ambitious & does not need to justify anything

It's got nothing to do with being a working musician. I saw Jellybean last month with fDeluxe and I don't see him quitting the O7. Jesse could have done the D'Angelo shows and still been in the O7 as well. I don't think people are upset at him so much for making his choice to do whatever he wants to do, but the way he went about it. |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Let's look at that statement...
Morris, Monte & Jellybean all are in 'Part Time' and making money right now. Jellybean is also in Fdeluxe and doing paying gigs. Jam & Lewis are doing whatever with whomever(if somebody knows what project they're working on that has them tied up feel free to chime in). Jerome isn't doing anything right now. Jesse wants to hit the road and play the new music and make his money(which is what all the fans wanted in the first place)
So who is holding up whom here? 3 members (Morris, Monte & Jellybean) are free to travel and do shows already. 2 more (Jesse & Jerome) are also free to do so. 1 (Jesse) expressly wanted to do so. Looks like Jam & Lewis (the wealthier members, as you put it) are the real holdouts here. Who are they working with that is so time consuming and all important that they cant fit in some dates here and there? Well, we don’t know how much pm'd messages and how many posts he has deleted already. Also not everyone is as thick skinned as others and maybe hes a bit green to all this recent attention on the internet where others maybe able to handle it doesn’t mean he can, having the attitude hes either got to ‘put up or just shut up’ is wrong, its actually an illegal offence to keep trolling individuals. I'm not say he should be treated like a baby and mollycoddled he is grown arse man but people need to jump off his dick and cut him some lack, people take it to a next levels that are way beyond ok. I saw the posts here that were constantly taking the piss out of him non stop making out like he was some drugged crazed man, all because he left a band!! When your in the public eye it can have an affect on you and your family. IMO he should walk away and just concentrate on the music and his D’Angelo shows.

If that's the case, then there's a whole lot of people out there that the police should get for what they've said about Michael Jackson. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

SoulAlive said: So it looks like things were moving too slow for Jesse. He wanted to get there and tour immediately but the Original7 were taking too long to organize a tour.Such a shame. That is what appears to be the case. Some members of the o7 may be in a better position financially to not need to hit the road immediately. And D'Angelo had a job ready now. When you got bills to pay .... I wonder if he was rumbling about the money and the others were just rolling there eyes and thinking "there he goes again... Whining" And he just bust a move and caught them off guard. [Edited 2/11/12 20:06pm] "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Being that the fellas aren't exactly strangers to Jess he should have known what he signed up for when he agreed to the reunion. Be that as it may, if a discussion with the bandmates didn't resolve the issue and he couldn't abide by the agreement he voluntarily committed himself to, then a press release from the O7 would have sufficed.
Sometimes things don't work out and I get that but in order to minimize backlash it's best to handle mishaps with some maturity and I would say the same about anyone including Prince.
Jess himself started this drama and has only himself to blame for the

I aint no expert on the subject but I think it would be up to the individuals in question to report it I don't think the MJ thing would exist under any rules because it will be about how much its directed at them on there own space, ie there own website there own page on social sites, this place is not a Michael Jacksons facebook that he created its not associated with him. Thank god its not like that otherwise the whole internet would get shut down, so I'm not sure it works like that Back to normal people and ones that are alive, I'm sure majority people don't report facebook bullies and just block them/delete there account or just walk away from all the nonsense altogether, unless it was really serious threats I suppose, FUNKNROLL! Lmao. Cry me a freaking river. I've seen some of the same folks defending Jesse do the same thing here to orgers who create a thread or a post, and go after that orger because they don't see the reason for the thread or post, but what else is new? When you post on a public site anything is expected.
Nobody on the Org rode Jesse's balls to the highest mountain, where it affected his entire life, and you can't tell people on other sites, (and I'm sure there's many comments on other sites besides this one), that they can't say what they feel about it. There is no way he didn't expect a reaction. He could have kept things private, call his 07 buddies in private, and let them know he no longer wanted to be part of the band. He made the comment on a public site, without letting his band mates know, so he had to expect a reaction. Fans have a right to express disappointment because it was the 07 that put the album out and many fans were happy to give them support, even after all these years, and were hoping to see them in concert together someday.
Thick skin is what Jesse needs to grow and not worry about negative comments others have to say about his choice. It's his life, and he makes his own decisions. Either ignore the negative comments or delete them; put the page on private and regulate the comments on there. It is what it is, he put it out there, now he just has to deal with it. Carry on.

Agreed. You can tell Jesse is new to the social networking thing. He doesn't understand that people talk shit online because they can. "Do you really know what love is?"

- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Exactly. You don't scream 'privacy!', but yet be the one posting information no one asked for on a public site. If you don't want to share that info, then don't share it. He didn't tell his friends in the band he was quitting their group, before he posted it on a public site, so what did he expect when he posted that info out-of-the-blue, even shocking his own band members, let alone the fans? Okay, now folks get it. It didn't work out, he still has to feed his family, found a paid gig, and moved on.
Best thing at this point is that he shouldn't explain anything else about it, ignore the negative comments and just throw it over his shoulder, keep it moving, doing his music thing with D'Angelo while getting paid. [Edited 2/11/12 18:54pm]
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yep, he should just ignore the negative comments, and keep it moving. The internet doesn't control anyone's life decisions unless they allow it to.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yet nobody on here was able to ignore his negative comments and keep it moving hence the 5 page thread in a long line of Jesse Johnson threads of late(which all wind up going back to that day in December). We're all human(Jesse Johnson too, gasp!). He cursed everyone throwing negativity his way and y'all took offense to it(a perfectly human reaction). Afford him the same luxury you afford yourselves as human beings. Lmao. Don't you worry, no one on this site can take anything away from Jesse, regardless of their comments. Jesse will be just fine. See sometime down the road, he may need some of those same people he cussed out on his FB page, to support his solo career, during the times he's not performing with a band. You enjoy your evening.

Ouch, me.e.ow
What you trying to insinuate?
I think it was his fanpage? I was very disappointed he left, loved Condensation, but bands split, fans need to get over it Jesse owes no one nothing and he seems to have moved on since(i think, but do i really care? no lol), hes with D' Angelo now. I don't think its affecting his entire life like you keep on saying it is
Oh I agree, he could of just ignored it or delete them thats what I would of done but were not Jesse and he thinks for himself and does what he wants to do with his own facebook and likes it a certain way on how he wants it, like we all do. if fans dont like his comments on there maybe people should ignore it, instead of trying to call him out all time. Anyway I dont care I'm not on facebook. FUNKNROLL! "February 2014, wow". 'dre.

Lets get the facts st8. Even if jesse was in an inactive 07 it wont cost anything moving forward and he would get paid if they toured. he can do any side gigs to feed his family as others r already doing, morris, jerome with partime, jelleybean with fdeluxe, jam and lewis as well r doing thier stuff.
Most likely reason were: 1) he wanted a leadership roal in the band and didnt want the current setup. 2) He was hoping the album was going to do better and when it flopped he wanted out.
or for the cynics Prince paid him some money on the side to get him out. Because prince is so scared of o7

Why wasn't Jesse out there promoting his own CD? He did very little for Verbal Penetration, which I thought was brilliant.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
His CD didnt even reach the billboard top200 most likely it didnt even sell 2k in its first week and wasting money to promote an album which has a limited audience isnt going to help

Again, cry me a river, and yes you care, because you sure took the time to respond, and yes he could post whatever he wants on his own 'social' network page, because absolutely no one is stopping him from doing that, but at the same time, people on other sites, are entitled to post their comments on topics posted here and on other sites for discussion, and this thread just happens to be about Jesse's 'public FB comments'.
You said Jesse can think for himself, so why are you losing sleep over what people here are saying regarding comments Jesse made public? What anyone is saying here is not taking food off Jesse's table. If he wants to react to the comments, again that's his choice, but it's the public's choice too. No one is 'losing' here. Look at it this way, the 'attention' is benefiting Jesse, and it keeps his name out there. He's not stupid and he knows how the game is played;sometimes controversy/drama works. As long as he keeps reacting he keeps his name out there.
Look at how, what he's posting on FB already made it to 'several' sites. Genius if you ask me. Applause...applause. So I'm sure he's enjoying all the attention he's getting, despite the negative ones. As long as he keeps reacting, then he'll get a reaction, and manage to keep his name out there. After all, he did say he wanted to be a rooster, and even roosters know how and when to make noise to get attention. 'Cockadoodledoo!'
No hard feelings, we'll just have to agree to disagree. Enjoy your day. [Edited 2/12/12 8:50am]
