Jesse should take a leaf ot of Prince's book and walk away from facebook/internet and just get on with his music and not get involved with nameless people hidden behind the pc because its not gonna get any better, he will just get more upset about these strangers/trolls comments that never ever mattered in the first place.

No it is not his fault but why bother getting himself worked up over it? He is a musician performing in public, so he should expect there will be as much negative as positive comments about him when you have a public page on a social network that he set up himself. It's real simple..delete the negative comments or just ignore them, because the internet is beyond fb and he can't get angry at every negative comment he reads. It's better if he just throws it over his shoulder and keep it moving. Anonymous posters cannot control his destiny.

4 sho.

Well in the first place ya don't go handling your biz on FB if you don't want rude comments, some of which could have been prompted by the bizarre statements he posted last month that bear little resemblance to what he is now saying.

Once again, he knows these guys his entire adult life and should have known what to expect before he committed himself but he still signed on to this project of his own free will when maybe he shouldn't have.

So it didn't work out and he needed a paying gig where his input is also respected, which is all well and good but thinking before you act is even better.

I agree it's time he walked away from the fb chatter which probably was the wrong way to handle it to begin with.

Stuff like this and the Roland Martin debacle makes me glad I don't do FB. disbelief

Don't believe the HYPE. Prince is/was scared of No band: Alive or Dead.

I'm with you on that Gray. I don't believe that either. If he was so afraid of The Time, he wouldn't have let them open for him during the Musicology tour nor would he have been at the Rio show in Vegas in 2006, when the Time performed that night, and Prince got on stage with them for a few minutes to jam and stayed and watched them perform as well.

I think there's a bit of over-exaggeration regarding what some fans read ,about Prince saying something about the Time being the only band he feared, but I really don't think he meant it in the sense that he's afraid of their talent over-shadowing his. If that was the case they would have been more popular than Prince and more sort after than Prince. The latter never happened.

Yes, but Jesse hasn't reached "Prince" status yet, nor does he have the kind of funds to take the kind of action Prince can. Jesse is still 'tryin' to get paid' so he should chill until he reaches that 'rooster' level he's trying to reach. Right now he's using up his 'cock-a-doodle doos' way too early in the game, and cussing at fans that he needs to build up his fan base.

Then getting angry because some of his supporters are curious and asking questions, making assumptions, based on the bits and pieces of information Jesse posted himself, about leaving the O7. When he posted that message, he should have expected responses/questions/curiosity about it. He should at least take part of the blame for information he publically posted that drew the kind of attention, he now seems to be irritated by.

If he doesn't feel the need to explain, then don't post about it, don't respond to anymore comments about it, and just relax and let it roll over his shoulder.

Talent in itself doesn't have much to do with popularity, but luck, marketing, and good management. It also has to do with putting out a product that a majority of people will buy. If someone records bluegrass, blues, or jazz, it doesn't matter how much talent an act has, their sales are limited because they don't get Top 40 airplay.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Besides, Prince made that statement about a hundred years ago when they were all very young and inexperienced guys full of piss and vinegar. I'm sure the atmosphere back then was a lot more competitive.

Nowadays I like to think that there's room for everybody at whatever level...just handle yo biz in private and take your showin' and provin' to the stage where it belongs. They get their props and we get some shows...win/win. biggrin

Jesse really comes across as a major dick saying this. He's a coward who couldn't tell the band who gave him a solo spot at their gigs that he was leaving. What an ego. He's a very good guitarist but he can't sing to save his life and his songs are weak with a few exceptions. Trust me, he will leave D'Angelo's band at some point this year. He thinks he's on Prince's level...he needs a major reality check.

He always has been. He has been the major trouble with this band for a long time. Jesse is and has always been selfish. I hope the O7 replaces him permanently and continues to record. I would hate to see them disband all because of him.

First of all that is not the same The Time group that was per4ming @ those shows. I'm talking about the ORIGINAL 7VEN.. Those guys

The fact that 2 out of the original members were present and part of that group performing at those shows, singing songs Prince wrote, then that shows there was no bitterness or threat regarding the 'frontman' and 'sidekick' of the group (Morris and Jerome), whose names are familiar with many 'Time' fans. Secondly, what he said about all the original members back then does not prove he's afraid of any of their talents. It came across more of an acknowledgement of their talents, and him giving them props for it. That doesn't prove they're a threat to his own talent. He apparently already knows what they are capable of. If Prince wanted to be mean about it, he could have stopped Morris or any of them from singing his songs period, but he didn't.

The fact that after all these years the original members got together, without any Prince involvement, and changed the groups' name, but one member couldn't see 'eye to eye' with them, shows the problem is within the group, and has nothing to do with Prince. I doubt keeping the original name would have kept the group together if Jesse was already having issues seeing 'eye to eye' with some of his band mates in the first place. So now the original 7 minus one is basically hanging in limbo, until they decide if they're still going to make music together as a group, without Jesse or hire someone to take his place and do a tour. At this point, since the album is about 2 months old, who knows if they're going to bother to tour at all or continue to stay together, by replacing Jesse.

MF's really, OMG, shouldn't comment on matters where you are on the way outside looking in. For 20+ years none of you M#%%^%F##%^s care if I played in the Time or not, but now you are acting like it's a religion. Just be happy for me when and where ever I find happiness and that happiness doesn't hurt anyone. I believe in personal and private details in life/business matters should stay just that.

And if, you only knew a small portion of the truth, you would would feel so very a shame of your your negative "Outside comments". Always pay attention to who's not making comments as apposed to who's flapping gums on the negative level of energy!!!! So to all nay sayers, Respectfully Fuck off and worry about getting your own house in order, because that's the only house I have a responsiblity or power to direct keep the peace.

Because believe me, the truth is so ugly and vile you wouldn't be able to handle it!!!! As I've stated before, this site "JESSEJOHNSONFAN"is for people that dig what I do or find what I do some what interesting.

BTW D'Angelo is more than just a job, he's blood, a best friend, an incredibley caring human being with a huge heart full of compassion, and a FUCKING INCREDIBLE TALENT! For the record we have had disagreements for years and years, but there is a very strong mutual unspoken respect between us. Let's just say brothers helping brothers! If you can get to that!!!
PeaceLove,
Jesse Johnson

You ever have a kid that tells you a lie, and then, when he sees it's not holding up to scrutiny, reimagine the lie in an attempt to cover his behind? JJ's post reminds me of that type of situation.

Nowhere in these comments, or in any of his other comments, do I see anything respecting the feelings of the fanbase. Instead he tries to elicit sympathy for himself with the "y'all don't care about me" card. All I see in his post is MANIPULATION. If there was some incredible reason for quitting, he would have simply said it. The truth can be a real simple thing for those who aren't lying. What, in all honesty, in today's social media communication, qualifies as so "ugly and vile" that we couldn't handle it? I doubt there is anything he could divulge that would even come close to that description. In fact, I think, when he wrote it, he was kind of wishing there was a reason like that he could hide behind.

It's also funny how when The Time does things for him, he classifies that as "brothers helping brothers". They knew dude needed a hand and they helped him. They gave him a platform and they put him back out there. When reporters asked what he has been up to over the last 2 decades, they helped cover for him. Now when he has to hold up for a minute and show some brotherhood and faith in return, he shows his azz publicly and takes down everything they were building and financially invested in. How much money do you suppose came directly out of Jesse's pocket to cover production and promotion of the Condensate album? My personal guess is zero. Yet he flippantly goes onto Facebook and blows up the entire thing over some BS. This cat is reminding me an awful lot of El DeBarge.

P.S.
I was on a conference call with the O-7 and I asked the following questions in early December; " Do we have any shows for December? answered "No" I continued to ask the the same question regarding January and Febuary, and I received the same answer, which was a resounding "NO" I then asked when was the the first royalty accounting coming up? And the answer was, " I don't know" and with Allah as my witness, I respectfully made the announcement that I could no longer AFFORD to participate in an organization that personally cost me thousands of dollars (Gear, Clothing, Travel, etc...) and further more shows no signs of taking premptive measures (Sponsers, Touring, etc...) in helping to see a return on our investment. So help me god, the people on whatever sites that state they were not informed of exit should feel very, very ashamed of them selves to seek sympathy from unknowing fans. Am I angry, I feel sad for people that have to lie to seek unwarranted sympathy. Sad! Do ever post or ask me at anytime or place about this subject.

As I stated in an earlier post the whole truth is to rife with ugliness that would affect he lives of "Purely innocent children of people I thought loved and cared about me"

I'm glad he wrote this paragraph. He didn't mean to, but he CONFIRMED that there wasn't any hostility from the other guys on that conference call, as some fans have speculated. And he CONFIRMS that he didn't tell them he quit. He said he could not AFFORD TO CONTINUE, which sounds to me something like he was throwing hints for money. And when he didn't get it, he went on Facebook and announced that he "didn't think he would play with O7 anymore" (my streetsmarts tell me his post was another indirect plea for money). And when JAM didn't show up at his door with buckets of cash, and fans reacted harshly to what he said, his ego couldn't take it so he got stubborn and became backed into a corner. Fortunately for Jesse, D'Angelo is paying him, which better last, because as mad as O7 already was, his veiled threat to leak info (what groupie tales?) that would harm the lives of their children is bound to make them even MADDER. What a guy.

You seem to have glossed over the fact that the other guys also didn't seem to have any intention on promoting this project any further. So what was the true purpose of the CD and the reunion?

Stop the presses! What does that have to do with putting shit/insinuations on front street? He airs out the rest of The Time by alluding to foul play etc because not every fan was supportive of his recent actions/behaviors? There appear to be some deep seeded feelings and he is not handling them well at all. Yeah he is a great guitarist blah blah blah but the way he goes about certain things is way fucked up. And that 'funk lone wolf god' rep doesn't account for that kind of bs.

Not true at all. They were trying to set up the right deal. It makes no sense to set up a tour that won't make money. The best offers coming in were apparently in Europe and they were planning, probably still planning, to tour there this year. Condensate was always going to be a bit of a learning process for the group. New name, new label, new roles for some of the guys within the group, etc, etc. There was going to be some trial and error. The bond of brotherhood was supposed to keep them together while they figured it all out. But as it turned out, one brother was TOO HOOD to understand that, and backstabbed the rest of the crew.

Jesse is also uber defensive because he knows the way he handled the situation was wrong.

Jess ♥

What a guy.

You know what? Now that I've read that P.S. part, I think that's exactly what Jesse should have stated from the beginning and there would have been no speculation/assumptions on the fans' part. I believe the original post on his FB was too jaded, which of course led to speculation, but if there were no shows/tours/expected royalties coming in, and Jesse depended on that to put food on his table, then I can understand why he chose to go another route where he knew he was getting paid. I do believe in two sides to a story and the remaining 07 members took way, too long to reach out to their fans with an explanation.

If there was no money coming in right away, and Jesse couldn't wait, the only part I don't get is didn't he know this when he signed on? Shouldn't this have been discussed before the release of the album and signing of documents? Seems there were loopholes and lack of communication from the beginning. Maybe the other guys weren't as anxious as Jesse was for money right away, and were able to be more patient, because the others may have had definite gigs or other plans/obligations of their own, and maybe Jesse didn't. He does have a family to support so at the end of the day, he had to go where he knew he was getting paid and there were no doubts about it.

I think before all this mess gets uglier, the remaining 07 ought to just find themselves a new guitar player and continue to try and promote the album, since Jesse's exit, before it's forgotten by fans, and gets put on the shelf collecting dust. Jesse is already doing his thing, so it makes no sense for the rest of the 07 members to sit around wondering what to do. They've all been in this business long enough to know how to keep things moving, if the remaining members still want to work together.

Maybe the remaining members ought to get together with Joe Kelly for an interview to explain the situation, and discuss what they plan to do about in the near future--either stay together and make new music, without Jesse or just end the idea of them getting together at all. This way at least their fans would know what's going on and what to expect/not expect from them as the current 07..minus one

I've been saying for awhile now that they should just find a new guitarist and keep things moving.Jesse is a great guitarist, but I don't think he's irreplaceable. The band could survive without him,if they chose to.

Morris hasn't had a single problem lining up paying gigs for 'Part-Time' which was supposed to have run out it's obligations this month yet more dates are being announced for spring and summer. how hard would it have been to line up those gigs for the O7 if you already had the connections to do so and the extra weight of the reunion/original members to make it sweeter. true it's the rest of them don't seem to care. In Morris last interview he said "they'd get around to it". When exactly? How long is anyone supposed to wait for 6 other people to be on the same page? As we speak Morris, Monte & Jellybean are still getting paid thru gigs and Jam & Lewis are supposedly producing somewhere(whom I don't know). So where does that leave Jesse and Jerome at?

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Do you think Terry, Jimmy, and Jellybean are going to play at a shopping mall? There is a HUGE difference between a $5,000 gig and a sponsored tour.
