The band was playing on top of the track. Something like this is MUCH better than just sampling the song for 15-30 seconds and then moving on. Still wish he wouldn't "sample" period and just play the shit!

well obviously i noticed prince play bass but didn't see or hear the rest of the band. i thought it was just him and the sampler set . i'll have to watch again

I don't particularly like when he goes to triggering looped samples, but having Andy hold the play key down while he noodled on the other syntesizer and then slapped that bass was cool as hell!

Hot? Let's see: a loop over which Prince manages to "freestyle" crappy effects, then some pointless "look at me I'm playing DA BASS" wankery, and then it's back to the usual "funky music" bullcrap. This is what passes for quality nowadays? Betcha you lot were also hyped about that crappy vegas-ified "Alphabet St." from a while back.

It's 2011. Use a proper browser plus some useful plugins.

This live version is very very hot and special.

Finally Prince didn´t kill this song with a 15 second sampler.

And the bass solo, ohhh lawd, so funky! I love it!

I wish Prince has something like this for us in Zurich
