I don't know where u get ur idoitic info from. But a lot people experienced this tour that never experienced Prince live b4. Prince got a whole lot of new fans out of this tour, including my best friend that was able 2 c Prince multiple times 4 only $25 4 the first time. That is why his greatest hits packages are still selling and @ the top of the charts lately. U troll.

I love how Prince fans are so polite these days..... real class.

So you really think this tour is going to be up there with 'Lovesexy, Sign of the Times, Purple Rain tours? I dont think so. My 'idiotic info' is just a reality ... a greatest hits tour AGAIN is not going to go down in the history books, it wont even make this years best tours I bet.

It has nothing to do with your best friend who has never seen prince before.

If U going by grosses of course it won't gross as much as the other tours. Because he is just doing residencies in each state. Not going from city 2 city. Plus what is to U if its not his greatest tour? Is the money going in2 ur bank account? The tour is not even over yet. It could be a two or three year tour 4 all U know. U R so negative..

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

I hear you, Johnny, and I agree. This "tour" is basically the band performing songs, one after the other. No rhyme or reason, with no real flow. No choreographed pieces. Just him and the band doing standard playbacks of his songs. The only real extra thought put into a new arrangement was Little Red Corvette, but that was done two years ago. Everything else is by the numbers and an added Prince karaoke set.

The only reason people are going to be remembering this tour is because the number of shows he's doing at a time in one particular area is allowing more people time to come and see him. And people are going to wax poetic more on a show they personally attended. These shows will NEVER come close to being as good as the shows you mentioned and even others. Kcool is just basing his shit on a survey of one...his best friend. lol

I'm basing it on myself and then the media and the critics. The same ones who lavished praises upon and oohed and aahed his tours all throughout his career.

Not even theatrics, really. Just an actual performance. Not him just standing there playing an instrument, TALKING about how funky he is. Plus, even if you stripped away all of the "theatrics" from those earlier tours, the music STILL had much more energy, vibrance, life, and funk than the bland stuff he and his Vegas band is spewing out these days.

For crying out loud, that's the same bullcrap people have been saying for the past 10 years.

, so if you want to tell me half of how to do it, just don't say anything instead of laughing at the fact that I have something else to do in my life than know everything about uploading/downloading files

"know everything"? Are you serious?

If everybody was doing the same as you just did to me, nobody would know anything..

No, that's what would happen if everyone acted like you. Other people have figured out how to use a search engine.

Exactly. Just like the last tour was so great. And the previous one. And the previous one. And then six months later they hear a soundboard of a 25 year old show and they suddenly remember that concerts used to involve ACTUAL SONGS PLAYED PROPERLY instead of loops and chants and jams and it's the hottest topic for weeks.

Yeah, that's why people go apeshit when a new soundboard from an 1980s gig gets liberated, because they can hear the theatrics. Oh wait, no, it's because he had a kick-ass band back then that played kick-ass versions of kick-ass songs and there was hunger and attitude and energy. And you can listen to it again and again and discover new amazing bits.

20+ years ago I was doing a summer job which involved me sweeping a large terrace most mornings. Each day I put on my walkman and there was one tape I played: the radio broadcast of the Lovesexy gig in Dortmund in 1988. And I never got tired of it, because it was so insanely good. I still play that show at least once a year, or most of the City Lights sets, and they keep kicking ass. Same for plenty of the 1994/95 shows.

I've listened to this version of "Hot Thing" twice, and I got bored during the second go, because I'd already heard everything there was to hear. It was bland and predictable. And it featured Andy Allo, easily one of the least talented people ever allowed on stage during a Prince gig. She DRAWS during concerts? Oh how exciting. Because when I was watching a video of a Prince gig, I couldn't help but think "you know what would improve this? Some chick drawing stupid shit".

I know you lot say that we should be glad she's in his entourage because she's causing all these videos to be posted. Yeah, let's excuse the dirty old man hitting on this young girl, let's pretend she isn't offensively untalented, let's ignore the utter hypocrisy of Prince raging against cover versions only to hire someone who's made a career out of posting crap-ass cover versions on her website, because we're getting decent quality videos of far from great live performances.

U make valid points. Not taking away from Prince's current bands talent. But maybe it takes a lot to keep & get those same band members he had during "LoveSexy" & other musical tours. It cost a lot to pay some & keep some band members. Maybe that is why Sheila stop playing 4 him. Maybe he is just not paying enough money to keep them. Maybe its best to train new members to play his past mega hits. Nurture there talent. Yes I admit Prince's past band members were more versatile. But I still put Morris Hayes & John B & Ida(bass playing is awesome) as kick ass band members. U don't really know the politics, that goes on behind the scenes to keep & put band members together. Prince is a fierce leader & knows his instruments. I'm sure he would play every instrument on stage if he could..

It's insane the length you lot go to, just to make up excuses.

How about you look up who played in his bands in the 1980s. Most of them were complete unknowns. Sure, Sheila had already some kind of career, but it's not like she was some hot shot superstar.

Maybe he is just not paying enough money to keep them. Maybe its best to train new members to play his past mega hits. Nurture there talent. And nothing you say addresses the actual problem: 20 years ago Prince's bands played actual songs. These days all they play are loops and chants and jams. That's got less to do with them, and far more to do with the little dude at the front of the stage.

U and me we both dimes

Said we were

We ought not waste this time

Lyrics by PRINCE (NPG Records)

You know I dont think Bart is this vicious bitter person you all would like him to be .... he's a great souce of the actual 'facts' in Prince's career history, and this place needs him sometimes when some fans get hold of stories and start fabricating and twisting the facts.

Prince is still worth checking out live, I dont think anyone is denying that, but probably less than 3% of his audience has any interest in his new music, and the truth is I dont even think he has much interest in his new music judging by the 80s setlists... and coming from a self proclaimed 'musical genius' 'Never B Another Like Me' 'does not want to talk about the past' 'I write so much new music' ...kind of guy, its a bit of a joke !!

Where is all this creativity he talks about? all these great songs we're not ready to hear? The fact is Prince has either fired or fallen out with anyone in his camp that had an ounce of genuine musicality, creativity or balls to challenge him, and before you call me a 'troll' the reality is all of those classic songs you're singing along to at these gigs came from an era when he was surrounded by huge musical and studio talent. That does not mean John Blackwell is not a great drummer, but it takes more than a drummer to produce or inspire a great song, you need people that 'understand' songwriting, and understand how to produce and make a song really special. Larry Graham, Maceo Parker, Shelby (is that her name?) are not (and never have been) classic songwriters or known for their songwriting skills. They're all a dead weight that bring nothing inspiring to the table (10+ years of x2 songs written by Sly Stone, Pass the Peas and someone that yells a lot).

Without Bart on this site giving the 'fams' the occasional reality check this place would be as dull as dishwater ...full of 24-7 'Prince can do no wrong ass-kissers'.

U right! I guess vicious & bitter are strong words 2 say. It just bothers me, he can be very accurate in his info. But it seems he uses his info in a negative way against Prince. But I guess he has a right to his opinion just like I do.

I disagree with the 3% only care about Prince new music. Prince's new music still sells pretty well, for an artist 53 & being in the business over 30 years. His albums still go gold when promoted well.

His 80's setlist are 4 the casual fans. Which he has to cater to now. If he wants to make a descent living. Most of the so called fans on this site only think of themselves. They don't think from an artist and from his perspective. Live shows are his bread & butter now. Not sales. If he wants to continue selling concert tickets, he has to play his 80's hits now. the more obscure songs can be saved for his rare aftershows. Which he still does sometimes, 4 the diehard fans like me.

Most of his band members couldn't even keep up with him live 4 very long periods. Sheila E her lungs eventually collapsed at one time, from touring with Prince non-stop 4 years..Prince plays so many different types of music he needs a variety of different musicians to play it like he likes it played.

This is what I mean by U people being to critical. What other artist has worked non-stop 4 over 30 years? Changing band members has rejuvenated him. . Any of those old band members would come back in a heartbeat if Prince asked them to. He fired JJ & TL way in 83. They still want to use his name "The Time" & perform songs Prince wrote. Give him a break!

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

I have an idea ... instead of 'catering to the casual fans' (as you say he HAS to do now), why not put together an album that is actually worth touring behind... It's really not something unheard of you know. You jump to the conclusion that all some fans want to hear is a live set full of rare tracks ... you're totally wrong, I'd like to hear an decent album toured... and to do that he needs to write something worth touring. I thought he was 'the most creative man in music'? ....so in theory doing that should not be that hard.

He spends way too much time talking about the music industry and his creativity ... but rarely does he deliver the goods that back up his statements. There's a lot of 'Hits for the last time' tours and half baked albums given away in news papers, its a lot of hot air. I'm all for him touring the 25 year old hits over and over again and making heaps of cash ... but dont pretend you're this creative force that should be reckoned with, it's embarrassing now in 2011.

So going back to the original post ... the 'Hot Thing' live is another prime example of something half baked, I'd like to hear him nail the song live... not just play the drum loop from a sample and then sing one verse ... thats his style for every song for the last 10 years, then it goes into a 'funk jam'.... uuurrghh again?

I dont know if Bart uses his info in a negative way (maybe he can answer that), people just get upset with him when he calls them out on their kooky fabricated facts .... sometimes the truth hurts I guess.

nod Exactly!!!!!!1

Prince has some major masterpieces tucked away in his vault.(Remember the sessions with drummer Chris Coleman) He is just waiting 2 come up with a new way of distribution. To get his product heard. Its a waste to release something and no one hears it correctly. Be patient.

At this point I dont even care. I've enjoyed his recent work except for the last one with the exception of LayDown. I'm good, all i care about are live shows and i know if he releases anymore there are always a few gems that I enjoy.

Who says those are masterpieces????! It's probably basic fodder like the rest of his recent shit.

I'm here because I like a lot of Prince's music.... mostly old though.

Chris Coleman played on 'Cause and Effect' right? I think that session would be best kept in the vault if thats an indication of the quality.

See to me you are really sounding like someone who's been brainwashed when you say he has 'major masterpieces tucked away but he is just waiting for a new way to distribute, its a waste if people dont hear it correctly'.

In 1987 I might have bought into that rumor, but come on ...be serious.
