I"m also (seeing her page for the first time) seeing a lot of stuff that celebrates Prince's work and publicity. So who knows what's going on. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Speaking for myself, I'm definitely NOT condemning her. Whatever went on between her and Prince years ago clearly still affects her, and I feel for her in that regard.
I just think that stuff like this, personal issues between two people I mean, shouldn't be tossed out for public consumption via places like FB or wherever, but with today's technology it makes it all too easy to give in to emotion and write something you shouldn't, or will later regret. If Jill is still resentful of Prince for any reason, maybe she should try somehow to deal directly with him about it? If he's not willing or receptive to that, then maybe she should find a way to deal with her emotions that doesn't involve posting Facebook updates like the one today she obviously thought better of and took down.

Well, see I'm all for uncensored public communication. If it's libel, then Prince would have to act to deny, but I'm all for the right and drive to publically express any idea or news or opinion. You just have to prepared for consequences if it's hearsay or false. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

I was going to ask the same thing- whether or not Prince's name was used. My first reaction to the OP was that the Shrine Auditorium has over 6300 seats- there were probably a lot of men who hit someone.
But then it was clarified that she used his name at first... "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

Really? So you think people should be able to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theatre (for example)?
Just because you can doesn't mean you should. And hurling accusations (without substantiation or the opportunity for refutation) is a "shouldn't," in my book. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I was just clicking around and found: http://prince.org/msg/5/339004 over in Associated Artists... "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

Yes, I think they should be allowed to yell it, and if it was false, they shold be punished. But the repression of the freedom to shout what you want is a bigger more problematic thing than the chance of someone creating a false panic.
Prince has as much opportunity to refute as she does to accuse. And yes I think that you should shout out on facebook if you are right. If she's wrong it would come out in the aftermath, but if she's right, there is nothing wrong with it. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Sinead OConner was hit by Prince and this was well documented.

Okay, well...the Supreme Court disagrees with you. It's called common sense - look it up sometime. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

There is absolutely nothiing in any law book that says you can't shout "fire" during a movie. It's afterwards, if it is proven to be false that you can be punished. What if there was a fire? My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Has anybody ever backed Sinead up on this actually happening? No?
O'connor, especially at that time was seemingly mentally disturbed and prone to nutty behaviour. Why would Prince invite her to Paisley to whup her in the car park? in public? makes no sense to me at all.
I don't believe it.
or Jill.

First, wherever she say, she don't have to say it publicly.
Second, everybody made mistakes, who's there to judge?
Third, there's two versions of every story.
Fourth, if she really was abuse, she need to go to the police not to Facebook.
Class matters.

You mean well documented as Sinead running to tell all to the press not the cops? right.
I was there when the first mention of Sinead "incident" appear in Rolling Stone magazine, it was a vague small note with Sinead picture, on the Random Notes section. A few months after that, Arsenio Hall ask her in a very polite way about the "incident" on national tv, she got really aggressive and say something like this: "I don't care a fuck what the press say, this is not the time and the place to talk about it" Arsenio answer: "oops!" (covering his mouth).
In my opinion her intentions was to get publicity but she got a bizarre backlash instead, even if the "incident" was true, her reaction was so unexpected coming from a self promoted strong independent woman. She knew she fucked up.
I love her voice and most of her albums, sad that she can't handle fame.

And Prince is classy? Come on, that's two people that have publically stated that Prince hit them. You can't defend the little prick on this one...and "everybody made mistakes"? Pathetic.

They should had gone to proper authorities if they suffered violence. I know Jill had to sacrifice a lot just to get Prince to get her album done and even was involve with him despite the fact he was a womanizer.
I just separate the man from music. If I would stop listening an artist based on abuse and some other foolish mistakes they made then my music collection would be thin.
Everyone have their own faults. I dont condone abused whatsoever and I am still eyeing at Chris and also now Prince but whatever the sins they face and did they had to answer to their makers.

I agree re separate the person from their music. James Brown was notorious for being brutal to women (such as severely beating one of his backing singers Martha High in an elevator) but I still listen to his music all the time. I'm just surprised as Sinead is crazy and I honestly thought that she was talking crap re Prince hitting her...but now I'm starting to believe what she said. It's just disgusting behaviour for a man to carry out.

I don't get why some of you are so quick to believe Jill.
Maybe it's true but maybe it's not. All because she hinted that he beat her doesn't automatically make it true.

Poor Chris Brown, everyone needs to lay off know. The honorable thing would've been for Prince to speak up and stop being so pious. Chris got caught, he never did.

Her comment is very shocking. I just can't imagine WHEN her implication occurred. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

There was some drama in the early 90s when Jill was trying to get out of her Paisley Park recording contract. Her planned second album was never finished/released (because of artistic differences with Prince),but she was forbidden to record for a new label for 7 years,if I'm not mistaken. She spent much of the 90s singing backup for the disco band Chic.Jill seems really bitter about all this.
