Here's the thing: if Prince hit Jill, she should have done something about it then. Not wait until 25 years after the fact, when all she can do is cast aspersions.

My guess is that she soft-pedaled the whole thing because she was expecting him to release an album for her. She sold her dignity for 30 pieces of silver - and accuses him now?

Co-Sign. I have only said this same thing for years. Maybe dude treated her like crap but she hung around to get a record deal. eek Do not sell yourself out and then be angry about 25 years later.

Sinead OConner was hit by Prince and this was well documented.

Does anyone remember O'Connor taking back this story. If he did this he was being an asshole but you cannot say something like that in the press and then take the story back.

Baldy says that he threatend her not actually hit her. Who knows, she probaby spit in Princes face and called him a long haired faggot. I woulda slapped the bitch too.(Not really)

If this incident really happened,Prince picked the wrong person to mess with lol Sinead wasted no time in going to the media to tell her side of it.Prince probably assumed that she was passive and would keep quiet about it,but she's not like most of his female proteges and girlfriends, lol. She's bold.

This is my problem with both of these women. Physical abuse is a CRIME. If Prince comitted this crime, why did they use Rolling Stone, FB and other assorted media rather than the POLICE?

I just don't get it. The reluctant, scared, brainwashed victim theory doesn't fit because they verbalized what happened. However, rather than verbalize to the police, they use media?

I don't get it, and it hurts their credibitility with me. None of us were there, so we will never know. However, it is suspect in the larger scheme of things.

Regarding Sinead, there was (allegedly) just the threat of violence and i'm sure she had no problem sharing the anectode with RS. With Jill, i'm pretty sure any physical altercation between she & P (if ANY) occurred in the 80's/90's and domestic violence was still in the closet (well, moreso than it is today).

• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Yes, I agree. But, with that being said, look at R. Kelly's sex tape scandel for example. They went to the police and the world saw the outcome of that. (I saw the tape (ugh) and I'm sorry R, but...)

Unfortunately, with issues such as Sinead's and Jill's, unless the jury is truly non-bias, it, more than likely, would have ending in Prince's favor.

Jill knew Prince was (or still is) a womanizer. Was she upset that Prince gave more attention to Susannah and Sheila E? Likely so since they became more established musicians under his wing than Jill despite the fact in my opinion she is more talented and better singer than those two together, and not to mention even when she was his on and off girlfriend, he was still seeing other women. But I still think since she signed a shitty contract and was unable to work for another label for seven years and her treatment durin Graffiti Bridge and a former Paisley Park artist is the reason why she is pissed at him to this day.

But that my speculation.

Let me preface this by saying that I am in NO WAY defending R. Kelly or any man or woman who abuses another physically.

However, in the R. Kelly case, that victim chose to not come forward - for whatever reason. Therefore, if in 25 years when R. Kelly receives a lifetime achievement award from BET, my reaction to her would be the same as to Jill if she posted something similar on FB about Kelly. We all have to accept the consequences of our actions. Jill, unlike the girl in the Kelly case, was a grown woman who chose to hand over a large part (about a decade or so ) of her life to a man who was never going to start her. She was always going to be coming off the bench. How many years did it take for her to figure that out? Now she's bitter about the choices she made in her life - the choice to exchange self-respect and/or mental/physical safety to be with Prince and hopefully become a "star." And she's still crying about it on a social networking site? How old is she? Go to therapy, write a book, pray, do whatever and move on. Life is too short to be bitter and holding grudges. I just don't have any sympathy for her. The way her life turned out is no one's fault but her own.

I don't get what the purpose is of posting something inflammatory like that, but then turning around and changing it. If it's true, then why be afraid of the consequences of your statement? Why put something out there for just a few minutes (or how ever long it was...)? She got some attention from Prince fans...woohoo! It just seems very passive-aggressive to me...take a stab then run and hide, which makes you look like a stupid old liar in my book.

or she doesn't have the money to hire the type of lawyers that Prince can. It's sometimes not about who is guilty or a victim, it's often about who can hire the better lawyer.

Could be that, or maybe she's just human and, for whatever reasons that day at that moment, she was emotional and revved up about the issue/s that still exists (for her, at least) between herself and Prince, and she had a lapse in judgement and posted that first status update..then later she realized that was a bad idea and re-posted. shrug People do stuff like that all the time, which is why 'delete comment' and edit functions exist.

Very valid points..but the most valid is what you said about life being too short to be bitter or hold a grudge. I've always maintained that holding grudges only hold YOU back, not the person that you are upset with...who either don't know or don't care that they have hurt you.

In Jill's case..yes, she may be bitter. And that is her right to be bitter, only she has to live with it. As for her posts...well, as you said "We all have to accept the consequences of our actions." Obviously, Prince doesn't care what she says about him or he would "shut her up" like the others.

Heres a new one, we dont know! and none of us no matter how much we love his work have that perspective. I only wish if it did occur she could have done something to make sure he was accountable for the behavior. BET does have a sickening history of rallying around brotha's clearly guilty of anti-social/criminal behavior. R Kelly anyone?. They spin everything into a matter of race or redemption when sometimes a cat needs to pay a price. I wasnt moved by Chris Brown, my daughter is 22 and i remember those pictures and frankly there would not be a safe corner on this earth for the punk.

Yes, we all saw the pics, but we only seen Rhianna's injuries. These two have had an emotionally-charged relationship from its beginning. The same sources later revealed that Rhianna wasn't the only one that got her ass kicked that night. It was decided that Chris would take the blame for the incident in order to not have any charges pressed against Rhianna. As you may know, the rules have changed when it comes to who get arrested. People arrest both parties now. And Rhianna had every intention of staying in the relationship until the public rallied behind her and her "celebrity" grew.

Now, I am a black woman who was an abusive relationship and know how easy it is to "feed" on the attention that you get once its out. Because when I stayed at a local domestic-violence shelter, there were several women there that did just as Rhianna has done. In the public, it's "look what he's done to me, how could he do this" but, in private, it's secret phone calls and plans to be by his side.

I don't condone domestic violence, obviously, but be honest about what's going on. Everyone, including me, were very angry about Chris/Rhianna. No one on Earth was on Chris's side, and that include BET. And, unlike Chris, people did back R Kelly, Clarence Thomas, O.J., Michael, and Sean Combs. And how many of the above mentioned were obviously guilty?

It's not a black thing or a white thing...it's a green thing.

Going back to Chris, I forgive him. What he did was incredibly stupid and he has paid for what he did, unlike R Kelly and some of the others. Especially, being that Rhianna has moved on to next torrid relationship.

She can go somewhere and keep her anger to herself. She made her bed when she continued to hang around with a womanizer who did nothing to hide his behavior. If he assaulted her she was a moron for not contacting the police because in the end he really did nothing for her career therefore, she sold herself out for nothing.

As far as interest in her stories, well she took that mess off her Face book page so how seriously can you take her.

Let's take the police out of this discussion, because we all know that the law doesn't always work in the favor of the abused. Especially, when the abuser is a "celebrity."

Abusers are manipulative (I'm sorry, I love you, it will never happen again, I'll changed, Please, don't leave, we can work this out, etc.). That is based on known traits of an abuser, not Prince. Nobody knows what really happened besides those who were or weren't involved.

The abused will believe whatever the abuser says (out of love, fear, hope, denial, shame, etc) And again, this is based on known traits of a victim, not Jill.

If she was physical abused by Prince, I doubt she stayed with him because of a "promised" record deal. (Unless, she admitted to staying becuz of a record deal and if that is the case...no comment) neutral

I, however, don't suggest "she can go somewhere and keep her anger to herself, " because that's not healthy. Keeping it to herself is why she had that outburst on Facebook. Whereas, had she joined a support group or sought some other form of therapy then she could have made peace with the situation.

Please, don't ever turn a person away who is obviously in pain.

Here' s my first question to you: Are you truly that apathetic or is it because of who she is accusing?

Also, let me state this. Based on things that Mayte said about her relationship with Prince, I'd say that he does have control issues.

Control tends to led to other forms of abuse (emotional, mental, physical, and sexual), once the controller sense defiance.

She took it as him being over-protective.

Here's my final question: Is it that hard to believe that Prince could have hit Jill or any woman for that matter?

After reading all the posts, while JJ may have called Prince and abuser, she never stated it was her he abused (even before she cleaned up the statement) from what has been posted here.

Can I believe that maybe he hit her....anything is believable, he is no angel or above human frailties.

To still hold a grudge 25 years later after the fact.......is frightening, for her. That means she has not allowed herself to heal or move on in 25 years.

Not to say get over it, but she needs to make peace and move past it.

Holding on to the grudge is not good for her.

I am apathetic toward woman that are weak. I do not care if the person is rich or famous if someone attacks you file a police report so you have written documentation. It also just might make scare the asshole so that he or she stops hitting people.

I had a cousin who was attacked and she went right to the police and that fool left her alone.

Based on things that Mayte said about her relationship with Prince, I'd say that he does have control issues?

I took from Mayte's comments that he has emotional issues and therefore can be mentally and emotionally abusive. The running around with a dozen different woman at one time tells you everything you need to know.

Is it that hard to believe that Prince could have hit Jill or any woman for that matter?

No it is not more than one person has discussed his temper. However, I could also see a good sized woman knocking the crap out of him.

No it is not more than one person has discussed his temper. However, I could also see a good sized woman knocking the crap out of him.

Let me start with this...even the strongest woman will occasionally have a weak moment. Thank God, you were never exposed to any "weak" women. confused Nobody's that strong.

1. Well, I consider your cousin and myself lucky. Nicole Simpson had written documentation, too.

Sometimes, the punk doesn't stop...

2. Him running around with all of those women just categorizes him a ho.

When he told her what to wear, that she couldn't go to the hospital to confirm her pregnancy, and when/what she could eat during pregnancy...that's control.

3. We all have tempers, but that doesn't justify putting hands on anyone.

And as far as self-defense goes, any size woman can knock the shyt out of any size man.

It's called the cast-iron skillet to his head. lol \

Seriously, I use to think like you until I experienced it for myself...and, for the record, nothing about me classifies me as "weak."

You are absolutely correct she didn't say that it was her that he "possibly" abused and grudges do only hurt the holder.

If anyone can post her FB page, I have been looking for it but I only have a fan page.

Sorry if it is a bother. I have tried looking on my own.

Are you truly that apathetic or is it because of who she is accusing?

Maria, I am sorry to hear that you experienced violence. No woman deserves that. And you are right. the telling Mayte what to wear, what to eat, where to go, when to call... all control issues. And I can really really see how a person with control issues could escalate to physical violence.

One victim is compliant due to fear... the other victim has "mouth or attitude" which escalates the abuse.

Hasn't Jill posted other comments on FB or Myspace that were clearly about Prince and were, um....less than complimentary? Seems like she's got a few residual resentments that sometimes get the best of her and then she goes on these sites and lets loose.

Jill would be even more of a nobody had she not known Prince. If she said that, it is because she is so irrelevant that she has to glom onto the increased media exposure that is around Prince right now. If she wants to insinuate that Prince has beaten women, she needs to come striaght like a real woman - better yet, she should have come out when it happened. The reason she didnt is because it didnt happen. If she was a victim, she could have come away with a bundle and publicized the cause of abuse prevention. Be she decides to sit on all these years and then - like a coward - throw some sideways comments out there with nothing but an intentions of malice and hate.

It's a little bit disturbing that some people on here are quick to condemn her, I mean if she and Prince fought and he hit her, then she's perfectly in the right to bring it up whenever the fuck she wants... forever until she passes.

She knows Mr. Nelson much better than any of you, unless you are also former employees lurking (which has happened many times on here).

Lot's of people have an angry side that gets the better of them. Especially in their youth.

But some women lie about such things - believe it or not. If she was concerned about bringing Prince to justice or being a champion for abuse, she should have said something when it happened - there would be evidence to confirm her story. The only thing that can be accomplished by bringing it up now is to hurt Prince's image - so intelligent people will think that is all there is to it. SHe actually is doing herself a disservice. She just sounds like a bitter hoochie with limited talent and some looks that Prince banged and left.

Does anyone remember O'Connor taking back this story. If he did this he was being an asshole but you cannot say something like that in the press and then take the story back.

O Connor deserved to have her ass kicked back then. That hate crap she did back then was uncalled for and most uncool.

that's hateful!! mad

ok, we all get it, you don't believe that Prince could be an abuser. and any woman who would come out saying otherwise is a "bitter hoochie w/ limited talent and some looks that he banged and left." you do realize he has banged a lot of "limited talent and some looks" females, including both of his ex-wives. if mayte and mani said this about him 25 years from now, would you be so quick to say this about them? and with the exception of sheila, who were any of the women before sleeping with him.

i know that there are some people here with intelligence who had asked if she was even talking about him and if she was...was she talking about him and her?

and there are others here with intelligence who aren't closed-minded to the idea that he could.

i'm not saying that you are ignorant, i don't know you, but right now you represent the reason why some women don't come forward.

at the end of the day, isn't this between the victim and the abuser....whoever they are.
