UFO, if this comment is directed at me, you're entitled to your opinion. It doesn't mean you're correct.

Who in their right sense would think of calling CNN while there are gunmen shooting at you and others? They were not only shooting at everyone but persuing them as well. What if they had heard her speaking? I've heard the call. Manuela was not whispering. A call to CNN a ploy for fame? Not at all. She already did that when she went after Prince.

It's common practice, called eye witness news reporting. Besides, she didn't call while shots were being fired at her while she was running for her life, she called when she was in a safe area. Can we just try to stay in reality here, people?

Agreed.

i don't know about anyone else, but i would have been on the phone. i would have been calling friends and family, at the very least. i will not speculate on why manuela called cnn because i cannot know what she was thinking.

i don't understand the nastiness directed towards her, period. she has done nothing to anyone here and NO ONE, none of you, know the facts behind her marriage to prince.

for all we know, prince's marriage to mayte was over when he met her. maybe they became friends during his marriage and she was there for him during a painful period in his life. i don't know. my own life would shrink under this type of spotlight so i am in no position to judge anyone.

even if the rumors are true, funny how this woman is hated but we celebrate angelina jolie. is it because prince is someone people here want? is it just people like to gossip about other people's lives?

i'm 40 years old and i just think this type of shit is childish.

That's exactly it and I wouldn't doubt it if those that express their hate the loudest are just upset that they didn't get to do all that she did. How many star struck lunatics here would move from their home to "work" with Prince? Probably all of them. How many would turn him down because he was involved with someone else?

Oh ya, none.

Well, almost none anyway.

I said the same thing...

I agree it is obvious what hidden goals she had while "married" to Prince. She obviously was using him to advance herself publicly and financially. She has the nerve to say she was in the "spotlight" implying she became "famous." I think she should realize she became "infamous."

As much as she was trying to pose in pictures with Prince every chance she had and all the magazines ads for her Altru product with her in the pictures when she could have just used a picture of the product is very telling and she is obviously not "camera shy." "Altru" - please - I think she needs to rebrand the product name to be "All Lies" for the sake of accuracy.

Can anyone say Golddigga, Hussler, Opportunist - just a few words that come to mind when reading this interview which is another sad attempt at trying to draw attention to herself. It is sickening how she would play with someone's life for her selfish reasons but yet is pretending to be concerned about other people with her "charity" work.

By the way can the Moderators on Prince.org remove the thread link about this sickening excuse for a human being from the front page of the site!!!

Just KeepinItReal

Actually, there is some truth here. I had heard from a very reliable source that she was constantly opportunistic.

how does one weigh or measure opportunism in a person? we're all opportunistic to some degree, aren't we? it's one thing to call someone a liar and to say "so-and-so lied about this, this, this, this AND this." okay, that's measurable. but opportunism? ambition? i'd even venture to say it's hard to measure selfishness, because to some extent we're all selfish.

A girl should be able 2 go 4 her own, and not be negatively labeled 4 doing so, but it was like interrupting recording sessions unnecessarily, trying 2 get other people recording time, etc.

I actually liked Mani, from what little I knew, until I heard stuff like this. I mean, the source is the type of person that would never bad-mouth ANYONE like that... very professional.

U do know that Prince's last website wasn't just shut down 4 any old reason, right? He had 2 shut it down because of the divorce.

I too am puzzled (well not really) at the hate being directed at her.

As far as I'm concerned (from a fan's perspective), some of the best things happened in Princedom while he was married to her...

We got three celebrations at Paisley Park--something that she was very involved in planning/executing; we got a real online music club that offered downloads and exclusive access (soundcheck, aftershows, and presales), we got a more fanfriendly Prince willing to walk around/stand around fans (at the Celebrations), take questions from members of the audience (at soundchecks), and some great music: The Rainbow Children, One Nite Alone, CNOTE, Xpectations, NEWS, Musicology.

In looking back, the "Manuela" Prince years were some of the best years to be a fan.

Upon her departure, we got a shutdown of NPGMC, internet darkness, cease and desist letters flying left and right, a take down of all Prince imagery & sound, a failed protege project (Tamar's "Milk & Honey" which is a very strong R&B record), and a shift to very high end / upscale parties/concerts for millionaire birthdays, and the Hollywood set.

Hmmmm.

How Do U know it was Mani that gave him those ideas. Prince is a very capable man I'm sure he gets tired of folks giving credit to his loves for things other than songs. Trust me Mani was just the face but not the inspiration behind those ideas. Prince is a very smart man if he kept certain things going she would've had more false right to his money. Why do you think he moved tore down the house and is renting. It is so that there wasn't a paper trail. Just like he changed his name so that Warner wouldn't have any ties to his music for the years that he was still under contract with them it's the same thing with Mani. She was smart but not Prince smart he has two heads working at all times. I think people are not dumb and they can see right through her it's like people have more respect for an honest person than someone who isn't so honest. It's okay if you wanna be married to Rock Stars just don't say you don't when all you date is Rock Stars. People can smell fake a mile away and that is why I think there is so much passion behind the mani comments not hate.

Are you saying the shutdown was Mani's fault?

My feeling is that a lot of the fan-friendly stuff (including the site) involved her significantly... and when she left those enterprises did too.

Well there are a few things that Prince did that were extremely fan-friendly and much more open to the public than ever before. It is NO coincidence that at the SAME time those things were occurring, he had taken as one of his confidantes someone who was... a FAN!

I'm not trying to suggest a total causal relationship that Mani was the source of all this... I'm just saying that while she was around there were a lot of things that were more fan friendly and more accessible. She most certainly played an important role in managing the celebration events, and those were great--got better each year. And Prince himself has said that she inspired him to put certain songs on his live show set lists... songs that were fan favorites like Joy in Repetition.

Let's just say that there R several legal aspects involving property, etc, within a divorce. Shutting down NPGMC was a wise decision at that time.

So it seems, yet trust me the inspiration was not from her... I am sure Mani is good person from what I have observed, yet lets be reminded that alot of people do alot of things, yet have a deceptive heart. I have work for alot of non-profits and have found this so, which truly hurts. However there is this saying so-called angels of light:) I had no problems with Mani, truly based on I have never been around her "enough" to truly see, however based on those who were and have personal knoweledge, let's just say she is not what it seems. Truly sad for such a beautiful woman, one who was labeled an oportunist, by someone dear and close to the park...hmmm on the other hand, as our man stated, they had me fooled for awhile...and that just goes to show beauty of the flesh is carnal and only goes skin deep. I wish her well in hear endeavors with the children and Eric. I hope she never comes in contact with the woman she inpersonated to get Prince eek Show nuff be an ass whoopin in the trunk!

In refernce to the site closing & divorce, this is probably true... I thought it was cute that it was closed on July 4th. There is one thing I dearly admire about Major Nelson, his ability to say something without saying something. the whole Crystal Ball, NPG project were just testing grounds for what is to come. I think we better hold on to our wings, the mother is about to blow!

And who are these unnamed sources? Obviously not true friends of either Prince or mani to spread rumors about them.

I remember thinking it was actually very smart of her to call CNN because iirc, they had to leave their table so quickly they didn't have time to take their personal belongings (phones, blackberrys, etc.) with them. She borrowed someone's phone and didn't have time to call everyone (and maybe didn't even know some of their numbers by heart). By calling CNN she was able to get her name plastered all over CNN, thus communicating to anyone watching (friends, family, etc.) that she was alive, and relatively okay.

Indeed. I mean damn people wanna haul her in before the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity and shit. DAMN

People here generally worshiped Mayte, and have been dissing every female since.

So what's new?

I don't like it either. It seems petty and irrelevant 2 me.

But that was a nasty divorce, and I'm sick of folks blaming the NPGMC shutdown on a mysterious whim of Prince's.

That being said... I don't judge nor condemn her. It's the nature of a divorce, that's all.

I don't care either way for Mani or Mayte, other than I think they are both beautiful because I do not know them. None of us do.

Nasty divorce? Says who? And no, I don't care about some source that ain't Prince or one of his ex-wives.

Exactly. Everyone involved handled their business without making it public knowledge, and they all seem to be moving on just fine.
