Wendy & Lisa Fav song is Dance 4 me

I was on Twitter yesterday and saw that Wendy & Lise favorite song is "Dance 4 me" & MPLsound is there favorite of the set. They also don't like Prince using auto-tune. They said its not him. I told them Prince has always used some effects on his voice. They repled "Yes & No".
eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

i'm not crazy about the auto-tune on his voice either, because it feels like he's chasing trends again. but at least he keeps the use of it light, and it's more of a faint accent to his vocals than the main focus. in other words, he's not trying to sound just like kanye, though i'm sure if it wasn't for the big trend in auto tune, it'd be nowhere on the prince album.

I told them that he only uses it lightly on Chocolate box. They weren't impressed.

i can see how they wouldn't be. they don't seem to take trends in music much to heart, and they certainly didn't seem that way when they were working with prince.

I think those are 2 different things

the Camille alter ego is much different than
the auto-tune voice(which is only used on a line or 2) every teeny bopper girls group uses that one

I guess that could be turned around to you as well

"Who gives a d__n what Brofie thinks?"
I mean Wendy & Lisa are Prince's friends, so he probably cares what they think...

Wendy and Lisa are solid musicians and composers who had a LOT to do with Prince's most prolific and celebrated period. They've gone on to built an enviable scoring career and modest post-P career. That he continually asks for their input on his songs, despite their personal histories and issues, says quite a bit.

This particular Wendy and Lisa geek would also be interested in what Sheila E. or Jimmy Jam or Michael B. or Levi or Miko or any of his associated artists would think about what he does. Collectively, it's my favorite music, and given the opportunity to talk to any of them, "what do you think of what Prince is doing?" is a pretty natural question. Wendy and Lisa just seem the most accessible, and the most candid.

Anyway, shortly after responding to KCOOLMUZIQ, they also said something very fitting to your comment...

Its ok.... we are ok... we love him... he is a HUGE part of us .. and we are to him.. it will always be that way.
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark

Wendy might as well full fledge produce his next album since I heard he still come to them for their musicial input but Prince's ego wouldnt allow that to happen.

It's impossible for Prince to let Wendy ever be credited as a producer.
If it's successful, then what?
If it isn't, then what?
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

This Auto-tune Vocoder Nonsense
Friday May 16 2:57 PM CDT posted by xxl staff

Honestly, I don’t expect many people to actually know what the difference between a vocoder and auto-tune is. Not like Scratch Magazine didn’t do a whole article on the differences about a year ago, just saying. I think wikipedia is to blame.

Auto-tune is a plug-in made by Antares, which is used for pitch correction. While it’s best used sparingly, on parts where a vocalist like J. Lo, for example, might not be able to keep her pitch steady for an entire verse or what have you, rappers and singers these days just run their main line of vocals through it in excess and you get robot-like audio. I think people assume it’s the same thing as a vocoder because it uses a form of vocoding to achieve its process, but not it’s not actual vocoder itself, nor does it produce the same harmonic results.

A vocoder is something totally different than auto-tune, and it’s not a Roger Troutman talk box either, which is another mistake people seem to make. Without getting too deep into signal flow, a vocoder takes a signal- say you’ve got a microphone plugged into a synthesizer like the Roland V-Synth GT. The signal that comes through that microphone (you singing, rapping, chanting, whatever) is sent to the series of oscillators and filters which create the synthesizer’s sounds (now mixed with your vocals), which you can play through the keyboard or along with the keyboard. However you alter those filters and oscillators, that will change the resulting sound.

The best recent example of I’ve heard of a vocoder in action has been on will.i.am’s album, on a song called “Impatient.” Listen to this song all the way to the end to hear the vocoder in all its glory. Notice how it sounds NOTHING like the auto-tuned vocals that people have been confusing with vocoder for the past two years or so.
