damn i love it so far. so funky as hell and bring on the album.

I am really looking forward to the album. Dig the demo. And they are doing a great job with the updates and a/v posts.

I follow Wendy and Lisa on Twitter. The other day, they posted that Prince called Susannah telling her they couldn't use the Family name. Not sure if this has already been posted, but it'll be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Speed it up, funk/rock it out, give it live sound, not so studio-ish, and this really rocks. Funk/rock revival it.
It's nice, though, and I wanna hear more Family!

I agree with this all, except that I do kinda like the overproduced studio sound. Perhaps because we'd never seen The Family in a live environment before Family Jamm, I associate them a slightly overwrought sound, polish and packaging. I think it goes with their old glamour aesthetic. (Although it seems they've got a somewhat earthier vibe going now.)

Please keep in mind this is a DEMO! Not the finished track by any means. There's tracks that they've got that's going to blow you all away, take my word!!!

It's true... I think that's why they're using the name "Family 2.0" now. Prince has no rights over the new name.

I like what I heard, very funky. I wonder if they asked Prince if they could use the Family name before they planned the release of this project. Unless he had immediate plans to reform the group using other folks, I don't quite understand what his problem is with it. If this is another hissy fit about ownership then IMO it's lame.

First The Time, now The Family, what did Shelia E have to do add a period behind the "E"to keep her stage name?!

Oh, this sends me back.... ERIC LEEDS! Oh. My. God. IS 2009 going to be a year? W&L have a fantastic album out, Prince is promising three intriguing pieces and now we have 1985/6/7 Paisley Park seeping out our speakers too.... I haven't smiled this much in a while.

I know it's a demo and all but still... Not good.

We are all so quick to jump on Prince....but we don't know if this is true or not. He had no problem with The Time using the name so I find it hard to believe he would have issue here. Family 2.O sounds like a better name since Prince is not involved too.

I really liked the songs on the Video clips as well. Wonder how soon we'll hear/have some finished product. Looking forward to this.

While I think it's too early to judge the song based on the demo version, I think Susannah sounds fantastic.

The Time was on the Michael Baisden show and they were asked about the name and said they spoke with Prince and he gave them his blessing as far as using the name for an album etc. On the The Family I was just speculating based on this information.
