If you don't dig W&L's last cd, you're mad. It shows how objective are W&L's fans. In fact W&L's hardcore fans are as dumb as Prince's. W&L or Prince can fart and record it and they are just happy.

HamsterHuey said: It's beautiful. It goes on where Girlbros stopped. It's less introverted, but not less emotional than Girlbros. It rocks and funks and gets close without getting mushy.
I love, love, love the sound, the many vocal layering, the musical thingies throughout. Thingies? Yeah, thingies; they never deliver a straight up melody, they layer stuff, there's a Lisa keyboard to the back of this song, there is gentle backing vocals on that one; it is not an album that reveals all at the first listen, but it sure does grab you from the word 'go'. Again, the lyrics are something to die for. I will have hours of of listening pleasure, just getting used to everything. Where does it Funk, this album is D'void of Funk. I think it's a cool album and sweet suite is a beauty but the album does not funk. 7/10 on the whole. [Edited 12/10/08 12:44pm]

I just wish there were more tracks on the album. Nine just isn't enough. I like the demos a lot . There has been major congestion at the web site. I hope it's from all of the downloads.

already hooked on three tracks. Can't wait for the rest. This really is an awesome record. I could care less whose name is attached to it. I may know about it because they worked with Prince, but that doesn't man I'd like it. I was ok with their last cd but wasn't that into it- but this is another story. Dense and chewy.

There's a part of me that feels the same way about the nine songs. At the same time - they just fit together so nicely. I don't feel like anything's missing or extraneous. It's one of the rare albums which fits together for me in a perfect song cycle. In a day and age when so much music is about singles instead of albums, it's amazing to hear a real, live album again.

Ok. I can't stop listening to "Red Bike."
I love that the album title comes from the lyrics of my all time favorite Joni Mitchell song, "Hejira." I like the fact that the bio acknowledges that they were once a couple...
http://app.topspin.net/ar..._id=204002 WENDY & LISA Listening to Wendy & Lisa reminds you of a basic fact of life: if you grew up listening to glam rock in the 1970s, you never stray too far from home. With their sultry, almost anthemic new song, “Invisible,” Heart comes to mind with that throb of female rock and roll energy. There’s a theatrical bridge that smells like Ziggy Stardust. When Lisa gets that high, sexy vocal on in the background, you can feel the specter of Prince. But the amazing thing about Wendy & Lisa is that they have built a sound all their own, deeply referencing the best sounds from the 70s and today’s ethereal alternative rock. Clearly, when this duo gets into the studio, they don’t get out for a long time. All vocals and instrumentation are their own, creating an ultra-lush, post-psychedelic sound. The lyrics wrap around the music like a good drug entering your bloodstream. With "Invisible," a post-break-up song, it’s impossible to forget that the two, once lovers, are now in other relationships. They have been loyal to their musical partnership, performing together throughout the years of personal transitions. Seems like they got through those hard times, but, to loosely quote Joni, it’s like they’re defectors from the petty wars until love sucked them back that way. -Amy Scholder

Is the sparkly hand, the cover art?
wasnt there another cover floating around a few weeks ago, or was that just artwork for the first single? I like the hand artwork much much better, the other one look amatureishly awfull. I think it was by Parke, the cheesy artist doing the covers for Prince in the 90's if i'm not mistaken

Steve Parke's Flickr album is here: http://www.flickr.com/pho...028333032/ Incidentally, he created a graphic novel called Medusa's Daughter and Lisa composed the music for an internet teaser trailer: http://www.narrativeink.com/ I believe he is close friends with Lisa.

That's my way of sayin this album has longevity in overall sound and production quality. . [Edited 12/9/08 23:31pm] Interesting. Tchad Blake mixed both records...

I did get an email that has a Play button at the bottom. I didn't try it, though, as I've already purchased!

I'm a diehard W&L fan, but this album is a disappointment. They should have thrown in some funk here and there. I miss the funk.

Wow...is this great stuf!! Continuing and building from Girl Bros, these songs are positively stunning. Complex and mature...but of course I expect nothing less from these two. I love all the twists and unexpected turns. This one will be getting many repeated listens for YEARS.
What sucks? The fact that I can't buy this NOW. My only access to the internet at the moment is through my work laptop...so I can't download anything. My home computer is packed away in storage...I was just transferred from CT to Chicago and am in corp housing until Jan. So I need to be on their website from the email to be able to hear the album. Its better than nothing...but here is to the countdown to when I can put this on my home stereo, computer, turntable, and car...! But thanks ladies for another stunner!
