Susanah had a big problem with Black people. Dah? Prince is Black no matter how light his skin. She was rude and more childish then Mayte could ever be. I ate dinner with him once she waited until we were leaving to show her behind. I am just a friend I told her. She reconized me from pictures his mother had it was on how immature to try and attack me for just eating dinner with him. Morris was just laughing until she screamed out the N word.
Susannah screamed out the N word at who? And why would she scream the N word? I'm kinda confused here . Was this a dinner party attended by Prince, you, Morris Day and whoever or something? Why would Prince be engaged to marry a white woman who has a problem with blacks when he himself is black? sorry if that was over your head...jump up and try to catch the point next time.

We were just hanging out at a resturant Le Dome. It was raining and we were waiting for the car to come around she was very well not all there. Possibly high. I started laughing until she slapped Prince. She was like all the so called beautiful ones. Smashing his little fantasies. He did't hit her back. He would never hit a woman. She was mainly yelling at Morris and I. I think she was as dillusional as Vanity.Because I had known him for so long People would jump to conclusions. I am not an ugly person and she thought hum caught you now. But I couldn't help myself and slapped her. She rolled down backwards down the Stairs. Morris thought it was funny. sorry if that was over your head...jump up and try to catch the point next time.

if she dated Seal what does that prove? Did she marry him? That's two different things She said Prince didn't act black when I asked her why she insisted on calling me out of my name. Oh and Honey I have never done drugs. Thank you. sorry if that was over your head...jump up and try to catch the point next time.

If you want to earn the privelege to go around saying you were with him you had to go by the rules:
You stayed at home all the time alone. No friends no company without permission You had to look good at all times and basically be at his beckon call.Understand those rules and if you pose for Playboy your out. He used to read them and he didn't want to see someone he had to deal with everyday naked. sorry if that was over your head...jump up and try to catch the point next time.

You really don't like her, do you? Was Wendy the same way? And if Susanna was like this how come he was with her in the first place? ~KiKi

Wendy was worse. Susanah was a groupie. who tried to fill Vanity's shoes. Most of them felt very threatened by me I have known him all my life. I usually got dissed alot because they assumed I was a whore like them. I would just say take a number. A long line of insecure women wanting to be famous no matter what. The Melvoins brother died sorry to say of a family disease. Drugs. It's not that I didn't like her I dislike drug addicts. I grew up with herion addicts in my family. I managed never to do drugs ever. But to have people worship druggies. Please. I have more respect for someone who can get off and stay off. And even more Props to those smart enough not to do drugs in the first place. Just because everyone was doing drugs in the 1980's just wasn't a good reason to do them.I went through losing a cousin in 1983 of a overdose. To have to watch all these junkies cling on to Prince for drug money was hard.I was very close to my cousin. sorry if that was over your head...jump up and try to catch the point next time.

2 Questions and a comment... 1. Who are you calling a drug addict? Susannah or Wendy or both? 2. Who are you calling whores? Are you actually claiming that Wendy and/or Lisa slept with Prince? ??? Also...Your statement about the "Melvoin" family disease is uncalled for. You should take note to how the feeling of others could be affected by this. And remember that your answers to these questions are going to tell alot of us (who know the truth) so much about you. ____________________

Wow! I can't believe I skipped over this thread.
LauraRichardson: Very well said, and I understand exactly where you're coming from because I've been there too. Having also been more into Prince in his earlier years, I know what you mean about not being as into him in the later parts of his career. Also, it's always been pretty obvious to the AA community that there was some sort of "dual dance" going on, if you know what I mean. W.E.B. Du Bois got it right. "Also, I've had certain girlfriends that would be..." Exactly. This DOES happen folks. Whether or not that wench dated Seal or not means nothing. I've personally witnessed many a white female date black men and "slip up". Queen: I'm fairly new to this board and what you have to say is interesting. I don't know if you really do know the people that you say, but it seems as though most people here believe that to be the case. "If she dated Seal, what does that prove?" I'm sayin! It means nothing, and I've heard that "but you don't act black" comment more times than I care to remember. If what you say is true and you did slap her, then kudos to you. Was that before or after the "N" word?? All: Folks, their breakup could have been a combination of ALL of these things, and yes, race may have indeed been a part of that. Bringing it up is not a bad thing, it is simply a sad fact of life in the good US of A. Deducing it down to everything BUT that is just as insulting as racism itself. The finger pointing at the moon is not the moon...dammit!

Was he just so smitten that he couldn't see the way she really was? --- Well if what Queen said is true I think Prince put up with her because he was a confused young black man back then. He belived in intergration and everybody being the same no matter what color. Like a lot of black people he probaly got dissed a lot growing up by other African-Americans. Once he started to make money and become sucessful he felt that whites accepted him for who he was back then. Who would not want to be around people who are accepting you unconditionally and not putting you down for being different. I am sure it was hard for him to let Susan and the rest of the Revolution go but, he must have seen the light.

Laura:
Very well said. I've known other AAs who've gone through this. They usually have grown up and gone to school in suburbia or environments were there weren't many of us, OR, they grew up in a predominately AA environment, but had that "mixed" look and demeanor that Prince exuded. In the case of the latter, you often wind up catching heck from your own for being "high yella". I've never been to Minneapolis, but heard that it's predominately white yet very progressive. I'm sure this enviornment had a lot to do with who he was at that time. The finger pointing at the moon is not the moon...dammit!

I think Prince just grew up in a white environment and felt comfortable around whites. His environment certainly helped him crossover to white audiences.

I do not know if Susannah had a problem with black people. Of course Prince is black. It sounds Foolish for her to not want him to hang out with his friends and all. Why get into a Black/White thing and saying he was hanging with Black friends??? Sounds Dumb on her part. Prince was right Dumping her if she had that Problem. I've read DMSR, and read/seen interviews, and I always understood it that Wendy, Bobby & Lisa (who were close too) didn't like teh fact that Prince was snubbing them, there for years, when Wally & Gregg came along, whom I imagine took advantage of their new buddy.
Now they might have said that Prince was hanging out with his Black friends, but they didn't object to they being Black. Wally & Gregg were two coke-head Security guards who got friendly with the boss and got a gig dancing and fucking girls on the tour bus. Wendy & Lisa objected to the fact that here is Prince in his prime as an artist, with a band at their best, all talented, intelligent, fun people, and Prince wants to spend time with these two losers. --------------------

I think MiaBocca´s comment makes perfect sense...the
longer this thread gets, the more it sounds like BobbyZ and/or Dr.Fink ( or Wendy and Lisa ) made some sort of racist comments, which I think is taken a bit out of context...it has more to do with the attitude and effect on the music, not "...them white band members dissing Prince for hanging around with blacks"...by the way, BobbyZ produced Alexander O´Neal´s latest CD. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

They are quoted in the book saying that Prince started to hang around to many blacks. I do not know if they made these comments to him. None of us knows the exact things that were said but, repeating this crap 15 years later makes Bobby and Fink look like dickheads.
