I think their debut is the best, for that pre-Linn sound.

All of them. Turn that shit up and groove. I do get angry when critics say that the Time are funkier than Prince. That I disagree with.

nooooo tricky is the B-side to Jungle love..

It's both. Tricky is the b-side to "Ice Cream Castles" in the U.S. and the b-side to "Jungle Love" in Europe. I have both singles with "Tricky" on each one.

"Tricky" was the B-side for the UK "Ice Cream Castles" single.
And if you haven't heard "Grace", it's an instrumental version of "777-9311" with an overdubbed tongue-in-cheek interview with Morris.
There are some great soundboard recordings of The Time out there too!

Anyone seen the "Jerk out" video, with that long ass pink limo they all ride in. Nice video. Shanice was in it for some reason?

I don't know which album I like better, "The Time" or "What Time Is It". Anyway, get them in the order they were released and you can't go wrong....

The Time
What Time Is It
Ice Cream Castle
Pandemonium

Also, get Prince's "Graffiti Bridge" album. Prince, himself, has some very weak tracks on there but The Time has a strong one called "Shake" that makes the album worth buying.

That's a good one too and so is "Release It". Hell, The Time songs and the Mavis Staple song are about the only ones I listen to on that album. lol

"gb" is one of the only Prince albums I'll hear these days. Most of that album is just about fun, if dated yes pop tracks.

Yeah shake is cool. "latest fashion" is cool too. I prefer the snearing original though, u heard it?

Now that I have the first cd by the Time, my favorites are get it up, after hi school, the stick and cool!

It's a good cd but very short. I wish Morris Day would make some new music. Any news on him??

No....Just 3 minutes & 12 seconds....

plus... it's Prince on vocals, IIRC. doing his Cloreen Baconskin voice.

all of the 1989 Time tracks are great. Pandemonium was a huge mistake. i realize Jimmy & Terry were hugely popular at the time, but WB should have released Corporate World as-is. The tracks on GB are superior, as are all of the outtakes. Aside from Jerk Out and Chocolate, everything from Corporate World beats Pandemonium by a mile. Would have been one of his better late-period side projects if it'd been released.

I really liked 'Pandemonium' also. I think it's The Time's second best record after 'What Time Is It?'. It's the only album where all the members actually collaborated on the music so in that sense, it's the only 'real' Time album released. The Time tracks on 'Graffiti Bridge' aren't bad, but they don't have that classic Time sound to me and work better on that album than on 'Pandemonium'.

I disagree completely
Aside from Murph Drag
Pandemonium kicks the shit out of corporate world
There are 5 great songs on there, the problem most people have with it, is the extra songs that are average at best weigh it down.

still i would have loved to have seen it released. Its still better than some of Morris's solo work

But to answer the origional question
Get what Time is it
One of the coolest albums ever made
if that doesn't get you into the time, nothing will

nah. Pandemonium is way too glossy, and is noticeably devoid of funk. Corporate World is tight.

Hell no. There best is "pandimonium". Its the most varied, and Jam and Lewis get more free reign over the songs. Shit like "donald trump (black version)" and "sometimes i get lonely" are 2 of their best ballads.

Then u got "blondie", a rock song with an awesome bridge. I love the title track aswell, its a monster cool
Although I think Pandemonium isn't as good as their other cd's, I liked it too. My jam was "The Skillet" That one rocked. Yeah even though the lyrics were corny "Donald Trump (Black Version)" was tight. I really liked Candy Dulfer's saxophone playing on that one. One song that should've been cut from the album was "My Summertime Thang" YUUUUUCK!! mad mad mad

Chocolate's not funky? eek

It does have alot of gloss (i blaime that on Jimmy and terry), but The tracks that i really like off that album( Blondie and the Skillet) are straight out rock. Yeah i know they co wrote those(with jesse of course)

different taste i suppose

I really like the Jam & Lewis tracks. The only song on Pandemonium that I don't care for is Prince's "Data Bank".

Grace is the B-side to 777-9311 (Morris being interviewed)

Tricky is the B-side to Ice Cream Castle.....(A true funk jam... biggrin )

Pill, u know I love u, brah. Dig, that's P doing Morris's voice on "Grace". On Tricky, it's Morris on skins and laughter. P again is doing Morris.

BEAUGARDE

Ice Cream Castle is my favorite cd by The Time, all of the songs a funky. Then it would be their first cd The Time and then What Time Is It? Pandemonium is ok but only becuz of the Prince songs and The Monte Moir slow jam. Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis & Jesse Johnson should have only participated in playing along with Prince's guidance. They should know their roles when rock royalty is around!!!!
