Was this Ever Discussed? Why Do The PussyCat Dolls Sound Like Vanity6?

Don't You Wish Is Definitely A Sample and are they Paying Prince? Were they Copying Vanity6 in their style. It also could be a Shelia E Glamourous Life hook. Does anybody agree this is similar? I like the song and the appearances on Las Vegas.

Are you talking about the music? Vocally, I don't see the comparison. Musically I can see it. Their stage perfromance isn't similar either. They move much better than either V6 or Sheila. But, V6 and Sheila weren't/aren't dancer.

The sound. The hook is similar. No, the style isn't with lingerie and stuff but that song sounds so much like Vanity6/Shelia style. Glamourous Life... NA,NA Na. Na Na,....Na.... Musicians can hear it.

Yeah, I got the point about the music. That sound has been copied by a lot of groups/performers. I wasn't talking about their fashion style either, but their performance styles.

It is Glamorus Life. I thought that the second time I heard it. At first I was like what is that sample. Of course I don't think it is a legal sample, I have not checked the stats.

I just listened to the clip on Amazon which was only a few seconds.....
the only thing that sounds similar is the chorus follows the sax hook a little from Glam Life but at least based on that clip it doesn't sound completely ripped off.

Do they actually play the instrumental riff in the song?

Britney Spears had a song a few years back that sounded more like Vanity 6

I posted on here a while back that in addition to her song with the V6 bass line, the synth riff from "Toxic" sounded like a rip off of the riff from Prince's Automatic. Not note for note....but pretty damn similar.

So does the Pussycat dolls thing have the Gamorous riff or just the chorus follows it a little?

I think it's just that riff.

When u say "song with the V6 bass line", are u referring 2 "I'm A Slave 4 U"? I actually thought she was sampling "Nasty Girl" in that track...

I´d say the only similarity is the PCD drum-programming. it sounds pretty like "NAsty Girl". those claps and deep percussion sounds are put together in a Prince-beat style

Because very young, over sexy female act with limited vocal skills rips off the Vanity 6 formula. Look at how many Brittany Spears songs sound like Vanity 6. In that way, vanity 6 really is more influential than a serious music listener would think - even though the talentless broads that rip them off are not serious or music.

yes that's it. I dont know if it's a sample, or just similar drum sounds and beat..... but clearly it's "influenced" by the Nasty Girl beat.

(I've only heard Britney's song a few times but picked up on it immediately).

And to the last poster, we're tlaking about the music ....not necesarily the concept of scantily clad women etc.

Although to be honest, V6 was ahead of it's time in both ways, although the music part is all Prince since they didn't actually write or play of it.

"Slave For U" sampled the "Nasty Girls" beat and bass line.
