miko weaver......I'm trying

2 find the strong points of dudes contribution while in the camp. clearly he was waaaayyy better than levi. my only knock is that wack line in G.Bridge "she's 3 fine". He would been better of like B/Mark and having his joint edited. So anybody got any positive feedback to add.....

we may need to file a missing persons report for P's guitar/bass players....

He actually started in Sheila's touring band for the Glamorous life. During the tour for the album, she had 2 guitarists, Stef Burns and Miko. During the opening act for Purple Rain, I think Miko left and it was only Stef.

Interesting, later in Romance 1600, Stef stayed on guitar, and Levi took over bass from Benny Ritvield.

So a lot of Prince's bandmembers actually came from Sheila who was/is very connected to the Bay Area and LA music scene.

Other examples:

Boni Boyer (was in Sheila's 86/87 pre-SOTT touring band)
I've heard Renato was also in one of her band's but not sure which.
Kat Dyson (same thing)

Renato was a member of her "E-Train" band.

There is nothing that really stands out about Miko's playing except he was good enough to be in Prince's band for a long time. For whatever reason, there was something that just didn't "fit" with Prince's band for me with Miko. There was a "outcast" sort of vibe happening. I can't quite put my finger on it nor explain it.
I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

Miko was FONKAY...that's why he was in Prince's band. Listen to the live version of A Love Bizzare. (86' in San Fran with Sheila E.)

Yeah but WEndy is playing her *ss off on that too..... and she's known for her funky rhythm skills. SO not sure who's doing what.

True. If you listen closely you can hear both guitar parts. Both fonkay.

Don't put down Levi so quick, he is a great bassist and guitarist. For evidence of his musicianship peep Sheila E's Saturday Night Live performance of 'A Love Bizarre' and the Lovesexy live video, he's holdin' down that fat bottom. He also helped Prince out on many productions at Paisley Park during the late eighties and early nineties.
