Can someone reccomend a cd from The Time?

I've never been able to get into them as I just thought they were a joke with songs like "Oaktree" but I want to give them a chance. Which cd should I get?

Their debut album and the second one, "What Time Is It?". Both very good. I don't think I have listened to their slower songs, though. But the jams are definitely worth it!

Is it true that the first one is basically a Prince album? Did he sing the songs?

Hell no. There best is "pandimonium". Its the most varied, and Jam and Lewis get more free reign over the songs. Shit like "donald trump (black version)" and "sometimes i get lonely" are 2 of their best ballads.

Then u got "blondie", a rock song with an awesome bridge. I love the title track aswell, its a monster cool

You can hear his voice on backing vocals and other nonsense here and there, but it's Morris singing lead. And like funkpill said, at least the first three are Prince albums.

"Oaktree" was a Morris Day song from his first solo album. It's not in "THE TIME" catalogue.

Get them all. All of the Time albums are classic, in my opinion. Morris' solo cds are a little spottier, although "Color of Success" is a jammin'-ass album.

It's a jungle out there.

lol That song gives me the giggles. As a few have already stated, their first three albums are all worth owning. Be warned though - they're relatively short albums with great songs that are stretched nearly to the breaking point. I prefer some of the single mixes to the long-ass album versions that were lengthened just to take up space.

I don't mind the short-ass albums at all. It's the needlessly-long mixes I sometimes don't care for.

so you're saying those same 6 songs could even be shorter.

ooh actually i know what you mean; there's one on What Time Is It that I almost don't get through.
