Favorite Prince dancer?

Who would you say was your favorite Prince backup dancer? It can be anyone in videos, concerts, whatever. My choice is Mayte. She do so many diffrent forms of dance and I found her to be very talented. She was so diverse from bellydancing in 7, to hip hop during P control preformaces to, introspecitve modern dance in like the Dolphin video. God I love that woman!!!

Mayte, Mayte, Mayte. She's so sexy. That...ass...drool

If there's one pic that I really wish was floating around the net and isn't, it's screencaps of the '95 AMA's when she had that super hot red outfit on that showed off her ass. Great tv performance just for that alone.

Ditto! None of the others could touch her when it came to dancing! They were just eye candy.

Yea, except Cat is hideous compared to Mayte.

Remember her performance in Purple Rain(the little spin she did along with the head spin). I thought she was the best dancer

falloff

I would say Mayte...except that since she was MARRIED to Prince, you can't really refer to her as his "dancer".

My next choice is CAT. She had an incredible stage presence and energy level.

AMEN! So beautifully put and so true!

From a dancer's point of view, NOTHING compares to Mayte. It isn't even an issue! I'm wayyyy old school Prince, but I'm sorry, Mayte raised the bar to another level. Cat was frenetic and too busy, though I liked her toughness and she did her thing back then.

Mayte is poetry in motion. I've never coem across another dancer before or since that could express the music so well.

Like I originally stated,it all depends on the song.Mayte and Geneva were very pleasant to my eyes but Cat's dancing helped add to the magic of the SOTT and Lovesexy tours. Both of those tours(especially Lovesexy),besides being musical extravaganza's were almost like a play or a movie with an incredibly ecclectic soundtrack. Mayte's dancing was always welcome as well but her style was better suited for some songs more than others.Cat was a little more versitile over all to me.

Mayte is a dancer. Cat can't dance to me, she's definitely an amateur. Most of the time (In SOTT) all she did was shake around like she was having seizures and pantomime.

I think both cat and mayte...but they just had different styles.
Mayte seemed more experienced *she was dancing since like 4ever
Cat seemed so full of ENERGY
they both added 2 the experiences of the tours which really counts-

I'm not really seeing all this dance expertise on Mayte's part. I don't care if she's been taking lessons since she was 4. Sure the middle eastern belly dance moves, ok that was cool for the stuff that was on the Symbol album, but did not work well with a lot of the rest of Prince's music. For example, the video for Loose. All she did was swing her hair around in various directions, and kick her leg up. Then for a little variety she would do that same belly dance move that she did in the "Love 2 the 9's" video. Same thing for the Endorphin Machine performance on Vh1 back in '94.

Most of the other time all she did was pose, poke out her butt, flutter her hands in the air or roll around on the floor with her legs spread eagle. Any stipper can do that.

What about it? Did she dance in it? I haven't seen the video since it came out so I don't remember. I do remember about 6 girls dressed in belly dance outfits and doing middle eastern tinged dance moves in it. If she did dance in that video it's the same thing as the Symbol album dancing. I mentioned in my original post that she was limited to that style of dance.
