Whenever this subject comes up, there is a part of me that feels slightly insulted. Isn't it obvious it's CAT of course? She fit with Prince like a hand in glove. They had a chemistry that hasn't been matched. They complimented each other's dancing perfectly. He seemed to enjoy dancing with her and she appeared to enjoy dancing with him. Mayte seemed more like a prop and almost a distraction while on stage with Prince.

Mayte, was good at her belly dancing thing. But other than that, to me she was just eye candy for the fella's whom Prince wanted to show off. Whenever I picture Mayte dancing, I only see someone slinging their hair around, trying hard to be hip and fit in with Prince's music. She didn't have a natural fit the way CAT did. Mayte really did nothing for me. If Prince wasn't romantically interested in her, I don't think she would have been in the band at all.

And I for the record I am not saying Cat is the best dancer in the world but she and Prince had great stage presence together. They complimented each other. Prince and Mayte did not. And as a matter of fact I've seen a lot of tape where he looked like he was trying to pay attention to her to make sure she didn't do anything retarded (like stage dive and bust her ass as she once did) and mess up the show or hurt somebody in the crowd.

Uggh, I have the the sneeking suscpison that alot of women bitching about Mayte just don't like the fact that she was Puerto Rican and not black! Just like alot of people bitch about Carmen Electra, Diamond & Pearl, and other non-black women on this board. I mean Vanity gets nothing but compliments on here (and I love her and yes she is a godess) but I have had many conversations with black women who HATE it that Prince chose to work with white/hispanic women because he obviously favors them! I'm not saying that Prince dislikes black/mixed women at all we obviously know that he has been with many black/mixed women but he just must relate better to white/hispanic women. If Mayte did the exact same thing and she was black I think she wouldn't get half the "She sux" comments as she does.

I could watch Mayte dance forever. She has a great stage presence. A real grace that the others didn't have.

Krystal666, did you see the Prince concert call "Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic", his New Years Eve Celebration? If so you will recall a blonde haired BLACK female dancer. Well, IMO, she was the weakest dancer to ever grace the stage with Prince. Mayte could dance circles around that girl. And her race has nothing to do with it.

Face it, girls that dance like Mayte can be found a dime a dozen (go to any nightclub and check out the "Go Go" dancers and you will see that) and we all know that the chemistry that Prince and Cat had on stage has not been matched since she left. And that's the truth.

Also regarding the whole Hispanic/White women comment you made, Prince "relating" better with them, says a lot about HIM. It is my belief that any man that developes a "preference" for those outside of his group, has issues. I did not say dating outside of your race was bad, but if a Indian man who was born and raised in a all Indian environment somehow develops a "preference" for women that are not Indian, and in fact will not date Indian women, that says a lot about HIM. In my life, I have met Asian's that do not find other Asians attractive, I have met whites that do not find other whites attractive, I have met Hispanics that are not attracted to other Hispanics, and I have met Blacks that are not attracted to other blacks. This is beyond simply having a "preference". This is about brainwashing, and falling into the sick belief that the white woman is the epitome of all beauty and the closer you are to looking like one, the more attractive you are considered, no matter what race you are. Prince, like most people in the world has become a victim of this belief.

Again, as a black man, Prince and his long list of non-black women and very very few black women, says something sad about HIM.
