These are my same choices, too, except I'd also have to add Vanity 6's album in there, as well.

I go for Wendy And Lisa Eroica simply because the songwriting is superb and equals anything Prince is capable of and the playing is stunning. I still play it regularly. More than a lot of Prince stuff.

Dude!!!!! Eroica is one of my favorite albums of all time! That's a modern-day classic.

Of course, there's the classic Family album, of which I have on vinyl!

smile.

I forgot about Vanity 6 when I wrote this. ALthough I don't know if I'd pick the whole album. What would be awesome would be a Time/Apples/Vanity 6 album that had the following tracks:

1. Get It Up
2. The Stick
3. The Walk
4. WIld & Loose
5. 777-9311
6. Cool
7. Nasty Girl
8. If A Girl Answers
9. Sex Shooter

The question really has two answers as "associated artists" can be an album produced by Prince or an album by an artist that has left Prince's record company. As such, I can admit that Apollonia 6 is my personal favorite Prince production for an artist other than himself. It was the first of his protegé-albums I bought and I like every song on it. biggrin

As for artists formerly associated with Prince, I'd have to go with Wendy & Lisa: Eroica. It's a classic. biggrin

Madhouse 8 is great, and the best IMO. For what it is. Its' very jazz/fusion. No vocals.

I have 16 on cassette from when it came out but I never got into it.

I dont' know if it qualifies as "The Best" because it's more of an experiment in a particular direction.

I think pickign the Family as best kind of includes Madhouse, cuz there are 2 instrumental tracks on it, and both feature Eric Leeds prominently. If I recall, The Family came first, so it was a precursor of (many) things to come.

When/where did you see Madhouse live? ANd what was the band lineup? I saw them at Family Jamm but didnt' know if that was the lineup that played live in the past (It was Sheila on drums, Fink on keyboards, Eric on Sax, and house band player (Ray Mckinley?) on Bass at the Jamm).

smile It's really hard choosing the best Wendy And Lisa album. I like all four of them practically equally, but the first LP is probably the one I listen to the most often.
