The gig will be a retrospective and include work from most if not all of
St Paul's albums

It will also be recorded for a live cd/dvd

I hope he includes a couple of tracks from "down to the wire".....I know u Prince fans would hate it (if u don't already) but i love the whole album. "shooting star" was closest to being the only funk track on their.

"stranger to love" was a hit I think?

Does St Paul still hang around with Oliver Leiber, another Minni native.

From the horses mouth, so to speak, this gig will include
work from St Paul's stint with both The Time and The Family
plus solo work too.

And yes, he does still hang out with Oliver Leiber, who most
recently played with St Paul at the 'Just Plain Folks' awards.
Oliver will also be part of Paul's band for the bunkers gig.

Yeah, it's great 4 a cheesy pop fan like me to c St Paul on Paula Abdul's "opposites attract" "the way that you love me" etc.....

St Paul made something good of himself after the family. Big props.....

You know, I always wondered if "Oliver's House" was a sly dig at Oliver Leiber. An 'Oliver' is also mentioned in Apollonia's diatribe for "In A Spanish Villa".

U reckon he'll do "nothing compares to you"?

Seriously, I own alot of cheesy late 80's style music and his album takes 'em all. even new kids wern't as cheesy. Almost like he was taking the piss out of cheese. That is why this album is one of my fav albums ever.

"stranger to love" is soooo overproduced and over the top. with the 80's hallmark screeching guitar.....brilliant.

Why the pic has yellow bits around the edge of cover? Excess cheese from the disc is trying to escape. biggrin

Ya think???
Dont u just think it was 'of its time' ?
Are you taking the piss? How old was Paul when he made these albums?
Dont think u can compare his work unfavorably with New Kids!! Or am I
being over sensitive here???!!!

And yes, I DEFINITELY think 'Nothing compares 2 U' will be on
the set list

I expect Nothing Compares 2 U and Mutiny at least to be on the set list. Did any of you catch him back with The Family at the Family Jamm back in 2003? I would love to see them do some more dates together.

Their set was too perfect and unbelievable for it only being their SECOND show lol They sounded excellent and worked the stage WAY better than their 1st Ave gig.

Snap

Anyone hear his last album... what was it? Blue Cadillac? Any good? I loved his first album -- it was very "Princey." And it was very cool that he had a hit with "Stranger to Love" from his 2nd solo album -- used to see the video quite a bit on MTV. I hear he's never quit performing -- the Peterson family is full of muscians who do gigs all the time.

Hey, calm down. U must admit it is cheesy. Paul was going 4 pop and pop back in 1990 was dominated by acts like new kids on the block. I seriosuly love the album to death. Almost every song is great.

He got in producers who worked with Donny Osmond. So Paul was going 4 the teen market. I say good 4 him. Great 4 having a go. If i ever met Paul, I would commend him hugely on that album.

It is cheese but so uplifting, catchy and positively dancey that it is alot better then the new kids stuff.

"every heart needs a home" is a great ballad too.....

Sorry!
You know how it is when you really love an artist's work - you get kind
of defensive, huh?

'Blue Cadillac' had quite a few 'Princey' tracks on there but I am
glad Paul didnt just turn himself into a Prince clone - as if he could
anyway!

His newer album 'Everything' is much more diverse in my opinion. He'a class
act! Always working, does shows with his family every Christmas, and boy, is
there some talent in that family!!

Come on down to Bunkers on Feb 4th if you can - am sure it will be a great
night.....I am flying in all the way from Merry Old England for it myself!

it's all good. I can safely say that iam the biggest fan of "down to the wire" in the world.....I know people said his other albums sound different to this, but maybe I'll try one.

I wish I could go and see them.....no cash at the mo' though. Not even £5 biggrin

If u speak to St Paul, tell him he has a big fan of "down to the wire" all the way back in England biggrin

PAUL RIPPED UP THE HOUSE AND MY PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT WAS 'SCREAMS OF PASSION' -
THAT PERFORMANCE IN ITSELF WAS WORTH THE JOURNEY FROM ENGLAND - NEVER DID I THINK I WOULD GET TO SEE HIM PERFORM IT LIVE !!

OH WOW - COULD WE BELIEVE IT WHEN JELLYBEAN JOINED HIM ONSTAGE????

A GREAT NIGHT! OUT ON DVD SOON!!!!!
